I love their records and the quality is great. But my problem is the shipping and customer service. They ship via the super slow media mail and the USPS is so chronically understaffed that the packages arrive crushed and bent up. If you want a replacement, you can't phone them, you have to email and they can take over a week to reply, and then sometimes you just get a form letter response saying they're working on the problem. Today is Jan 4 and my December record of the month hasn't even been shipped! OK, the holidays are busy, but they should hire more people to work for the holidays...Business 101

Sorry to hear this. I'm in the UK and the shipping (for the most part) has been ok. No folding or crushing! That sounds awful! I agree they should be faster to reply in these cases.

The value used to be fairly awful for us the the UK but in the last two years vinyl prices have rocketed here and VMP not so much, so if I buy a long subscription at once with the 5 or 8 free records it lowers the vmp price to around 21 quid a release! With the last two or three UK releases ive bought being around the 45 quid plus delivery, makes VMP almost look a bargain!
thanks for the content, love this channel

I did a year of it but with the price increase and just the overall lack of records I wanted I stopped doing it. Sound quality was also inconsistent. Many records sounded excellent but I also had several that were noisy and poorly pressed. GZ is a bad source of vinyl.

I want to place a pre-order on a item and it says estimated warehouse arrival in mid September (subject to change). My question is does this company really get them or are they like other places i've tried and said they are getting, but I end up waiting for months and I just give up and cancel the order.

I'm finding a great value in the club... I love hip-hop and they've had really good offerings. Joined about 3 years ago now and it's been rare that I could not find anything that I liked for the month. Having the option to bank credits for the future if there is nothing to your liking that month is excellent.

Personally, i think you can't go wrong, with VMP, the essentials pick is always interesting, with my favorites probably being, a tribe called quest - low end theory pressed at 45rpm, the thin Lizzy you show in the video made me a fan of thin lizzy and Bruce Springsteen - Nebraska is a stunner.
I have only ever got one record from the classic line, justmenta by Bill Withe rs but its fantastic
The same with hip hop, most rap albums i get from them come from the essentials line but they're pressing of run DMC is raisin hell is phenomenal. Don't know how it compares to the mofi, but it's still a great press
Their country line is fantastic for a country music fan, some highlights and clues. They're pressing a Johnny Cash live at Folsom prison, depressing a shotgun Willie by Willie Nelson wich is AAA, they're pressing of honky tonk heroes by Waylon Jennings AAA, depressing of Alan Jackson's a lot about living little about love The only place you can get this out of my vinyl is through VMP, as well as the pressings of artists like Brad Paisley, sturgill Simpson, and George strait
Also, they're rock line. The first five so far have been fantastic and I have no doubt that the ZZ top coming this December is probably going to be the best one yet just based on their track record book 70s hard rock
Also, they have a limited Dolly Parton series and there has been some great pressings in their whether it's their pressing of Jolene, just because I'm a woman, hello im Dolly, and one of her most underrated albums from the 2000s little sparrow
I look forward to what VMP's releasing way more vinyl reissue company

Hi Mark, thanks for this video. I’ve been collecting this time around for only about 16 months and it’s been mainly about picking up a load of old favourites and recommendations from various channels. I also use Tidal to pre-listen, saving me from a few mistakes.
First time around, in the eighties, I belonged to a record club and it worked out well for similar reasons you describe. One thing I’ve just set up is a new record shelf to I give my latest purchases a fair crack.
Back when I started I couldn’t afford multiple new records every week, or even month. That meant playing my latest acquisition many times over. It’s amazing how a few spins would turn something from ho hum to holy moly! This is one of the main reasons I returned to vinyl.
I’m going to have a look into this.

    • @soundmatters
      @soundmatters  11 месяцев назад

Thanks Mark. Yes, it's amazing how much your opinion on a record can change after several listens. I fear streaming doesn't encourage this kind of attention span and it's one of the many factors that drew me to record collecting. I think the "new record shelf" is a good idea.

How does sound quality of colour discs compare to traditional black? Is black inherently better sounding or does it all depend on the engineer?

    • @ajmoore2201

Production of coloured vinyl has improved drastically over the years. Coloured vinyl now days is generally every bit as good as standard black
