It is not so easy as you think underground man.
Those who HIGHLIGHT beauty are very important also - which is why TEACHERS are so important. They have the sensibility to MAKE CONNECTIONS and offer
their discoveries in a COHERENT WAY.
A work of art without someone to indicate that it EXISTS - dies!!!
The creative process and the exposition of all art
in ANY form must be seen
      to live.
Not everything is "original" - but the appreciation of it - and the particular way it is shown IS original.
The person who put this together did a great job!

Art remains our only recourse against the suffering and meaninglessness of existence. Beauty may not save the world, but it is all we have left to keep us from dying while we're still alive. The landscape defines the person. Kurosawa expressed this to the fullest. I think he reminds Westerners, who have a tradition of anthropocentrism, of forgotten landscapes. But he was also skillful in portraying people. It is said that Kurosawa respected Ozu. Ozu accurately captured and brilliantly portrayed people who blended into nature. He accomplished what even Kurosawa could not. But ...... Kurosawa is more famous now. Kurosawa's beauty is a proof that he was more concerned with the universality of the landscape than anyone else to the end.

I just watched Ran last night, it was the first in color Kurosawa film I've watched and it was absolutely beautiful. I think spending decades filming in black and white allowed him to nail down the fundamentals so when he was finally able to use color he was able to use it to its full effect.
I won't forget that shot, you used it in this; of the man riding horse back towards the camera in a field and there's a ray of sunshine following his path. That's the sort of stuff you can never plan for and when it does happen it's like magic.

A beautiful montage using common scenic elements of different Kurosawa's movies. The most suttle passage is the scene where a couple looks at the bright stars in the dark sky and the next scene is of a moving car whose black painted metal body reflects the street lights at night. This is poetic. Thank you.

If I had to choose just one scene, for its beauty, its music, its poetry, it would be Dersu, in Dersu Uzala, narrating part of his story to the captain, unable to understand malice, not understanding why he was robbed. My father sometimes had moments like this. I don't have that hope, I don't share the greatest faith of my father, of Prince Liév Nikoláievitch Míchkin (Лев Николаевич Мышкин), and of Eduardo Suplicy (here in Brazil): that justice and goodness endure. I interpret their hope as an inability to accept reality. Perhaps the world is the violent pantomime of Chekhov in В овраге (In the Ravine), the terrifying ignorance of Мужики (The Peasants), or the bitter ingratitude of Guy de Maupassant in Boule de Suif. These are interpretations, and I borrow my own feelings: only silent and indifferent Darwinism exists. And that's how it ends. Kurosawa teaches us that the captain's goodwill is penalized. The gun given to help a friend is what hastens his death. Our fate will ultimately be death. Death condemns everything. Today in particular, it is no surprise that 'the gentle indifference of the world' has become clearer... Am I just bitter? 'Men judge according to their convictions, caring little for the truth... Communism doesn’t work because it holds the same innocence of believing that human behavior is not marked by selfishness, ambition, and corruption. Fear, envy, and stupidity are more prevalent than generosity, understanding, and effort. We are heading toward climate catastrophe, the peak of totalitarianism, and the dominance of big corporations. Welcome to the brave new world! Long live the far right!
