Im 55 and trained as a cabinet maker/ bench joiner (UK trades) in my younger days and as all stupid young men do I ignored all the old fashioned machines in favour of the more modern machines available and I scoffed at the older craftsmen who forever tinkered with the old machines and still turned out work far superior than the modern machines I used. In hindsight this was my loss as my youthful ignorance and stupidly forever lost me the memory of using these wonderful old machines. I wish you well young Caleb, cherish every mistake you make while learning your new trade because its very clear that you will love your old machines the way the craftsmen of my day did and I have no doubt that you will soon become a master craftsman because nothing drives a skilled person like a thirst for more knowledge and understanding.
Mary could absolutely not have found a better caretaker for her dear husband's passion. You're a fine person, Kaleb, and good attracts good. This is SUCH a classic Brown House story!
Once you have your shop set up, and you begin manufacturing replacement doors, windows, etc. for other house restoration projects, I hope you'll give demonstrations on how these beauties actually perform!!
This equipment really couldn’t have gone to a more passionate and deserving guy. I started watching your channel because of your passion for what you’re doing, not because I knew anything about Victorian home restoration. Really looking forward to see what you do with this equipment in the future.
I'm so happy that all your dreams are coming true! A grand house! A great wife! And original tools and machines! I hear the gratitude in your voice and the passion in your face! Unbelievable really!!! But true.
Blessings to Mary. For her loss and for recognizing / acknowledging your commitment to history and authenticity. Caleb, you are also blessed and thank you for your channel and all your work.
What a blessing. Mr. Brown would have loved how his legacy is being remembered and honored. I am so glad this came to a humble man like you. A great new chapter to the book you will write someday.
What an emotional episode to watch. It’s truly wonderful to see your unwavering commitment to quality in your restoration work. Mary was very wise to entrust her late husband’s woodworking machinery to you, a very compassionate and charitable person.
I'm not nerdy about old machinery, but I can appreciate the heritage collected here. What a wonderful lady to give such a deal too. I hope to see a workshop with all these machines in use some day.
A more fitting owner for these machines could not have been found. It is almost like they have been on a life journey and now they have come home. Imagine the stories they could tell, a modern day Odyssey. Congratulations, Kaleb!
This is my 1st note to you, Kaleb. Wow, I'm so very happy for you. I'm now in the twilight of my life and do to living with Multiple Sclerosis, I'm living vicariously through you. I, too, was very handy with tools and woodworking. Due to my MS, it's just a warm memory. So I hung on every word... imagining how I'd love to work with and restore your Victorian works of art. I'm so very happy for you. The Best To You, Denis
Speaking as an older lady I can tell you that Mary probably is just as thrilled as you are about you having her late husband’s tools. Your respect and appreciation for these machines and the fact that you’ll use them to restore your home is an honor to her husband…and that’s what probably matters to her more than anything.
Sorry i missed the live stream Kaleb 😮 but didnt think you'll be on today, what a surprise lol thought you'll be only Mondays like always. Thanks for sharing this history lesson. You take care my friend 🤓📸✌️
Amazing how blessed you are to have been able to find such beautiful historical working machines. yes indeed Mary, her late husband and Eric are so awesome.🥰🥰🥰🥰
100% bona-fide miracle ... it's wonderful to see how all your lives coincided to carry the dream forward. I totally appreciate your passion and so happy for you that you made this happen. Such beautiful pieces of machinery...even the fact that nothing is rusty ! Mind blown ! 🤗 It's like all your christmases in one go ! Massive congrats you so deserve this. So much love and thanks to Mary and her late husband. Wow ! just wow !
Kaleb, I have watched you from the beginning. It has been amazing to watch you not only rehab this wonderful home but grow as a human. What a path you have been given! So few people get to live their passions like you are. This was a great story to tell and you did it beautifully. Congratulations
I, like many of us here, was moved at this extraordinary generosity bestowed on the perfect deserving recipient. You will do great things with those machines Kaleb, and we are looking forward to your bringing us along on this journey.
Kaleb, this blessing couldn't come to a more deserving person. I am so happy for you to be given this wonderful opportunity and am anxious to see what you are able to accomplish with these tools.
Kaleb, what a Lally-Cooler!! That's Some Pumpkins!!! And That's the Bottom Fact! You can tell by your Gigglemug just how happy you are. Ya, I can google sayings of yesteryear, but it seemed apropos for the subject. You continue to be blessed beyond measure and good on ya. Continue to be appreciative and know just how fortunate you are. Bless you, Kim and of course Mary and her late husband. John here, from the back-roads of Northeastern Tennessee.
You deserve these machines, Kaleb. There is nobody on earth who would appreciate them with the passion that you do. This is some manifest destiny stuff right here. Just by being you and sharing your passion with the world on RUclips, you made it clear to Mary that they belong with you.
I grew up in my dad’s garage, and my grandfather’s blacksmith shop. Their old machines, run off steam and big belts. They surrounded me as a child. The smells, the sounds, the heat of working with the metal giants, flood my memories, as you were showing your wood working machines. Build a shop worthy of the machines. Use every tool you have to create that work shop. When you have children, make a safe place for them to grow up in the shop. I was a little girl in a big man’s world. They made room for me to love the machines as much as they did. You have such a legacy for your future heirs. Bless you as you bless the future.
WOW!! Caleb!? What a true gift!? Mary is an angel and what curators they were of these super rare machines. I teared up when you relayed the story of Mary giving you this true gift greater than a gold coin! ❤❤❤
So cool! 🆒 I can't believe you you basically just found the contents of future working museum. Now I'm really hoping there is some way you can get the neighbors land so you can house it all 🤞
Wow! I'm sure Mary and her late husband (may his memory be a blessing) are extremely grateful that the machinery has gone to your hands. I can see the passion you have for not only the machine themselves but for the history of everything ❤
The machinery, the spare parts and attachments, and Mary's story has given a wonderful range of emotions to me... Thank God that goodness still abounds in this crazy world! ❤
What awesome machines!! I’m anxious to see you put them in action. This is wonderful and I’m so happy you were able to find these treasures ! Kudos to this amazing lady to pay this forward.
So much work went into making those gorgeous machines, something that modern technology can never duplicate, I'm impressed that you know so much about them.
I'm speechless. This is simply beyond words. Can't even express how thrilled I am for you! Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of this incredible journey which is simply an epitome of sincere love and care for your city and its history/legacy.
I believe in what you do, Kaleb. You're a true steward of history and I'm proud to help support you in any way I can. I love and respect the 'nerding out' that you do. Old folks like me call that being passionate, and it's a good thing.
My paternal grandfather was a carpenter in Teton County, Montana. He built many of the houses there way back in the early 1900s. He did all of this work you're talking about with a hand plane. I gave that hand plane to my son.
Kudos to you for keeping the collection together. I was legit expecting another zero on that price. I'm sure it will be immensely gratifying to Mary to see what wonderful things you do with them.
