I don't usually post youtube comments, but I'm really loving the teaching style on this tutorial compared to many others. Nice idea to draw the "template" and where the stopping pressure is in chalk.
That's a fair comment and wheel wear out is something I consider when stopping. My favorite method shown in this video is curving the parallel turns down the hill quickly while changing scissor. Still burns the wheels out but less then dragging a foot on the side. Controlling speed on hills is one of the trickiest things to do.
good to see that there are people still out there that encourage the destruction of your wheels in the quickest way possible. As well as absolutely destroying your bearings at the same time.
@DontMessWithToxins I have the same issue. I've found that forcing your "inside" leg forward while skating then makes your tele stronger (that inside ski doesn't just flop around). Also, lots of these excercises can be translated to skiing - ie skiing on one ski working both inside and outside edges like he does in his video on double-push. It's a kick-ass workout - after the requisite number of face-plants. :)
I think I'll aply the first two, the one of rolling and the one of the parachute XD Pretty nice explanation, I gotta try that frontal slide or however you want to call it!
I love the look of his blades (2:27). They have a strong frame, easy zip-up - but the writing on them is just a bearings advert: what do I look up to find the rollerblades? (I live in the UK)
This guy is cool I think - how skates are he using? and will this work on not so sexy asfalt with maybe 82-84a hardness in the wheels? Thanks for posting :)
amazing that it's possible doing this using skeelers instead of skates. beeing suprised he is able to make slides and parallel sharp turns. I always thought that 5 wheels stands in the way to turn like this. now i know i can choose for skeelers instead of skates with 100mm wheels if it is cheaper.
After so many years of teleskiing I just can't put my inside foot forward in a turn. I have spent days duplicating the exercises in this video. Gerrr. But a great resource regardless. Thanks.
This is easy relatively speaking. Notice though the hill is not like a typical road that is higher in the middle and as you get to the middle and go over you would accelerate. You have to do it down the middle of the road for this not to happen and to control back up to the high point each time. Cars really like that. :) So you are on one side that when you switch back to the right side you accelerate too much as you go down and need really hard cut back up-hill. I would love to see that demo-ed on this steep of a hill.
te esta mostrando la base para hacer tres diferentes movimientos desde el parabel asi como frenado de velocidad o cuña y finalmente la reduccion de velocidad en una perpendicular
I have the Lugino Struts 100mm, the only way i could break with them in high speeds is to make a 90 degree angel behind me, its effective but it ruins the wheels and those are expensive,
This is one of my favorite videos on stopping on roller blades. I practice and some back and check this video often to perform the techniques better.
One of the best demonstrations I've seen! As soon as I get this cast off my leg I'm gonna try this!

I love his energy

Thanks, Eddie. This stuff is invaluable.

The slap-chop of inline breaking.
+Anders Hansen LMFAO I thought I was the only one getting a comical vibe from this.
dude you are a maniac and i love it! thank you this will prevent many shit eating!

This is one of my favorite ideas
Very useful! I was trying to learn how to go downhill: now I'll see if it works for me.
great stopping was looking how to stop wit out the heel stop thx again:) going inline skating now heheh:)
no not usually any more. a setup with four 100 mm wheels are more common amongst speedskaters today, instead of five 80 mm wheels before..
From which century is this video? I appreciate the comicality of it.

best video on youtibe showing stopping on rollerblades, thanks!
@usbsol Eddy uses wheels 83A according to an interview that is also available here in youtube.
inline skating + knowledge of physics = safety win

thats a beautiful sight, yes man sure is a beautiful sight

hawaii??
Excellent video thanks
This is great. Are these clips from a DVD I can purchase?
This guy is a crazy genius
good video captures of your wheels ;)
wow... i feel like i just tripped balls, and was assaulted with info, but now i feel infinitely better about stopping on inline skates. amazing
what kind of skates are those? 'cause I use inline hockey skates, but these that you use have huge wheels.

u have silicone wheels?
my wheels are really sticky, which kind of wheels are u using there? i own a pair of k2's
thanks
I'm finding this a little difficult to follow, but it seems similar techniques to skiing
Cool Thanks!!!

backwards powerslide.
I will try it when the sun comes once more in sweden, i am still inexperienced.
it wont.. coz he keeps the wheels spinning...
the question is how to make this in a dry rough asphalt with a grip 82A wheels
Damn, if I had watched this before, maybe, just maybe, I haven't fell in high speed =P
at the very beginning that's how I stop!! =DDD!!!
Five wheels!?
Классные ролы
nice!
speed skates: they have bigger, thinner wheels and a smaller, lighter boot. ussually they have 5 wheels
try going down hill...then turn to backskate...really scary...
let's hope I don't break my only neck
wow he is cool
you're actually "skiing" down the hill :)
lmao.
i thuoght this was a scetch till i read the comments.
mate, 4 wheels is aggressive lol, 2 wheels is more aggressive though
Won't this... I don't know... Completely OBLITERATE your wheels?
funny first part
Enjoy your need for new wheels every other day.
ish-shonz.
how about just attach a brake to the back of your frame
1:52 wtf?
мда... ему хорошо говорить.
I thught it was a joke in the begining. I mean this video was just werd????
@nuttnynutjob lol!!
this has to be a piss take theres no way hes serious. is he?
god skating just looks gay. i've never seen a skater, even a pro, look good skatin. still fun to do but its just gay looking XD
