@@tidybrickslandscaping they did do this on concrete also. But they would build walls with no foundation wider at the bottom in the belief this would spread the total sum of weight more allowing for no footing. We know know this was not the best idea but you'd be surprised at how many walls and houses are still standing using this method!
Very tasty work mate. They are a beautiful looking brick. People are mad for them over here in Ireland and they sell for big bucks. Brickie myself by trade. Love the channel 👍
great videos. thanks.i see you used black mortar for brickwall. what did you use to make black grouting. i tried black grouting today. with oxide black powder. all bricks was messed with black color. now i cant clean bricks. it was a failure for me😅
As you’re building the wall, how do you keep the back side of it clean? You can’t reach it to take all the excess cement out can you? Have you got to go into next door’s garden and go through their wooden fence?
Every couple of courses I just leaned over and smoothed off with my glove as they had a trellis tight up against the wall I couldn’t do much 👍🏴 Also they never paid anything towards the wall
Mate just doing a extention on to a 1920 hose no concrete foundations on that and not moved a inch ...today's building control is overrated and not wear near build quality of early days ...as allways though great job ..
My old house was build on dirt with a stepped foundation. Build in 1888 and it’s still standing. How deep did you go on the foundation? I take it your brother doesn’t dance 🕺😂
Very helpful videos mate
Going to attempt my own patio this year

Sika dye from Travis Perkins £20 bottle does about 6 mix’s 👍🏴
There's something strangely therapeutic about watching someone who knows what their doing laying bricks!
I totally agree with you somethings are strangely therapeutic to watch 👍🏴
Ha great vid ! Very Victorian way of doing it ! London was and still is still standing on the same foundations ! Well the terrace houses as anyway
It’s amazing what they used to do back in the day which is still standing today 👍🏴

@@tidybrickslandscaping fair enough! Should have left it raw and messy then 🤣
Loved job, did you manage to point the neighbours side?.
Just rubbed it down with my glove and brush off they didn’t want to chip in with any money 👍🏴
The old bricks have character and make a great wall
If I was to build a house for myself tomorrow it would be with those bricks 100% rustic and have character quite agree 👍🏴
Crazy how that lasted so long, but amazing looking brick
Hey first wall like that I’ve seen without foundations 👍🏴
There was no crack in the wall as you said so the foundation /hardcore/mot held up pretty well you gotta admit
For the amount of time the wall was there yes I was quite surprised 👍🏴
You seem a top guy you Scot type of neighbour I’d like
Cheers Garth much appreciated mate 👍🏴

Thanks Simon in a way I kind of agree with you building control is out of touch 👍🏴
What was the song you played whilst building the wall, sounded like Eminem.
Yes correct there was a bit of Eminem mixed into it from RUclips free music 👍🏴
Alot of victorian houses are just on soil too arent they scot😳😆
That gear looks very creamy! Did you use the magic sauce?😜
Magic sauce every time 🧚♀️👍🏴
The old bricks have character and makee a gret wall
Yep 👍🏴
Good
Thanks glad you liked it 👍🏴
You can’t say you’re joints aren’t full 👍👍👍👍

Back in the day they really built houses to last. As for the foundation that I poured 300 mil deep by around 250 wide 👍🏴
Do you ever work in Newport 🧐
Not so much these days I try to leave everything in Cardiff 👍🏴
Why would they not put a foundation in?
Absolutely no idea it’s amazing it stayed up for so long 👍🏴
Concrete posts where probably acting as a for of pillar foundation.
Good point Alan yes they probably helped 👍🏴
No foundations? What on EARTH were they playing at? lol
The foundations were one row of headers two courses that was it 👍🏴
Is that planet earth or planet soil…🤓🤓🤓🤓
At the moment it’s planet messed up 👍🏴
You can definitely lay a brick boyo 😄 🤣
Problem is it bores the shit out of me 😂👍🏴
The foundation on my house is just a few bricks and it's now 121 years old.
Proper tradesmen back in the day 👍🏴
I bet your glad that’s out the way mate so you can get back to slabbing 😂😂
I seriously running out of energy for all of it 👍🏴
No pillars ? Wasn't 9 inch ?
Same thoughts as me.....
7:20 pillars at the back 👍🏴
@@tidybrickslandscaping apologies 🙏
@@neilarmstrong6082 no worries 😉
Now that's Not to Shabby!!!
Tidy 👍🏴
Looks like your brother kept up with just about
It was quite fun bit of filming actually I’ll do some more with a selfie stick 👍🏴
Lots of houses that have been standing longer then you and I had no foundations. What’s your point ???
It’s amazing what they used to do years ago 👍🏴
He’s back I thought you had been kidnapped by Jonny boy from green top as you do a better job than he does 👌😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks Nick glad you enjoyed the video mate. Catching up with Johnny boys subscriptions also 👍🏴
Me thinks you've done that before.
