God, I dont like this one whatsoever, I cant morph into anybody so don't expect any flashy gameplay, just bare bone basics Im afraid. Unlike my UMK3 run, you wont find combos or anything 'decent' in the fatality department, Subby's has been censored. : Anyways, if you can, find a better version, this one isnt so hot -

ABACABB man... after 23 years I still I remember... XD
Me TOO AND TO THUNK THAT CODE WOULD REMIND OF US OF A ICONIC MUSICIAN BAND LET alone A NAME OF A VIDEO GAME SYSTEM
Genesis, "ABACABB." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Me toooo
...yes, strictly one the things I would never forget... ABACABB
And DULLARD
I just LOVE the way you get "ambushed" by Goro in this game! From the start everyone knows he's more fierce than Shang Tsung from the character select, it really plays on people's anticipation seeing his portrait in the ladder and his statue in one of the stages, everyone just keeps furiously wondering what it'll be like when you get up to him, and then as a surprise they just throw him right in your face lmao Super Cool way to introduce a "sub" (and I use that prefix lightly) boss !!!
Future games should really take note and example of stuff like this from the past, amazing how much that one decision affects the atmosphere of the game! It adds so much to the anticipation and fear lmao
It was the 90s when everything was cool. People didnt suck then and had cool ideas..
@@antoneckhart4010 I was alive in the 90s and just old enough to see the sea of mediocre “me too” fighting, platform and FPS games. For very original and/or well executed game/movie etc there were at least a dozen shitty imitators.
The mega drive music rocks
Playing MK1 on Mega Drive without the Blood Code is plain stupid..!
je bent zelf hartstikke stom
Rowie Capellen vsf
Cristina Why? :'(
Cristina is right! Vai se foder!
You mean, not as good as the snes version.
Hey dude, why no ABACABB?!!!!!!
For what control flaws it may have had this was the best version in terms of music. So cool.
THE BLOOD CODE
FULFIL THE BLOOD CODE
if you get that reference you are epic
ABACABB, I think I did it wrong
AB AC ABB
Soundtrack is too sick it should be banned! Literally everything about this game is classic, much better than the SNES version (except part II). Top game by all standards.
Ecesce
@Retro Storm The SNES port had shit music though, and it had no blood.
@Retro Storm The music is unmemorable compared to the Genesis version, apart from the main theme which was good in both versions.
And no, blood and Fatalities are much more than "color on the screen".
0nly1truth Yes we are yes the graphics are poor the sound is atrocious but the gameplay is excellent so that beats out the SNES version.
@@wizzgamer the sound isn't atrocius
Only in my adult years can I appreciate how well this conversion was put together. That opening music, that opening screen teasing you if Mortal Kombat has a 'code'...so cool...
I remember the original blood code it was AB AC ABB
I get it....ABACABB..Genesis...Genesis being a band with ABACABB being one of their songs...I smell Coincidence.
The plinky-plonky clangy FM title music is awful. The Amiga version had the best audio.
A B A C A BB NA HORA Q O JOGO COMEÇA ATIVA O SANGUE E AS EXECUÇÕES
At the very beginning, instead of skipping/missing/forgetting, you were really supposed to promise to remember to think twice about turning on/entering the blood code, "ABACABB" at the Code of Honor screen this way for once.
love some of the music from certain stages! get this shit on itunes!!!
I practically spent over a year at my best friend's house because of this game the memories and the soundtrack wish I could go back get over here finish him
I forgot how much fun Mortal kombat just is.
Faz 28 anos atrás 😍 eu tenho essa versão e a arcade ♥️
... Childhood-Memories... I played this Game almost every Day with my Friends (But with Blood of course (A,B,A,C,A,B,B)! Now, i have it on my SNES - it's also a very good Game, i love it. No Blood but who cares about it...
He should have gotten a 'Double Flawless' and performed an uppercut on the opponent after "FINISH HIM/HER!" in "The Pit" to fight Reptile.
Sub zero with skin of Scorpion? Snes version was more near of original...
*Super NES version:* Has GFX and SFX close to the arcade version.
*Sega MegaDrive version:* Has gameplay close to the arcade version.
Ken Masters Yes so Mega Drive wins still a terrible conversion but they got the gameplay right so it still beats the SNES.
SNES may be closer to the arcade for music, but I prefer the Mega Drive music, as it's far more punchier than the other versions.
Solar Flare, that's the thing, we wanted the full arcade experience in the home, Matt Furniss instead took liberties with the music, making it feel a little less than an arcade experience at home.
@Wizzgamer, It didn't get the gameplay right though, it was just too damned easy to cheese the CPU, unlike the arcade version, where the CPU was cheap as hell. Though you could cheese the CPU with repeated jumpkicks with certain timing and spacing, but you couldn't Scorpion Spear them into submission repeatedly, unlike the Genesis version. The SNES one with certain characters, you could foot sweep the CPU into submission, except with Sonya as her sweeps were faster than anyone elses in the game.