No WAY! Too CooL! It's a Gold Mine Collection!! And you are actually going to use them! You enjoy doing the work and you could make a life of it!? How Wonderful!! Bless Her, and Her Husband!🙏 You guys, too!!😉
I'm so happy those machines are with you, I know you are going to honor their legacy. Guess the garage museum is coming sooner rather than later and I'm excited to see it
Thanks for the great movie, Kaleb. I have fond memories of many trips to Chilton, WI with my dad and uncle Jim to pick up these machines. I know my uncle would be happy to know these machines went to someone who is equally passionate about them - Charlie’s son Charlie
I am so chuffed you were able to get those wonderful machines! They will no doubt be well cared for and used as they were intended with much love and enthusiasm! Your love going out into the world through your friends, relations and community work, you've been blessed with meeting Eric and through Eric, Mary and her late husband. My heart goes out to Mary and her family, and I am so looking forward to seeing you use the machines!!
You had me excited to think of what you might have gotten to jaw dropping at the sight and drooling over them to bawling. You have been so blessed. Truly, no words I can say to how moving this story is. God works in mysterious ways. 🙏 ❤
Shit man! You had me crying there for a couple of times. Just wow.! Great stuff you got there but also the burden of hounoring the paying it forward. Just wow. Best of luck and may your cutters keep sharp! Great thanks mate.
Thank you, Mary, for passing your husband’s legacy on to Kaleb. What a kind and generous thing to do. Rest assured your husbands memory will live on in Kalebs work. Kaleb, I know you will treasure these machines and do amazing work with them.
The machines could not have gone to a better person. Please use extra caution as they do not have many of the safety features of new tools. Your passion for your house, your city, and Hall & Brown is extraordinary. St Louis owes you a lot because you are doing a wonderful job of showcasing and promoting it.
This brought tears to my eyes. I am so glad that you were gifted these machines to be their guardian. I say gifted because you have received more than just a few machines, you have received a legacy. I am so glad for you. Thank you Mary.
I'm so happy for you Caleb that you were able to keep legacy alive and to help these machines alive instead being scrapped. you have been blessed ! I am excited with what you can make with all the machines ! ps please make sure to get some leather cream/moisturizer for the belts ! just like our skin needs moisturizing in the cold so do the belts. ! I moisturize my leather 2-3x a year to keep them supple , but you may need to do it more often.
I'm almost speechless! I think Mr. Brown may have had a hand in bringing this perfect exchange about. Kaleb, you will absolutely be paying this legacy forward (I love the gold coin story). I look forward to seeing all these in action again. And I think you will safely be able to say that your house is about the ONLY one ever restored with original equipment!
Congratulations Caleb on your extraordinary new/old/vintage machines! You are so deserving of these beauties. I know you will create amazing, wonderful pieces with them. Bless Mary for giving you the opportunity to be the next caretaker of these priceless machines.
Kaleb, your passion for these machines is truly special. The lady who sold it to you and gave you all the tools could not have chosen a better person than you for all of it! I don't know anything about building or restoration, but you make it so interesting! Thanks 😊
How many people would appreciate this wonderful gift from a lovely woman in Wisconsin? Only one person I can think of! Kaleb! Congratulations to you for this treasure of a lifetime!
I am just flabbergasted! I think that I heard angels singing. This is utterly amazing, what an amazing story. God bless Mary, her wonderful late husband and you.
How unreal man! It’s so amazing that your path crossed with Mary’s. Surreal is the only word I can think of. Truly excited for you my guy! Can’t wait to see these beauties in action and the magic you create in restoring not only your home but others in st.Louis!
I'm just now beginning to realize that the Hall&Brown Brand was a really big deal! Like the Miele or Siemens of our time. (Im german, so this brands come to mind.) I'm watching your videos since the start of your channel, but it never sank in how big a deal this Trademark was in the US. Feeling foolish, but happy at the same time to watch important pieces of history preserved and loved! You are a genius for keeping the tradition alive!!! Looking forward to seeing those machines in working order. Thanks to Mary, who saw the same passion and willingness to work hard in you as we all do that like your channel so much. I'm sure she will be happy with her decision to give everything to you as time goes on.
When you build your shop at the back of the house, I hope you will build it large enough to accommodate these machines and that you will turn it into a working museum and show people how they are used.
Congratulations Kaleb! Thank you, Mary! Kaleb, I'm thinking about the working museum you have there. I've paid admission to see relics behind ropes; I'd definitely pay to see them working!
I build furniture here in Pennsylvania and I love to see your passion and your wanting to preserve these pieces of historic machinery. I use an old bandsaw that I've restored for my furniture making and it's great to see your saving all those important pieces of history
No one deserves this more than you. I know Mary is beyond grateful to have passed on this equipment to someone with as much appreciation and passion as her husband had. ❤️
So appreciate your wonderful efforts, your talent and work ethic...but your "attitude of gratitude" and knowledge of what God has truly blessed you with makes me very happy. Great channel and can't wait till your home is finished one day! Cheers from a retiree from Wilmington, NC
seems like restoring and remaking new doors and windows for historic buildings would make a good business, especially if you can have it close to home. :) this is absolutely wonderful!
Wow, Kaleb this is so marvelous. Mary did well to sell the collection intact to you. What a huge positive to how much you can do yourself to work on your home and to help others in the future.
You DO have an amazing find!! A treasure trove! Though I have zero knowledge about them, it brought tear to my eyes from the generosity of the woman who knows her husbands treasured tools to good use and loving care!
This is your dream come true. This machinery package came full circle straight back to you !😊 May you be a good steward of these machines, and as you use them, remember Mary and her husband's wonderful gift to not only you and your home, but to every home that will be touched by all the future projects you'll be restoring.
Wow, what a stunning collection. Can't get over how complete it is! And an equally stunning act of generosity from Mary. Here's the tools of your upcoming career, laid out right in front of you! What an amazing moment in your life. I'm sure you'll make wonderful things with this machinery. It found a great home. Best of luck with it all.
Dude; thats amazing. when you get a shop set up with that gear you have to name it after Mary and her late husband. greetings from new zealand. Im doing up a 1930s dairy factory workers cottage. Slightly less ambitious than your house, love what you guys are doing
*Kia ora (hello) Kaleb, what an amazing collection to be gifted to you by the wonderful Mary of her late husband's machinery collection. First thing is get all of these wonderful machines insured...oh and put in fire alarms inside your home too. Now is the time to buy the land next door..... and build a huge building to house all these machines... and then start using them all. I have left a special message in Mary's comment for you to also read. Kia kaha (stay strong) and be well. NZ*
I grew up in Sidney, Ohio in the 1950's and was in the old Sidney Machine Tool Company factory several times as a child. It was an old brick 19th century factory building and still in business then. Thanks for saving all of this material.

