  • Lose the love handles and build ripped athletic muscle with ATHLEAN-X athleanx.com/x/...
    Love handles is a strange term since it's tough to find a man (or woman for that matter) who loves having them! It's used to describe the body fat that accumulates on the hips just above the pelvis. In order to get rid of love handles however, we first have to break down all the myths and misinformation that surrounds this area.
    In this Truth about Love Handles (How to Get Rid of Them) video I show you not only what causes them but also what you need to do to lose them!
    Losing your love handles can only occur with a two pronged attack. One must focus on your nutrition and making sure you shed your excess body fat and the other focuses in on using the right exercises for love handles.
    Interestingly, the external obliques are at the heart of this stubborn area of fat. That said, the best love handle exercises are going to be those that involve and target this muscle the way it's meant to be trained. I show you not only what not to do, but also what I feel is the best way to get rid of love handles through both exercises and nutrition.
    This exercise not only can not only be used to workout love handles but fits in nicely with any oblique workout that you are currently doing. Doing 2-3 sets of 15-20 reps on both sides is a good start. Make sure that when you are doing this exercise that you don't push too much with the arms but focus on making the abs and core do most of the work.
    For more exercises to help carve up that waistline of yours and shred those obliques, be sure to head to athleanx.com and get our 90 day workout and nutrition program. In just 90 days you should see a noticeable shift to a more ripped, athletic body and core.
    For more workout videos for your abs, obliques and love handles be sure to check out our channel here on youtube at / jdcav24 or this workout in particular - • Lose The Love Handles ... ‎

    Fellas, if you're struggling with love handles like myself, DON'T GIVE UP, it takes shit lots of time to burn em off, just keep on working out, and eating as healthy as you can, I know it's not easy, especially the eating part.
    What helped me a lot was to quit doing 60 minutes of cardio on daily basis, I started hitting the weights, 3 times a week, and HIIT via running TWICE a week. I play soccer/football every sunday so I got the cardio covered. Just don't give up, keep on doing whatever works for you, and they'll go off one day.

    • @JomarRagos041192
      @JomarRagos041192 9 лет назад

      Gym thrice a week, HIIT via running/walking - 45 mins thrice a week.. Is that good enough? I'm losing fat/muscles showing all over. It's a shame love handles are still there. It became only a bit smaller after 2 months of doing this routine. It's a shame that the midsection is where it's hard to lose fat since that's the one part that I've always wanted to get rid off.
      I will admit though that while my diet is a bit stricter now, sometimes I still eat tiny bits of sweets. I actually ate a brownie today. I can't help it!

    • @FlatSkip
      @FlatSkip 9 лет назад +1

      Jomar Ragos yeah man, just keep on doing that. It took me almost a year of working out / kinda dieting to lose a considerable amount of love handles, and even then, they're still there.
      I have the time, so I'd rather lose them overtime than having to go full strict on my diet, because I've tried that and I barely last a week.
      It's a long battle my friend.

    • @naegleriafowleri76

      if u always had love handles, is because of genetics, they will never go away for good unless you get lipo, the only thing that removes fat cells, sure, you can lose weight to a point where the love handles are almost gone, but your genetics have not changed, you still have a high # of fat cells, any excess calories and your love handles will come back, this is what many people dont tell you, many idiots think that by just losing fat and get rid of them, then is all over, is not, all you did was shrink the fat cell, but the high number of them is still the same, it is this many fat cells that makes you prone to love handles more than other people

    He mentions that you need to get rid of the fat to see obliques and abs. I don't know if people watching this video have any common sense at all but he has said it.
    Next point, and i'll dumb it down for people who don't have a clue. Working out the muscle builds up that muscle, however, that muscle wont be visible if you have too much fat, that area will just get bigger(Especially abs), and obviously in the abs area, we don't want everything to get bigger therefore you must lose the fat. At no point has he said the workouts will get rid of the fat so yeah.
    Feel free to leave anymore dumb statements here .

