With our kids, we didn’t tell them we couldn’t afford things, because I didn’t want to create a scarcity mindset. Instead , we said that we had to make choices with our money, and right now we have other things we’ve chosen to spend it on.
I love the chemistry of George and Rachel together. They're hilarious 😂
“I’m not unimpressed by Caesar, I love his salads” favorite quote
Nick Cannon could rival that too
I know he came with the jokes!!!
Oh my goodness-George is hilarious! “Who can rival that but Nick Cannon himself?” 😂😂😂
George, err, I mean Greg, always makes me bust a gut
George still feels some type of way about Charles having a queen bed 😂
I have always loved how Rachel is so humble. “We don’t have the money for that” when they absolutely do, but she still is frugal. Broke people are broke but go out & blow what they do have on what she said they don’t have the money for. So important for people to realize that
Kentucky derby reminds me of old money
i love my pearls because it makes me feel old & classy like old money but i’m the first generation to have a real set so it’s new money. 😂
Super stoked they mentioned RollerCoaster Tycoon! That game taught me a lot about economics and physics as a little kid haha
I knew a guy (he passed) who was very wealthy and had many very wealthy friends. His kids and all of his friend kids but a couple turned out to be entitled, some addicted to drugs, in and out of rehab, always needing money, asked him about it years ago and he said “if you have money it is about impossible to not ruin your kids…think about the 1st car, you don’t want them to drive a junkyard car, you want something that is dependable and safe…new cars have more safety features and are more dependable…in their financial ratio 30,000-40,000 for a car wasnt much. That attitude transferred to everything they did for their kids, they also didn’t want their kids to struggle like they did, or, for some, didn’t want their kids to feel less then their friends who’s parents had money. He said it was hard. Sounds like you would need to keep your money super private, have good friends and set the right perspective on money for your kids, and live frugally. You know continue to do the FPU thing! Ha!
George was in rare form for this episode🤣🤣
OK. These podcasts could NOT be more (combo) educational and entertaining!!! Thank you for keeping the serious of money management contrasted with the “other” side of some people’s lives.
I hope this eventually morphs into a version of “the finer things club”.
My husband and I were talking about privileges that you don't even realize you have growing up. Like one of my first jobs was working at McDonalds and my son talked about how that was going to be his first job. Than my husband mentioned that his first job was being a life guard and that our son should do that instead because it's easier and you make more money.
I mentioned to him that a job like that is a privileged job that I didn't have access to growing up. Like how his parents were able to afford swimming lessons or have access to a pool. Also the money to be able to take CPR classes and all the certifications that come with that.
There are lots of situations where you are passing down money and knowledge to your kids without just leaving them with money. Just setting them up with skills is a great way to build generation wealth.
Sharon is right…you 2 have great chemistry! Please keep your episodes coming. And this topic was surprisingly deep & provocative. Has me rethinking just what generational wealth means to me and how I want it preserved 🙏🏻
First episode I’ve watched. It was funny as heck. You’ve earned a subscription from me
You guys had me LOLing the whole freaking time!!😂
And George still bringing up little Charles’ queen size bed kills me! Lmao
You guys, bravo! 😂
Great Job y'all- Love the show, keep up the good work!
Like buying a house, and finding out that maintenance and hidden fees are much more expensive than planned for, so it is with possessions. With boats come haulage, dockage, gas, maintenance. Expensive.
Listener from the start here. I was listening to this episode on Apple Podcasts and immediately thought "are they drunk?" Rachel's speech seemed delayed and not her usual upbeat pace. George sounded off too and then there was the moment when George nicely hinted that the intro of the show was left off. I legit wondered what was up with Rachel and George today. After about 3 minutes of listening I realized somehow my podcast speed was adjusted to x.75 LOL I corrected it to the normal x1.0 and there was my usual peppy Rachel and George!!! I laughed so hard. For anyone wanting a chuckle, slow down the speed of their show while listening. It's like they've drank 3 of their cocktail of the day.
Really love your videos. Great chemistry. I m new to the channel and I’m binge watching!!
This has been my favorite segment so far❣️ Love it! Keep these great shows coming.
Love this podcast! I can’t wait for the new episodes to drop each week.
19:06 I LOVE how much Rachel and the producers are dying at the comment lol!