I'm sure the spirits of Mr Brown and Mr Hall are giggling with glee. Thank you for saving so much history and craftsmanship.
This equipment really couldn’t have gone to a more passionate and deserving guy. I started watching your channel because of your passion for what you’re doing, not because I knew anything about Victorian home restoration. Really looking forward to see what you do with this equipment in the future.
100% 🤩
Ok, you really DID get the deal of a lifetime! Congrats. It'll be put to good use!
I'm so happy that all your dreams are coming true! A grand house! A great wife! And original tools and machines! I hear the gratitude in your voice and the passion in your face! Unbelievable really!!! But true.

Wow….there are still wonderful people around us. What a wonderful gift. Thank you Mary.
Wonderful to see these machines bought by someone who really appreciates them and will put them to good use!
What a special lady Mary is. Sending love and gratitude to her and her family x
What a blessing. Mr. Brown would have loved how his legacy is being remembered and honored. I am so glad this came to a humble man like you. A great new chapter to the book you will write someday.
💕😭Mary sounds like an absolute gem! How beautiful for her to pay it forward and honor her husband's passion in this way.
Brought tears to my eye! There are still great folks out there. 👏❤️
What an emotional episode to watch. It’s truly wonderful to see your unwavering commitment to quality in your restoration work. Mary was very wise to entrust her late husband’s woodworking machinery to you, a very compassionate and charitable person.

