This brings back memories. I fished Loch Brora about 40 years ago, I was just dapping for sea trout, never caught anything but it was very enjoyable. That young lady was ecstatic with that lovely salmon, and she played it well. Well done you for netting it and giving her some sound advise.

Thanks once again for your kind words Brian, they are much appreciated. I’m delighted to hear that you’ve fished the loch, it’s a truly ancient and magical place, where dreams can come true.

Ruth deserves a medal for landing that fish. It was a cracker of a fish especially on a trout rod. Tight lines from an older Salmon angler in AUS.

Nothing quite like a salmon on a trout rod, bet she felt every minute of that fight and her heart was pumping. Class ❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Not sure if Ruth was lucky or the fish was unlucky! Either way a good recovery and great result for both👍

Many thanks for your kind words Iain, much appreciated. Everyone who catches a salmon these days is definitely lucky and I suppose the salmon was lucky too, for back in the day, it would definitely have become the centre of attention…. on the dinner table….. not on a RUclips video, swimming away!

      Couldn’t agree more Sean 😂
Trying to release the bind from the spool with a salmon pulling hard on the line, as it tried to get back to the sea, was definitely not easy. Ruth holding the rod and the camera and me holding the bound up spool….. comedy gold 🎣😂
