Hello Dennis . Great to see you out in the fields making hay when the sun shines. That is some good looking hay. I hope you will be able to get everything baled before the next rain comes .That crop saver sounds expensive .Have a good day take care .
Even though it’s a four year old video, I’m happy to have found it. Nice to see a real farmer running some NH machines. While that’s what we’ve ran for generations, I’m open minded on what’ll be next. Nice to see a T5 in action. Cheers 🍻 🇺🇸🦅🇺🇸
My grandpa used to say that the clover seed is always there you just gotta get the ph right to make it grow to its fullest potential. Snd that field is absolutely beautiful crop of hay buddy. You sure got it going your way. Hopefully it's still producing this year like it was that year.
Pretty hay right there .. I live in northeast Ga and we cut all our hay about 2 weeks ago .. we were in a drought and now it’s rained for 5 days straight with 2 more to go .. Thanks for sharing Dennis love your videos
'God bless the weatherman' those poor folks work hard doing all those calculations, then their chance of getting it right still comes down t 'anb educated guess', doesn't it? So far so good I guess. That crop you have looks healthy enough, so I'll keep my fingers crossed now for good drying weather for you.
Beautiful field Dennis! Wouldn't it be nice if they we all like that. Can't wait to see you bailing it. I'm sure its all in the barn now. Glad you didn't get the rain then, that we are getting now, and will continue to get the next few days. I'm sure you have been rained out the last couple days.
Interesting cutter, (offset to tractor) lots of universals to grease on that PTO. Really like the channel & beautiful hay!! Newly subscribed from Mid-Atlantic area. Take care!
Wow, what a beautiful field of hay. And a nice machine to cut it with. Man U can really go fast cutting. I bet it will bale up good. Look forward seeing you baling it. Take care Dennis. 🙏👍👍👍
Exactly! Get those ones that tell well it’s not gonna keep the rocks or anything from flying out the side and I tell go look at the side there is a huge hunk of metal over there blocking
Hay looks beautiful Dennis. I have a lot of the same kinda fields. I take all the ground no one wants. Thanks for sharing. Even though I mow hay almost every day the sun shines I still enjoy watching others do it. I know you definitely don’t need it but I gave ya a shoutout on my channel cause you have such good videos.
Wow. That looks great. I'm trying to rehabilitate a few old pastures for hay. I know it'll take a couple three years. Other than weeding, fertilizer, and lime, I'm not sure what else would help. I just started at it. It is mostly natural Coastal Bermuda and Bahia grass.
I remember in the 1960s there was a weather forecasting service out of Denver, Colorado that the local Wisconsin radio station used. They were very accurate and could often tell the exact time of day the rain would come. It seems like the weather patterns have changed so much since then. Instead of rain over large areas, it seems more spotty with more heavy downpours.
Some good APPs for weather; MyRadar, WeatherUnderground. Also Agrible,Inc Southern Region Ag Forecast with Eric Snodgrass has a great extended forecast. We like the wind patterns on MyRadar to show the atmospheric flow, there are many options for viewing. Happy Harvesting!
Well it looks like we've got your rain here now 😣. I reckon a hydroswing mower would be a nice investment 😆. I've pretty much done the same with my fields. Basically I'm stupid enough to take the small, annoying fields that every one else is clever enough to leave alone 😂😂😆
@@DLHFarms if you would rather I can send you a email and you can just explain it like that if you want. I have a few field that I need to fix and start getting better hay from and not sure how
Basically what I did was lime it 2 tons to the acre. Then drilled orchard grass and Timothy in it. Then I put 300 pounds to the acre of 19-19-19 on it the last three years in the spring. I have also put some dry manure and liquid manure on it a couple times in the last 3 years. It takes time it don't just happen over night.
Mowers been on my tractor for 3 weeks sitting in the barn. Cant buy hay weather this year in northern kentucky. The only hay been done in this area so far is haylige. Cool and wet. Really weird weather.
Be very satisfying to be mowing such a good crop after all expense and time put in .well worth it for many years to come .on the massey check out 1st sloping bonnet massey made .used to drive one 1996 massey 6140 they 90 hp sloping bonnet really good loader work.
@@DLHFarms ye am a massey man .nothing be the same on 5712 to that apart from sloping bonnet. Only thing didn't like had normal clutch and forward and back you had to put clutch pedal to the floor then move lever on steering column pleased that's all changed years ago. Dyna 4 and shuttle great know.Dennis
I often wonder how the decision is made to do things, like mowing a field. That mower looks like it runs best off to the right. Does it also track along behind, or even to the left? Are you mowing to the right to prevent driving on the standing hay? Does it knock it down, and make it harder to mow if it's not offset? You seem to be following the basic outline of the shape of the field. With each pass, you seem to stick to the basic shape. Does this help out in some way? Is it just drivers choice, or does it somehow make a better mowing process? I understand the limits of the parcel, but once around the edges, can you straighten out the rows? Would it make it easier to navigate? Or would it make some other unknown problems? It would seem that the easiest way would be straight lines, and that would be based on the second or third trip around, but reduce the amount of steering, backing, and unnecessary trips around tight corners with unproductive moves. Just curious! Thanks.
The mower is offset to the right so you don't run over the standing hay because once it's mashed down it don't cut it off clean. This mower can be run straight behind you but it's only purposes for doing that is to steer it around poles. This mower only swings out to the right but they make mowers called hydro swings that can mow off either side. This particular field is long and narrow and has a clump of trees right in the middle of it and makes mowing it any other way than what I was doing difficult. I have a video somewhere that talks about how I like to mow my fields normally about 5 rounds on the outside then start going back and forth in the middle in straight lines.
Looks good! Our hay here has been marginal this year. It has rained almost non stop so a lot of the pastures have not been sprayed or fertilized, and a lot of the wheat turned before farmers could cut it for hay, so wheat hay will be almost non-existent. I'm fixing to start our grass hay next week if weather prevails. So far the Bermuda is very stunted due to the cool weather. It'll be interesting! On another note, what do you use to mount your camera to the equipment? I want to try that but don't want the camera to get bucked off, either. Thank you!
Have you ever seen a mower that’s become very common here in Sweden, called a ”Butterfly”? Its one mower in the front and one at each side, behind the tractor. Then you would be very efficiant, having a job aside as you do... Maybe help your neighbors and get some income on the investment?

