I hope you enjoy this labour of love! After you've watched this, I've made this follow on video with tips on visiting Jordan: ruclips.net/video/N4IBbMQSPlk/видео.html
Love your channel. Thank you for this video. Is it safe for a solo middle age woman to travel there? Also I speak English and Spanish, will I be able to get around with either language?
I returned from Jordan three days ago, so the memories are very fresh. I was in Jordan for six nights seven days as a solo traveller - not as part of a group. I rented a car from Avis and covered all the places mentioned in this video and more (although, of course, this video represents highlights). I went at the start of September 2022 and the temperatures were very high - not a blade of green grass as shown in this video. My recommendations for anyone undertaking a similar trip would be as follows. 1. Don’t think about going in July or August. September is very hot, October or November, before the rainy season, would be delightful. 2. Don’t rush Petra. I would recommend two nights staying nearby and be prepared to get up early for the two hour drive to Wadi Rum the next day, rather than making that trip late after a full day at Petra. 3. Think about staying in Madaba rather than Amman. It is just as accessible and a lot more tourist friendly. Driving in Amman takes nerves of steel and the sights of Amman can be covered in a full morning or afternoon. Make sure to have a fresh pomegranate juice (for 1JD) while at the market near the Al Husseini mosque. 4. Jerash is superb and much less of a slog than Pompeii. Give yourself a day to enjoy its sights and catch Ajloun Castle nearby. 5. The desert is awe-inspiring. Make sure you capture time in Wadi Mujib and, if possible take the drive from Madaba to Ma‘in Hot Springs and then to the Dead Sea for the best panorama bar none. 6. The wonderful Byzantine mosaics at Madaba, Umm Al Rasas and Mount Nebo will take your breath away. Finally a couple of words of “caution” 1. Jordan can be remarkably expensive and pricing can be quite predatory. Be prepared to bargain hard or walk away. 2. Jordan is starkly beautiful, but you cannot fail to see severe poverty and horrible environmental pollution.
Amazing! Going there now in November. Where to stay at the Dead Sea? Where to stay in the ďesert? Is Avis the best no local cheaper ones ? What if we rent a car only once there? Can we get out and in of Jordan on the same entry visa to go to Israel? We have 14 days. Thanks again!
@@ana-ruxandrailiescu633 From what I saw and read, getting from Jordan to Israel by land crossing is not for the faint hearted. Time consuming and expensive. There are many resorts right by the Dead Sea, ranging from the moderately expensive to the outrageously expensive : take your pick. I rented from Avis through a rental cars app. Afterwards they assured me that I would have got an even better rate is I had gone to them directly as an Avis Preferred member. My suggestion is - if you have the stomach for it and the time - hunt around and be prepared to bargain hard!
Hey. Not sure if you’ve already seen it, but I’ve done a follow up video to this one that covers tips for booking a trip to Jordan which should help also.
Thank you for video. Jordan - the best vacation of my life. For me, Pella was a beautiful and magical place. My wife and I were there alone for several hours. No tourists, just us, sheep, goats and history. Beautiful place near the Jesus cave, you can see the Sea of Galilee, Israel, Syria. The whole north of Jordan is beautiful and full of kind people.
I'm completely speechless after watching the whole video. It wasn't only just a video, it was the journey in itself that you've made us experienced. The narration is touching with lots of witty humour. When I was a young girl growing up in a small island somewhere in the Pacific, I first heard of Jordan from Biblical texts and first read about the ancient city of Petra from an encyclopedia. Ever since those days, I've dreamed of seeing the world with my own eyes. This video you just delivered reminded me of my younger years, that nostalgic childhood feeling of discovering something new (though to me now it's rediscovering). Please keep making these incredible travel videos. You've inspired the travel wonder we all have despite the constant changes we all go through in life. Thank you!
Oh I love this video so much! Great and beautiful video! I been to all these places during my visit in 2019 and enjoyed every single minute. The food is the best ever anywhere I went and the hospitality of the Jordanian people was beyond anything I expected.
This is a great video and highlights how wonderful and interesting Jordan is. I arrived back from a 9 night trip to Jordan yesterday. Their tourist numbers are currently down by 70% , with 50% of those from the USA (who are advised not to travel there). They are desperate for more tourists. We felt completely safe throughout the whole of our trip. In addition to the things you did and places you visited, I would add - 1) visit the Jordan Museum in Amman, mainly to see part of the Dead Sea Scrolls 2) visit Little Petra and do the climb over to the Silk Road 3) visit Petra from the back end, seeing the Monastery first and then walking downhill to Petra. It’s a lot easier than doing it in the other direction 4) add a restful day and night in Aqaba to chill out on the beach and swim in the Red Sea. It is very near Wadi Rum 5) see the original train from Laurence of Arabia near Wadi Rum
Wow. I am sold now on visiting Jordan. The landscape is incredibly beautiful. It looks very serene and calm. It would be amazing to visit the Old Testament highlights.
Wonderful video. This was truly a trip of a lifetime. My wife had been several times before, but this was my very first time. I visited with my wife staying with our nephews family outside of Amman for the months of March and April of 2018. He and his brothers treated us to many wonderful days of historic sights, sounds, and delicious food on a one- on -one basis since he is Jordanian. We all paid Jordanian prices to every historic sight. We visited most sights, each for an entire day. Amman was great with the shopping, amphitheater, and the food at Hashems. Petra was a rough day with lots of walking, but FASCINATING. We actually should've stayed for a second day. Jerasa, Aljun Castle, and Mt Nebo were wonderful. Plan on ALOT of walking at every sight. Wear good shoes, head covering, and water. Wadi Rum for 2 days in complete darkness at night, (The stars were AMAZING). We also spent 2 days at the same resort you stayed at, the Holiday Inn Dead Sea. We stayed for 2 days in Aqaba, where the swimming and nightlife was incredible. My bucket list is to go back again.❤❤❤ Jordan is a great country, the people are so friendly. The food was absolutely delicious. Cheers and God bless.❤🙏🏼
Unfortunately, Jordan is so underrated. This country is a mini Dubai in Amman new downtown, a mini Italy in Jerash and Irbid, a Jerusalem in Madaba, a mini Mars in Wadi rum and of course, Petra and the dead sea which are in my opinion two of the best 15 attractions in the world! The liberalism and the safety there are also remarkable!
You've done it again Paula! Remarkable video footage and narration of an incredible country I've visited in the past. I truly hope the number of viewers increase exponentially because you deserve to be a full time RUclipsr. The enormous effort you devote to making them "TV worthy" is quite evident.
Been there in 2019 with half of the family passing through Israel. Jordan is the most beautiful country I’ve seen so far. Especially Wadi Rum is breathtaking
You never disappoint!! Jordan was already on my bucket list but admittedly it bumped up a bit after watching this video.. thank you for taking us along, hope to visit soon too! ❤️