    • @jackhammer8439
      @jackhammer8439 9 лет назад +5

      No I watched the video...again, please dont get me wrong I love a lot of your videos and they are great, and thank you for posting so much...its helped me add variety into my workouts(when Im not injured like at the moment...lol), and I actually watched your video on elbow pain..and really enjoyed it..I do apologize of how I said it.
      But the title of the video is how to loose love handles...telling people to work muscle in a different way wont accomplish that...I get the fact that working a muscle only will push out the fat more..but the only real way to get fat loss is cardio, and most importantly eating well, while doing core so there is something to see when you achieve the weight loss.
      Im not claiming you dont know your stuff, or are not aware of that. you did mention it for a second near the end of the video. But the ONLY way to loose the fat was far from the main point of the video,and from reading comments of those who watched it confirmed my feelings that the video leads some inexperienced people to believe that if they do this muscle workout they will lose the fat. I know that is not your point nor is that what you believe, but it is just how I feel it comes across to the inexperienced person who googles how to loose love handles and watches this video and they take away the exercise and not the diet/hard work portion of it.
      Again..I do apologize how I said it...Im usually quite blunt...and there is A LOT of shitty advice on youtube when it comes to fat loss and exercise...your videos are not among them!!...I just think a lot of people will not either get to the last part of the video or not head the importance of it.

    • @jackhammer8439
      @jackhammer8439 9 лет назад +1

      I watched it again just thinking I missed something.
      I love the exercise and am going to work it into my core day for sure. Its a great core workout, but its 6 minutes into the video until you mention the real important part of it, and that lasts less than ten seconds is all.
      A video on how to lose love handles was about core muscle work...again, I read the comments and people are thinking great this exercise will loose my love handles, never mentioning the healthy eating. If you read the comments, people are commenting on that they are happy to see an exercise to lose the love handles, while never mentioning great im going to eat well to lose them...I think you would agree with me. I dont think your intentionally trying to mislead people at all...I think people miss the point of it the way its done and titled is all.
      One guy mentioned all the ab and oblique crunches he was doing and not seeing results, then said he was going to give this a try...he didnt seem to grab the fact that working the muscle in a different way wont lose the fat that is on top of it...and while he will have a stronger core if he does this which is great, he will still not have reached his goal of actually losing the fat.

    You need to eat and eat a lot of carbs and proteins while lifting heavy for 6-15 reps each set(Not right away). That is the only way to build muscles. The thing is, if you don't go to a gym atm then you should and get a workout that fits a beginner probably from a coach in the gym. Though you should keep in mind one thing, most coaches in the gyms have no idea what they are talking about. Make sure you see the exercises on youtube/ bodybuilding com and exrx net websites.

  • @JayVincentFitness
    @JayVincentFitness 7 лет назад +332

    He kinda barely touched on the real problem for love handles; excess body fat. Your external obliques and abdominals will look great even without directly training them as long as your body fat is low enough to show them. The muscles in the midsection aren't susceptible to much hypertrophy so training them like crazy could be somewhat of a waste of time. Although, if they are larger, they will be visible while carrying slightly more body fat.
    Our bodies hold body fat in our midsection not to make us look unattractive, but to maintain center of gravity. Its just the best and most convenient place to store it so it doesn't hinder our ability to move.
    I say following Athlean-x diet program or maintaining a calorie-restricted diet to lose fat has to be the focus of eliminating those love handles.

    • @blackjackool

    I don't often comment, but I will today... mate, thank you for putting this material together and throwing it out to the public. I have 15 years training in gyms, achieved great physiques both with size and without. Bodybuilding was a big part of my life until I got a bad spinal injury at work 3 years ago.
    I lost it all.
    I've clawed my way back to training through rehab, I'm getting my PT qual as we speak, and after accepting I'm not a know it all, I am learning so much more from your evolved techniques and delivery.

    I've been cooking all my own food myself, and have cut out the fast food by 95%. Also implemented Time Under Tension in my workouts on a large scale.....those two things alone have lowered my body fat, clothes fit more loose, muscles are indeed gaining in size as a result of time under tension. In fact, I concentrate on my negative movements even more than my positive movements in my lifts. A huge difference in results.