Also Genesis has the best music of them all.
I recommend the PSN/XBLA re-release version of MK1 because it is 100% accurate to the arcade version.
That's because it IS the arcade version running on the Unreal engine, and the sound effects were totally different to the arcade version for some stupid reason. They also didn't fix the improperly looped ending credits music for 1 and 2 seen in the Midway Arcade Treasures 2 and MK Deception releases on the PS2, Gamecube, and X-Box.
MORTAL KOMBAT 1992 ROCKS FOR SEGA GENESIS !!!
Batman & Robin's BAD BAD LUC and Aladdin's ABBA ABBA skip level codes are easy to remember too. After entering them about 1000 times back then, lol
I understand, but when it comes down to it, this was the version everyone wanted in home consoles. Why? Because of BLOOD! And I'll be sure to watch 2, its my favorite of all MKs after all.
This was fun when it came out, but the home versions have not stood the test of time at all. The arcade version is still a blast to play, the home ports, not so much. The fun was in playing in the home at that time for the first time, but that first time is long, long ago now.
6:17 the Pit song
Mega Drive Longplay [030] Mortal Kombat 0:00/19:48
My favorite 90's best a video 📹 games 🎮 that are in karate just with one player 👌 for Mortal Kombat (1992 Mega Genesis).
Combat fighting 💪 and then his number great 👍 well quality is a the game.
I still have my Sega Genesis with Mortal Kombat and I be putting the blood code in for the bloody fatalities
hi when that grey screen with writing comes up if using Sega then press abacabb at that writing
and it gives u the blood cheat
Yeah, I used to use cheats because it was fun to see the effects. Now they're just cheap.
@gusto1978 If you don't enter the blood code at the start of the game, the fatalities are toned down versions of themselves, depending on the violence in the original fatality. Sub Zero has this stupid uppercut, Kano has a kick to the chest I think and so on. Once you enter the code they regain the original arcade fatalities.
Hasta el mismo Ed boon dijo que le gustaba más la música de esta versión.
I prefer Dan Forden's compositions myself, far more darker and ominous, doesn't sound like I am at a dance rave.
I agree. Bash in ABACABB on the "code" screen then DULLARD. Opens up the blood and guts.
I always put these in.
I remember playing the chinese hack for the japanese Nes in a Nes clone. Shang Tsung looks like a floating older mas spirit with dress, and Goro is shorter than the player. Damn.
Good for you, its irrelevant whether the Amiga version had one piece of music or twenty, it sounded better than all other versions.
As for it sounding like it was played through a pillow, not so, of course if you played it natively on REAL Amiga hardware you would know this.
So thanks for your input, but categorically, the Amiga version had all others beat for sound.
Its as close to a fact as there ever was! ;)
MK without blood and fatalities is not MK.
Usou TAS ! hahahahaaaaa.... jogo com TAS kkkkkkk........
I just realized this game has very awesome and appropriate music
no entiendo porque dejó desactivadas la fatalities y la sangre, cuando tenia mi sega genesis fue para mi lo mas divertido del juego
It sure was fun. It only got more fun, and dangerous, with Gameshark. By dangerous I mean...I fried my whole first PS2 memory card by activating a cheat in Silent Hill 3 that let me open any door...and I saved...yeah, I'm not that dumb any more...
or, down, up, left, left, A, right, down. Debug mode gives access to even more options!
@leviwellsysback Characters only have 1 fatality in this MK. Also, if he had turned on the blood via cheat code, you would have seen Sub-Zero's head rip instead of the lame uppercut.
But the SNES version has no blood and gore, which is what Mortal Kombat is known for.
Thumbs up if you think this needs virtual counsel release
This version leaves a lot to be desired, even with the blood & gore.
Fortunately, now there is a patch called "arcade edition", it improves the game a lot.
@manciassc At about 0:48 I expected to see "Now Entering Combat", accompanied by Scorpion's "Get Over Here". They didn't appear, so I stopped watching the video and searched for a proper longplay.
Shang Tsung me dava arrepios com essa aparência dele kkkk
That ABACABB code will stay in our heads till we can't remember it anymore.
No doubt
Bring back memories, but Scorpion says "GET OVER HERE!"
kega lazarus. u can download romnation
4:46 Liu Kang got a taste of his own medicine
Best port... the sound is more atmospheric than any other version, even the arcade. This and SNES's original Street Fighter II are beyond anything else.
Pffft...
i can count ze frames hihi so cute and nostalgic. shoulda stayed this way, soon we won't be able to tell what's real :(
cod for blood a b a c a bb.
it was impossible to fight reptile on the sega version!
