Very helpful, recently found the wonderful world of overlanding, and people keep mentioning tires width like 35 and 37, and I was only familiar with the first measurement type and was confusing. TIL :)
We'll in non metric I have found in 2 different measurements that the tire size is off. My son bought mom 33x 12.50 tires, the 12.50 is correct, but the height is not 33. They measured out at 31 inches, actually not as tall as the Goodrich tires were at 32 inches. So, risking things a bit there's is a lifted truck in our plaza. I went down and did a height measure. They stated 35 inch on side wall, and they were 33. Different brands as well, I used to buy 33x 12.50 procomp tires until about 2007 They were not full 33 but close. Correct me if I'm wrong, but he did say the first number in non metric was the height?
Is it shown on the tire where is the heaviest part? And how to find the heaviest part of the wheel? Reading instruction on Wheel Balancer I came across the statement, that if those 2 points (heaviest parts) coincide, it is not possible to balance the tire, you need to rotate it 180 degrees relative to the wheel. Thank you for the informative film.
Should fit but I cannot seem to find any Pilots in our gallery running those specs specifically, I see some running 265/70 and 245/70, check these out and see if any of these setups are interesting to you! www.customwheeloffset.com/wheel-offset-gallery?sort=yno&year=2022&make=Honda&model=Pilot
I want the best look for my forester, stock size is 225/60/r17 what larger size can i run to achieve that look. Should i go 1 size up wider, taller, or both??
A lot of it depends on what kind of driving you will be doing with that setup, I would say though a size that looks good and also can be functional is 225/65 with 17x9 wheels! Check out this build running those exact specs and see if you like it! www.customwheeloffset.com/wheel-offset-gallery/1997954/2021-subaru-forester-cosmis-racing-xt-206r-oem-stock
There's a lot of video's on how to read tire sizes, but none of them say if every number has to match exactly with the old tires. My old tires are p205/55r16 89H and the tires I found for sale says p205/55R16 91H. Will that 2 mm make a big difference in the safely and handing of my driving?
I don't get when some offroad tires come with 195R14, what does 'R' mean? For knowing the diameter its a confusion because you dont know the actual dimensions of the tyre
How do I determine how to switch up? I have a 255/65R17 which, converts on your calculator, to a 31x10.5R15, but I want to buy 18 inch rims with 33 inch tires for overlanding.
I have 33 X 12.50 15 and I need to know what wheel size should I use 15 X 8 or 15 X 10 . I have heard that you can't rock crawl with the 15 X 10 because they might come off the wheels. What do you think
I'm confused about what he says at 4:22. He says the tire he has is 285/60r20 (you can clearly see it onscreen) and he says it measures to just over 32", but if you put that into any tire size calculator, including the one that is linked on their site, it says it is a 33.5" tire...uh...wut?
Hi mate, I have changed my vehicle Isuzu d max 2013 tyre and rims (215 55 r15 to 255 60 r18) since then rear brake stated making noise whenever stop the car. Brake pads are checked and are in condition, unable to understand what cause the issue? This vehicle has shoe drum brake on the rear? Any advice
Thank you for this vid! Do you see an issues with going from a 225/65-17 to a 245/65-17 on a 2012 RAV4? Would that ad more cushion and a softer ride without messing up anything on the car?
I would have to check that out for you! We don't have a whole lot of info on Rav4, but I would think off the top of my head it shouldn't be a big deal.
I have a 2021 ram 3500 dually. I wanted to put on the largest tire on my stock wheel. This size is LT235/80R17. I don’t want to add or delete anything off. I just want to add on bigger tires without them rubbing or touching anything while turning. I want the clearance. I want to know what type of tires I need without adding any spacers or lift kits. I do live in the mountains such as mud and snow and rain we get. Most people recommend 265 is the highest they go. 265/70or80 R17 Please any advice I would appreciate it thanks.

By the time he got to what the video was about I forgot why I clicked on it
I was thinking the same thing. Lol
For real I started zoning out right around 2 minutes 🤣
Blaaaa
For real
I skipped half the video lol
1:38 where it starts.
Time is valuable.
Not all hero’s wear capes!
Nah, 2:09 is where it starts
Thank you
This video was awesome! Minus the first 4.5min of nonsense but once he got to the point in the last 30 seconds it was amazing 🤩
Video actually starts @ 2:09. You’re welcome.
2:09 is metric sizes
3:42 is quotation sizes
Thank you so much for your invaluable information, highly appreciate it, keep it up the outstanding job, have a great day.
Another info filled video. Thanks. Saving your website info for next tire purchase.
Glad we could help! Let us know when you're ready

Thank you for that calculator

Is there a way to fit 36x12.50xR15 on a 96 dodge ram 1500
Simple question? What is the true size and height of a toyo RT 35x12.5x17?
Awesome video but one note ,40% of the video is intro and promotion, isn’t that a bit longer than it should?
Yes! Old video, old practices!
@@TrailBuilt much love

Hi, is 235 65 17 winter tires size will fit my Honda Pilot 2014 ?

Thanks for the quality content!
Very helpful, and a nice PSA up front on the Rubicon effort. Thanks guys!

Any tire suggestions or a 03 Toyota Corolla off road build?

those last two numbers and letter are load index and speed rating
@@TrailBuilt Does that mean the tire shouldn't exceed 89 mph or 91? What does the H mean?

can you run a265 65 r17 tire on one side and a 265 70 r17 on the oppisite
Sure
If my truck currently has a 35x12.5xR20, can I put a 13.5 wide tire on the same rim? I don't know the width of my rim.
i have truck f150 use tire 275/55/r20 I want big tire how big I can buy please recommend for me Thank you
285 60 20 is over 33 inches an 99.9 of standard tire sizes are a half inch or more under sized even inflated on the rim un loaded
Well explained
Thank you for information 🙏👍
what about 7.50R16-85.5of
Can tires 225 50 17 fit the original rim that has 235 50 17 tires ? I’m at tire shop and I gave them wrong tire sizes over the phone . No big deal ?
My Ford F-150 needs new tires. Current tire size is LT295/70/17 Can I place a tire size LT285/70/17 on the current rim?
Fast forward to 2:12
So when upgrading to bigger tires does the sidewall measurement have to match? or just the rim size?
Wheel size.
What’s lighter and a better tire 35/12.50/17 or 315/70/17
Why is one used instead of the other? Is it manufacturer specific? Or does the same exact tire exist in both measurements?
lol you heart my comment but don't respond to it - clearly its a question.. not cooool man.
Am I a joke to you 😂
Send me an email at thurston@trailbuiltoffroad and I can help answer your question

Why dont anybody make 17x11 8 lug for trucks here are tons of big tires in 17 but all ive been able to find is 17x9 8 lug GM
I believe it has to do with the overall safety for the drivers on behalf of the tire companies!

I bought regular 295 instead of LT295 tires for our f-250 4x4 diesel 2016. Will they be ok to haul our 28' toy hauler empty for a trip?

Hello Josh, my question is we can change the tire from 225 60R17 to 235 55 R17 on the same rim?
Can you tell me the correct tire pressure for a 35-inch tire? The current tire pressure of my tire is 44PSI.
