The steel wires are a self nerf for John Smith as like you see that slime sword is potentially greater than even artifacts as the slime cid developed has like a %99.99 percent in magic conversion rate. So Slime suit and weapons just scale to how adept a user is with their magic. Long story short if John smith wasn’t handicapping himself by not using slime Slime wires>Steel wires.

For the arc that I consider the best arc of the anime so far, it still was cut and changed too much like that. I am glad I do not read the manga as my friend want me to do, I cant imagine I would enjoy the anime as I did if I had read the manga.

Now take this feeling that so much potential was wasted in the anime times ten and you have classroom of the elite. Because even if the eminence in shadow occasionally skips or shortens some things, it's still a good light novel adaptation comparatively.
While Teis covers about 80% of the story and only leaves out 20%, it's the exact opposite with Cote. There, about 80% of the content is discarded and only the rough outline of the actual story makes it into the anime. In some cases, half of the light novel has been skipped. That's why I'm very happy about the pace with which Teis is adapted, even though not everything is always perfect.
