It should be noted that any version of the bible you read is always a version written and stated by the authors of it, like the KJV, anyone studying ancient Greek and Hebrew will see the errors and contradictions only because so many have been already indoctrinated by what they read, convincing them of the errors is extremely difficult, one drop of anything in a glass of water changes it's properties, it's no longer pure water, the same applies to a sentence that's been added to or took away words within it, example= "All scripture is inspired by God" the most deceiving lie ever written and it's not what the original author wrote, he said " All scripture inspired by God is profitable for teaching" because the translators added that word " is " in the sentence it causes everyone to think everything that was written was inspired by God for teaching so no one will doubt or question what is written, Paul never would have said ALL scripture in the first place but would have rather separated from it what he believed God did inspire, if all scripture was for teaching and inspired by God then Paul never would have wrote eating certain foods were okay or being circumcised or many other things not believed by Jesus followers, not to mention when he wrote this letter there was no new testament and could have only been referring to the old testament, Jesus made it clear that the scriptures were not to be trusted for salvation when He said " Search the scriptures, for in them you think you have life " trusting the scriptures for salvation will only cause you confusion, that doesn't mean none of it can be trusted, just not all of it, the truth lies in the spirit, if you read something and the spirit within tells you something isn't right, your actually right unless the spirit reveals to you how your wrong, that usually won't happen though until it bites you, if you continue to do whatever it was that bit you after you been warned, it's time to seek help
The Catholic Church are the one's that departed from the true faith which Paul spoke about and translated the writings to fit their beliefs, in time they became very powerful, so much so their own version of the ancient Greek writings became the blueprint for anyone else translating the writings, they are the one's that put to death any believer that didn't think like them, called them heretics, they are also the one's that took control over what was printed, every denomination reads the same version of the new testament only with a few so called gospels omitted, the Catholic church actually set the course over every translation where even today scholars fear deviating from it, just one example that has significant impact on what people believe is a scripture where Jesus said " Whosoever looks at a woman with lust is committing adultery in their heart" the ancient Greek word they translated as woman does not apply to every woman in general, it's a specific word that applies to a wife, it's entirely impossible for a single woman to commit adultery, a single woman can only commit whoredom like what a prostitute does, in fact all of the ancient words used for a woman that has many different variations, no one has been able to translate them correctly, the same for the word man in ancient Greek, that alone has most people believing lies that generalize all men in what was written, it's a real mess

Any given number of 66 or 70 books of the Bible, over many centuries of time, have been altered by the opponents of God, or unintentional poor translations. What percentage of that is anybody guess. I've heard a scholar say around 1% the meaning got changed. Different wording doesn't necessarily change the meaning of the text involved.

To suggest scriptures, doctrines and traditions were in some kind of universal alignment until the reformation in the 16th century blew it all apart is to ignore history.