O vídeo é da hora o Mortal kombat 1 do Mega Drive é bom, más podia ter sido feito melhor aproveitado a capacidade do console.
Epic
love the music. the player select screen theme song is so awesome. also love the the music in goro's lair.
The first mortal Kombat I play when I was 9 years old one generation later my niece discover mortal Kombat 11 on RUclips
you need the brutal verson
The SNES version isn't inferior because of the lack of blood. The SNES version is inferior because it plays like fucking crap. You can't even cancel jump kicks into shadow kicks, its an awful port.
You speak the truth. Also, if you have a 6 button Genesis pad this game is so much better!
one of the worst MK PORTS and dude what the hell, u must always press abacabb its mandatory
Actually one of the best ports compared to the SNES version.
DULLARD. Down up left left A right down
The Mortal Kombat 1 Sega Genesis version looks trash in my opinion.
Yeah this version sure wasn't going to win any beauty contests, that's for sure.
@anuslee Emulators work, if you have a fast computer, or you could buy a capture card and hook it up to your Genesis :D
this was so big when it first hit the home consoles
it's just probably one hell of the 80th time you uppercut the CPU's opponent with Subb-Zero.
censorship = no Mortal Kombat
ABACABB
No blood code in this version like US region?
This version had an unmatched creepy vibe
A majority of the music sounds like a dance rave, hardly dark at all.
LOL so true, 3 cheats I remember to this day Street Fighter 2 Turbo / Snes "the turbo cheat", Sonic 1 and Sonic 3 on the Mega Drive, Sonic 3 level select cheat was the hardest because you had to do it so fast and it would only work on the official controllers because the Dpad could spring back fast enough to do it "UP UP DOWN DOWN UP UP UP UP" you had to do that with in 1 second and it was even worse on the Import version the Pal version was the easiest because it would boot slower lol good days
This version isn't bad, you didn't put in the blood code which is "ABACABB", and while it's graphically inferior from the SNES version, it plays better and sounds better.
Sounds better? Nah. Plays better? Debatable as both Genesis and SNES versions are too easy, even if I can usually 1 credit the arcade version as well.
Does anyone else find it utterly ironic that monks are nonchalantly watching such brutal fights? ._.
som do mega 1000 melhor que o super nes
Not if one liked the arcade music better than whatever this is that Matt Furniss took unnecessary creative liberties of. The arcade soundtrack is far better than whatever this is supposed to be.
Man Mortal Kombat is great klassic. Everytime I see a video of any MK it makes me want to play MK.
@hybridfury HAHA XD no mate you misunderstood me! :D
the "DULLARD" code enables the flag/shadow/reptile quotes cheat option on the main menu screen! :D
DULLARD stands for Down,Up,Left,Left,A,Right,Down :) D.U.L.L.A.R.D see
no worries bro,
peace
5:10 eu sempre imagino essa música no arcade. Sinistra e maravilhosa!
Dropzera monstro
Sorry, hands down the Amiga version has all other versions beat for sound.
ahh man! memories!
YEYEYE _ I want this game _
yo that isnt a fatality u duin its jus uppercuttin tha dude
The only thing that made this version more playable was the blood code. Other than that, the sound quality and graphics compared to the SNES.
It played also much better than the SNES version, also, i like the music better although it's different from the arcade.
No constructive fight,no combos, same ez fatality...Its sooo hard to watch this
Yeah, how strange. After all these years, the only video game cheat codes I still remember today are for 2 MegaDrive games : the blood code for this Mortal Kombat 1 (A, B, A, C, A, B, B) and the stage select code for Sonic 1 (up, down, left, right, A + START). I guess it's because I entered these codes a lot more than for other games...
I remember playing this at toys r us back in 199? Shit I now it was along time ago lol
I got a Sega Genesis look like that one I hate that looks good I wish I didn't do that I do a scorpion way better than Sub-Zero press block and up up
MASTERPIECE!
Best soundtrack ever!
I never made it to Goro...
SmokeFrostHeart, you really don't know about the blood code in this port, do you?
Ah the DULLARD cheat. My dad got to Reptile through literally about a month of trial and error, with DULLARD I may have been cheating, but I got to him in 5 minutes. Ah cheats....something that seems to be disappearing completely from new age games...
sou eu
The sprites on this version look too short for the screen height - very strange. Kick-butt music though! I like how Sub-Zero is basically just a palette-swap of Scorpion, his stance gives it away! 🤣
Pure beast bruh I give u that
Should have put gore mode on. Nearly 30 yrs later, I still remember the code. ABACABB 🤣.
😂😂😉💋
Y U NO USE BLOOD CODE?
LOL Yea I remember that we always used to think people with Snes's smelled a little lol how childish we were!