    The onliques are still a muscle group. Part of the abdominals - a muscle group. They are just non-hinged and, perhaps, a little trickier to isolate. However, as Jeff demonstrates, they too can be isolated and concentrated on; they can't hide any longer! I must say, there is satisfaction in doing this cabled eccentric-concentric oblique exercise. The most difficult part was all the deliberation and concentration my mind applied to my body's movements, to and fro, so that my chest did not take over the exercise. Best wishes and keep working hard, all. Thanks for another helpful and insightful video, Jeff!!

    I'm 40lbs overweight and Ive done everything from side crunches to the exercise you said not to do. Your absolutely right, it starts with nutrition. The issue is finding a solid nutrition plan! I cant seem for anyone to give me an example of what the athlean-x nutrition plan looks like. Just one day of what a typical meal plan looks like while on the program would give me an idea to purchase this program. For me its about how easy are the meals to prepare? Ive done p90x but some of the meals and recipes just get to complicated that I end up just eating the stuff I like and fall completely off the plan. If I do end up buying the program do I absolutely need the supplements to sustain myself and can I just rely on food? I'm not money bags and supplements always are expensive and I'm military and cant always take them so I just tend to stay away from them. Anything helps, I really want to get on a program that I can do in conjunction with my other workouts to burn this crazy amount of fat I have and keep it off with a no nonsense nutrition plan that is easy to prepare; for the most part? I'm not totally lazy just don't want to spend 30 minutes preparing one meal after a long day at work.

  • @Fjerid
    @Fjerid 10 лет назад +16

    Wait, i thought targeting specifik fat areas was impossible? IT IS.
    The reason why stomach fat is so stubborn is because your body has the most vital organs around that area so your body is storing the fat there in order to "protect" the organs from external dangers, subconsiously. Well, this is what i've read in an interesting article some while ago. Makes sense tho, but one thing's sure, targetting specific areas to burn fat = not possible. Eat less, burn more and voila, those love handles will dissapear slowly but surely.

      game568, if you have not yet done do, I eagerly invite you to subscribe to athlean-x.com, then go to a search bar and type in the following: Athlean-x.com/(video)The Most Powerful Ab Exercise ever. A workout video by listed title above demonstrates, compliments of Jeff, a very applicable and effective way to use a weighted barbell in conjunction w/your own momentum and bodyweight to train both right and left side obliques. It's about as easy as sticking this weighted barbell in a corner as to secure it's steadiness, standing weighted barbell up (with plates closest to you), and finally, moving said barbell to and fro while your obliques work hard to stabilize your core during each and every movement. The best part is that you can progressively stack weight on the bar to continually increase resistance and challenge strength increases. Yet, Jeff is the real instructor here so check out his video, ASAP. If you're subscribed, you'd already know there are many, many more helpful videos addressing countless questions/concerns found in the world of fitness. So, access as many videos as you'd like to, and have your exercise goals really come to fruition! Athlean-X can really help! Best wishes buddy! - M.

    Don't work out your Love Handles. If your doing It STOP it! Your gonna start building muscle under there. What i recommend is getting rid of you fat. Go jog or do some cardio. If you building Love handles when u got fat over it, their are going to get even bigger than before.

    • @sn4pdr4g0ns
      @sn4pdr4g0ns 9 лет назад

      Kendoo HD Not true for me- I've been doing situps, crunches, leg raises, planks, and squats for three weeks without changing my diet or doing any cardio and my love handles have significantly flattened and toned even though I have not lost more than an inch of fat. Building muscle helps your fat sit tighter and more evenly on your body. I plan to add cardio soon to help lose excess fat all around, but unless you lose all your fat (unlikely and unsafe) your fat is still going to be loose in your "problem areas" unless you strengthen what's underneath.

    the external obliques is what stablizes your hip joint. the way to really work on them is to focus on exercises that need hip stablizing like squats/front squats/dead lifts/ militery press and so on....
    I do judo professionaly and I have massive obliquse, so do my fellow judoka, this is happening due to the fact our hips are getting insane preasure and inbalance thus the obliques get to work and fix the inbalences.
    you caan also see massive obliques on football players for the same reason, thay work with their hip joint exessively.