Great show! It's like an informative party. You got this 😊🎉
See I was struggling with teaching my kids to be grateful (5 &3) so I looked up books! Rachel's book was perfect and prompted a lot of great discussions!
What is the book title please? :)
I umm have 2 handbags that are over $1000 but I pair it with my old navy clothes 😂
Guilty as well My spensiv swiss watch . . With TJMaxx/Marshall/Ross sneakers and clothes.
Same! I have a couple Chanel’s (not a flex, most are over 20 years old from my grandma 😂) and I wear them with my target clothes. All about balance!
My answer to my children wanting something is two fold; its not in the budget (what can we do to save up for it) or we don't choose to spend money on this. We can't afford it leaves children feeling insecure with no tools to address the insecurity.
I’m wanting to go to one of your events one day. I have a feeling many of us families are thinking about these philosophical things that we need some direction: HOW do we leave an inheritance to our children WISELY? Please guys, make it happen! 🙌
This was very funny. Keep ‘em coming guys!
My husband teaches at a private school and he is struggling with one student who’s parents are very wealthy and he feels entitled. He won’t do his work because he doesn’t see the need.
Change the scenarios for him
Have you talked to the parents?
That’s not his teacher’s job unfortunately. Everything your husband tells him will just be undone at home. His parents probably spoil him & act very entitled themselves; kids are a product of their environment. I know kids from lower class homes that act like this 😮
Deviation to the mean means he will probably not be at his parents level. So on the one hand they might want him to enjoy it while it lasts. Also menial work is not actually character building. If your child is smarter and they're going to be working with their brains, you want to get them on that track sooner
Love this format, so happy I can see it-I’m a visual person-didn’t like the audio-thanks for the video!
Love your show 🎉
I am cheesing so hard watching you all while I’m on the treadmill. Probably looking like a Wilhem Dafoe gif… y’all are great. 😂
I live in St. Louis, which is full of old French and German money. Anywhere you go on the planet, two St. Louisans meeting each other for the first time will ask, “Where did you go to high school?” Tells you everything you need to know about socioeconomic status, etc.
I grew up in New England but currently live in St. Louis and don’t like it for this reason lol. It’s pretty ridiculous.
Accurate. I'm just west of there. Hello neighbor!
they ask this same question in Hawaii lol
Got those John Burroughs kids.
Going to college does have significant cultural effects where they then want their children to go to college which is a very bad thing
Old money to me celebrates tradition. No one in My social circle is old money. . Maybe my kids or nephews will experience this.
Always a great episode ❤️❤️❤️
George is timeless 😂😂
Great show!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I actually enjoy their conversations
Keep up the good work.
Great show!
So fun! Thanks
They're having so much fun!
Yessss Roller Coaster tycoon was epic!!
George is a funny dude 😂
Great show.
George with the nick cannon dig 😂
It's my first rodeo 🎉 branching from the classic Ramsey show
I have done much better than my parents, because I got a degree in engineering and always lived on much less than I made.
I have no confidence that my kids will do anywhere near as well as me.
I feel like all my hard work trying to build a family legacy will end with my generation.
Feel for you. But, we give our kids opportunity and choices then the freedom to grow from there.
Rachel loveeees her Louis Vuitton Neverfull lol
George, PLEASE do a stand-up at the next Ramsey event!
If someone has paid for a child’s education, wedding, maybe a first car and helped towards a downpayment on a home. I think that’s enough. Maybe some family items, or something you know that child would enjoy to remember you by. That’s good.
Shawl-collared cardigan checking in 😊
Hilariously educational
I sail What about Bob. Classic!
Hold property until the day you die so they get that sweet stepped up basis. Then they can sell it after it provided you value all through retirement. I have no idea how to pass down wealth the right way though... Everyone has to struggle and fail to learn.
Charles in his queen size bed needs to be Rachel's next childrens book
Lemon drops are excellent 👌
George is Crazy!!! 😂
There is nothing in me that likes either life style “look”. The flashy new money or the snobby old.
My great-grandfather, grew his farming operation to provide for his adult sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The company is now 106 years old. He did not leave cash to anyone, but left shares in the company to his sons and grandsons who were working on the farm. With farming being the biblical commanded occupation, I would assume that the passage in the bible about growing a farm to provide for the grandchildren.
