Hahahahahahaha same. I used to talk negatively about it til I moved away and then when I came back I loved it. A lot of it is trash but Southsea and old Portsmouth is 💙
Love Pompey. I live in Brighton but my daughter lives in Portsmouth so love to go when I can. Never get bored there and even did a season as a Tour Guide around Old Portsmouth.
I love Portsmouth and South sea. Was there this summer and South Parade Pier, clearances pier, spinnaker tower the gun wharfquays, all amazing, the hotels are gorgeous but quite expensive. I had fun.
Many years ago circa 1963 I visited a seaside resort in The Netherlands near The Hague called Scheveningen. It reminded me very much of an English seaside resort and I've still got some photos I took from a high vantage point on the pier.
Good one guys, I come from Australia living in Old Portsmouth at the moment and I’m always telling people about Old Pompey especially the Square Tower where the first fleet left for Australia with 700 convicts on board - Hence the 2 links outside the Sq tower..I will send this video to them as it is a great overview ant the aerial shots brilliant…thanks..😀😀
I went to Portsmouth uni and love returning there. It's a beautiful city with great memories. Also, I saw your pram in Essex yesterday, it had a brown base and a cream top. Reminded me of a lotus biscoff biscuit, in a good way! Lots of people were looking at it 👀
I have an obsession with Portsmouth, never been there, but every time I look online I have a strong feeling I will like it. Thinking of moving there. Gunwharf looks a bit like Salford quays in manchester where I live.
Our favourite vloggers showcasing and spending the festive season in beautiful ole Blighty….life can’t get much better. The launch is gonna be mega too. Much love to you three. 🙏💙
We had Brunch at the Southsea Cafe today, great pit stop after doing a long walk along the seafront with our dog Minnie. Enjoyed the video. 😎 Spent @10 years working in the Hague, happy days..
Actually getting all emosh! My place of birth. Little fact, my uncle was the one who designed and made the original ferry from Portsmouth to Hayling. Is it the same one still!? Family still on Hayling. Used to love sitting on the beach watching the wind surfing team train. Gotta get back down there soon. Mozzarella Joes is a must !
I have to say that I watched the most beutiful sunrise from my hotel bed in Portsmouth AND it only has the best shop in the UK which is why I am coming to visit again as it was shut. Tofu Cute. I had a meltdown as it was closed but how happy to discover that. Ok at that time the London shop was not open but still, I agree it's a bit of a hidden gem. Thank you for le video and the Isle of Weight and the info. I never give compliments what is wrong with me today haha
Thank you so much for that tour of Portsmouth. It is a city that I never had an opportunity to visit when I was there while in the US Air Force as I was in Northhamptonshire and East Anglia and foolishly, my wife and I have never gotten to that part of the country when we have visited over the past 60+ years.
I absolutely love your vlogs particularly your distinctive accent. There is Portsmouth in New Hampshire, USA It is a port city on the Piscataqua River.
Thanks!!!! Steve.
Greetings from Texas. Brooke looks fantastic, like she’s gained a lot of weight and her little face is gorgeous! Merry Christmas to you all, Mele Kalikimaka and Felis Navidad.
Like the swamps of Southampton?? With bin bags sprawled throughout the streets. The high street and surrounding areas are nice but the rest of the city resembles Beirut
Interesting video. You have shown the lovely places - all by the sea, so if you live near there, and go out there, it's great. I too went to uni in Portsmouth and moved back here recently (actually 8 years ago - for luv!). Apart from what you have shown, my opinion of Portsmouth is a bit different, because if you go a bit inland from where you are, I find it dirty, depressing and sometimes, quite threatening. Anywhere by the sea is lovely, in my book and, yes, Portsmouth has loads of interesting history. A big shout out for Huis Bar in Elm Grove and the Pheonix in Southsea, you've got to try them. But my favourite bit is the Brittany ferry that leaves Portsmouth for St Malo! Personally, I cannot wait to get out of the place. Sorry.
I'm Pompey born and bred and to be brutally honest the stretch you covered is the only decent place left, inland is a complete dump now..pretty sure I'm correct that the lipstick penthouse was owned by Jamie Redknapp...the less said about the Redknapps the better ! 🤣

city has gone to shit, i was born here in 69 and now its just crammed roads made worse by the shear amount of students blocks being built lately, can't wait to move away to the countryside next year

@@PompeyMatt17 We have lived in Pompey for 50 years. The City Council planners are out of control and need reining in. They make big plans which are either never realised (apart from Gunwharf) or are pie in the sky and inappropriate. They pander to the University and education departments, while ignoring the fact that the City is on a peninsular and already overcrowded, with serious infrastructure problems. Many of the streets have been turned into patchworks by City Fibre, for a broadband service that is too expensive for most folks. I'm convinced that those who influence the planning committee have shares in the contractors and turn a blind eye to the ugly and overbearing buildings they approve, making completely false and immaterial statements to substantiate their decisions. They don't live in the City or take any notice of the taxpayers who pay their wages. They can't attract useful retail to the City, so they are turning it over to students, who have no affinity and little respect for the City. So why do I we still live here? We're not going to let bias, self serving, City planners drive us out . We are lucky to have a parking space, local shops are convenient, Southsea and Old Portsmouth are still attractive and a short bus ride away and we can still get to some lovely countryside in 30 mins. Sorry about that, I feel better now.
Southsea is a nice area, pompey got potential, its a shame about the theft levels..especially cycle theft, the city is out of control and police cant keep up
I found weird someone doing a video of Southsea. You can see this city in 1 day. It's an OK city to visit but there's better and more beautiful city's as Brighton, Bournemouth and much others. I live here for 3 years and I absolutely hate this city. The pollution, the huge amount of people, the high cost of leaving for what u get and the most rude people I ever come across with in the uk. Work pay is lower then in other areas. There's a few things to do and see but in general is a boring city. I personally don't like it and most of my friends don't like it also for the same reasons. However is Nice to see a video showing the good side of it 🥰

Been living in Pompey for 20 years now, can't imagine ever moving away and living somewhere else
No sea defenses, no barriers at all, it's a beautiful place, no denying... What a place to grow up, you must create a real connection to the sea...