Your respect and appreciation for these machines and the fact that you’ll use them to restore your home is an honor to her husband…and that’s what probably matters to her more than anything.
I am picturing your restored\historical workshop being a project featured on a season of the PBS show: This Old House
Yes!
Your passion gets me teary eyed.
That is the sweetest, most human thing that Mary could have done. She saw in this young man what we all see. Mary you are my hero.

Now you definitely need to do the shop in the backyard. Maybe even bigger than you planned.

So much work went into making those gorgeous machines, something that modern technology can never duplicate, I'm impressed that you know so much about them.
Started watching after Jeffs video about your lift/control panel. Your videos are awesome, and very motivational.
I'm speechless. This is simply beyond words.

That's awesome that you got all the beautiful machinery from that woman in Wisconsin....
I'm so happy those machines are with you, I know you are going to honor their legacy. Guess the garage museum is coming sooner rather than later and I'm excited to see it
Our lifetime is so brief . What is our legacy , what endures ? Even the story gets lost or changes if it is retold .
Thanks for the great movie, Kaleb. I have fond memories of many trips to Chilton, WI with my dad and uncle Jim to pick up these machines. I know my uncle would be happy to know these machines went to someone who is equally passionate about them

seems like restoring and remaking new doors and windows for historic buildings would make a good business, especially if you can have it close to home.
What a beautiful story as the circle of life continues because every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end. CHEERS!
Some of these machines were waiting for you, Kaleb, weren't they,?❤
Wow, what a stunning collection.
Those machines could not possibly have gone to a better home and I'd say Mary knew that, well done lad, you deserve them!!
So happy and overjoyed that you were blessed with this wonderful gift!!
It is a miracle that those machines and tools will be used to give new life to those wonderful old houses.
I am absolutely salivating at your tool shop collection! They were kept in great condition. A loving craftsman must have owned them.