We should all chuckle when people turn their nose up at electric cars. ALL cars are electric cars! Where's take Ford Raptor going when you take the battery out of it?!
True Old Money drives Pit and Pat powered vehicles like The Flintstones.
I think you need to live for today and not plan few generations ahead. That’s what my grandpa did he had millions had huge mansions with dachas , orchards, wineries, rose gardens etc.. he had everything planned out for few generations to come but life as always comes unexpectedly in a blink of an eye he had to leave everything behind and flee for his life because of the war. There is no guarantee for tomorrow and tomorrow is not given. Live for today and the rest is orchestrated by above.
We ain’t really never had no old money, we got a whole lot of new money though
Iykyk
I❤being on my boat but ny is like 4 months in the year
lemon drop is very "new money" should have gone with a scotch or a Burbon while wearing argyle sweaters and puffing a Cuban cigar lmfaooooo thaaaats old moneyyyyy lol
Passing down generational knowledge of Christ is also significantly more important than money and material wealth. It happens to be the only thing with eternal value.
Cheers old sport
An interesting mix of old and new money would be the show Duck Dynasty. Phil Robertson built quite an empire before the TV show was around, and then Willy and his brothers and spouses were definitely new money with the income from the TV show.
Thats not old money. Old money is inheriting intergenerational wealth from estates that are typically hundreds of years old. Phil Robertson is not old money by any definition.
@@dankbreh9013 I know he is not technically old money, but he has old money spending habits compared to Willie's generation.
Its funny. He says he won't let go of skinny jeans. Which if that's his preference, I have no problem with that.
When skinny jeans became in the thing. I absolutely refused to buy them. My preference has always been loose fit jeans.
Its nice when loose fit becomes the in trend. As its makes them way easier to find.
Gilmore Girls, old money vibes.
The movie “Wedding Crashers” comes to mind.....Cleary family=old money!
Lemon drops are a delicious drink.
They still call MBA mama‘s boy Academy😂😂
Does Dave Ramsey have a Coach bag? Louis Vuitton briefcase/ 🙂
There was a point in time when the Vanderbilt’s were ‘new money’.
New money has made it through study, experience, and acquired knowledge. Inherited or old money has been given it based on family relationships. The old has tied to it expectations, perhaps less experience and knowledge, and is not all it is cracked up to be.
No one gave Martha Srewart her money. Like her dislike her she made her own.
George was killing it with the jokes today! Were you a class clown George?
I would not call a lemon drop "old money" aesthetic. Should have picked a classic gin martini, George and Rachel!
Also the Great Gatsby was all about how he had made his money so Gatsby was an outsider - New Money
Traditional aesthetics are good
Paying with cash is so much more difficult than 1 credit card and tracking your expenses.
the Cesar salad is Mexican, George
The BFFs☕️
Poor people don’t buy logo clothes, because they can’t afford it.
Middle wealth buy logos to show they can.
Wealthy people don’t buy logos, because they don’t need to.
I believe it’s “mid Atlantic accent”
i would consider rachel new money but quite new money. she is super trendy but not logo flashy.
Question: if you have a networth of $1M . . And u leave $200K to ur kid or Niece/Nephew. . Do they come from old money?
No. Old money is like fourth generation.
Rachel will have Dave money- she’ll be old money.
When I see someone driving a brand new expensive vehicle, I generally assume they have an auto loan because one-third of Americans have auto debt.
@georgeK: so when's the new baby coming ?
And to some Europeans there's no such thing as American old money. 😂 There's some families in Europe with wealth that has gone back millennia.
Money talks, wealth whispers
Old money cringes Tesla's, skinny jeans and Apple.
When they married, wasn’t Jackie old money and John new money?
Rachel is technically old money, just not typical old money because she’s very down to earth and unassuming and she gets how the middle class thinks hehe
Old money is typically more than three generations, so actually she's technically new money!
Not wanting to leave your kids an inheritance is such a silver spoon brat thing to say lol.
Martha Stewart didn't one from money. She is self-made.
Smart Money-Happy Hour is a contradiction. Smartness with money does not buy alcohol.
I’d like to see this generation wise up to alcohol like my generation wised up to cigarettes.
King Charles
