In the novel he specifies more: He doesn't want to be the hero or the villain, he wants to be the hidden mastermind behind all the plans (someone who never shows his face but is the cause of all the events that are supposedly random), like Aizen from Bleach or Ainz from overlord if he were really the genius behind all the movements like his subordinates.
People don't know but things do infact happen because of ainz. Ainz has the stat of "luck" maxed out from his game and this makes everything he does end in his own good. This affects his people to also do good and think good of everything of him

Eminence in shadow: best anime to choose to start watching. And I ain’t kidding. It was the first anime I chose to watch for me.
The Eminence in Shadow is a trope about an extremely powerful and/or competent 3rd party force operating in the background/the shadows until they are revealed in the story, often sprinkling in small ominous appearances. Sometimes, minor seemingly insignificant characters can turn out to secretly be a really powerful , important or influential character that's been secretly acting with their own agenda all along. That's what the Eminence in Shadow is.
I remember laughing out loud when the movie-style credits rolled. This just my tupe of humour. Pretention cringe that's 100% self-aware.

Just to clear up before you guys misunderstood but the reason he wanted to be "The Eminence in shadow" it's simply for the thrill of being one not for the sake of it, basically just roleplaying like how kid plays on being hero and doesn't cares bout the details just act cools and cools all the way.
Like he tryna be Aizen but he doesn't bother himself to do the plans part and just show up when he had an chance to act like aizen.

The best summary I've heard for this show is from Gigguk. Everybody is playing Game of Thrones while Cid is playing DnD, except he's just making shit up as he goes along and is incapable of rolling anything except nat20.
As much as I love this show, you should check out the first few chapters of the manga, just because the main character is actually so unbelievably buff in the manga.

This series...my honest review..it's 9/10 rating...the 1 left is I having a problem when the mc say that certain lines in English...I'm not used to it but gotta admit it's pretty cool though....plus one of the most characters I hate in the series are that one girl got blinded by her own justice.

Just a head up. When you watch this series, you need to watch kagejitsu too. Everytime the main series was up, the mini series which we call "kagejitsu" will be followed. Many anime watcher overlook this. Kagejitsu is a chibi series that sometimes explain the main series plot. You better watch it after the main episode 2 as kagejitsu started from that time.
You may not see this, but this is one of the best anime plus you should do solo leveling. That is amazing just like this.
Strongly recommended watching the Kage Jitsu for this show.
They are little chibi shorts that match each episode (starting at episode 3).
P.s. sadly you got a dodgy sub version btw

This is it, ainz 2.0
So, I actually adore this novel series because of the dark drama and underground battling and the characters' earnest actions. I do not care for the comedy, though I will admit that anime makes best of the maximum potential for humour in this story. As much as I generally loathe comedy saturated shows these days, Eminence in Shadow is still a favorite, although I have to drop the anime after season 2 ends. Still, I will always enjoy seeing reactions to the 2 seasons.