No, I normally have really good grass in wet spots.

I do not know anything about hay but that looks good enough to eat (if I was a cow or sheep)

i would like to know what you did to get from a trashy field to beautiful field like that
No tilled some good seed in then lots of lime, fertilizer and some cow manure
Takes 2 or three years to get to this point it don't change in one year.
How do you have time to run a full time excavating business and do this on the side - seems like too much to stay on top of
Excavating is my dad's business.
Beautiful
Thanks!
Thought I would see the demo JD mowing?
It's coming.
Great video. Now many acres of hay do you do a year?
100 acre twice a year
I've seen round bales on fire out in the field before. Is that from bailing too wet?
Tom Waldo can be or lightning also
Normally one bale by itself can't make enough heat to ignite.
Great video
Thanks!
Good looking stuff. Think you will sell it all or be keeping it?
Whats a bale going for down there?
I sell all my hay that's my business, don't have any live stock or anything. I'm getting 45 for a 4x5 roll and 5.50 for a square bale.

Do ya thing the knocking in the baler due to timing issues caused the knocking in the T5 ???
No
Love our H7230 wouldn't trade it
It's a good mower!
I miss cutting hay
Noel Hohberger heard that for sure
Me too, been a couple weeks now.
Do you run across some rabbits, raccoons, or other wildlife in that grass with that mower?
Yes you do, usually rabbits, baby deer, or turkeys on the nest.
Yes occasionally you do. I try to stop if I see something.
Very thick for orchard grass and fescue. Hope u get 2-300 bales off that
Thanks Keith!
Awesome yield! How is the fuel burn on the T5 now the HP is dialed up?
I can't tell much difference in it. I haven't checked it but I'm not fueling any more often than normal. Still runs forever on a tank
DLH Farms yeah I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone complain about the fuel economy of a Fiat engine!
Thanks for the video Dennis. Are you done with that glass factory pad?
Oh yeah the pad is done and most of the steel is up.
That amount is going to make bales fast, may have to wind out the weight or have busted strings.
I round rolled this field.

Yes I do. Thanks for watching!
Hey, hey, oh wait, hay!!!

I often see no front attachment. Is this not usual in your Region?
When you don't need a front attachment it's better to take it off for visibility sake.
Lookin’ good! What is your approximate MPH ground speed?
About 7mph
you need a discbin that turns both ways
Sometimes
Can u wrap that wetter hay for silage?
No
is there any advantage with them grasses and your market to cut them sooner for higher quality?
Around here you never get to choose when you want to cut the weather determines that for you.
@@DLHFarms lol yep. With the Bale wrapper that has helped us a lot for cutting on time. Kind of like when we chopped hay. You only needed a couple day window.

Sorry if this a repeat.
I haven't dynoed but should be about 125 hp at the pto.
Nice pasture dude.
What cultivar was that cocksfoot/ orchard grass?
Orchard grass.
Nice video
Thanks!
How long does it need to lay on the ground after you cut it? Before you can bail it?
About 3 days
How come you don’t pull the mower in and back out when making a sharp turn? Lookin good!
I do sometimes.
is this before or after you got the 6130R. How did you like JD in the field.
Before, videos coming on that

Looks good man how many bails a season do y’all roll?
I don't do that many rolls, more focused on square bales
10-4 we only square bale around 500 a year on our costal feild but usually roll around 2500 bales for the public
I roll about 300 and square around 5500
