the amount of talent on the show at this time is absolutely ridiculous: One invented Weekend Update on Saturday Night Live One stole the show in this century's most successful comedy movie as Leslie Chow One invented the reaction genre on the Soup that has been adopted by really the entire internet now Two directed Captain America:The Winter Soldier + Civil War ...........oh yea and AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR + ENDGAME One is Donald Glover And one created this incredible show and currently co-creates a cartoon that is doing pretty well
@Zeb Shah I have seen most Marvel and DC movies despite not being into superheroes, and Infinity War and Endgame were both like DC movies to me, in that they were too rushed, there wasn't enough character development, some bits were a bit too easy etc. Usually Marvel tells a good story, so people like me with no background knowledge can understand them, but I was so lost with Infinity War and Endgame
Joel is kind of Jeff (but with a sense of humour) Otherwise everyone else is so far from their character really, although you can tell its from somewhere within them.
@Amber474 On the Season 1 DVDs, whenever Ken is on a commentary he's just laughing out loud and cracking up the entire time. Seems like he's genuinely just an upbeat, kooky guy. Love it!
Even with the loss of Chevy as Pierce, this show has enough good characters to go into a fifth and possibly sixth season *without* having to rely heavily on the study group. You could have a show based on Craig Pelton, Ben Chang & professor Duncan, or someone similar. These guys are comic geniuses. Even professor Whitman [season 1] was hilarious. With good enough plot threads, the likes of Leonard, Fat Neil, Vicki, Garrett, Todd & Magnitude could be the new focus. New writers can save this show.
@@cassun603 You're absolutely right. I stopped on the season that he left the show. And it was not because i was pissed for pierce's dead, but the show genuinely lose the quality. I don't think that i will finish all the seasons. I didn't watch any episodes for weeks now.
@ChrononautDoom I appreciate your 43 cents! Based on what you've said, I think you may have misunderstood me as saying that I don't understand McHale's character. That's not it at all. In fact, I think his character is very easy to grasp. I just think his character is the weak and annoying! In one pool, you have Abed, Shirley, Annie, and Troy. Great characters that are fun to put in any situation. All four have stayed true to what their characters were at the inception of the series.
hahahahaha :-D. This vid is great! Thanx for uploading! I love Community. I personally think they nailed each of the actors with the character, and I love how they all interact with each other so well on the show, and off. They're really a bunch of seriously talented actors. My only objection here though is... Where the hell is Abed!?
@ChrononautDoom You definitely can have strong characters who are resentful. Case in point? Senor Chang. His character was great as the crazy spanish teacher. I think you hit the nail on the head when you said that Winger's change into becoming a better person is how he recently has been and will be written into future episodes. I think counting on a character's evolution is a risky bet for the television platform... it's a bit too gimmicky and doesn't work too well in the sitcom genre.
@ChrononautDoom ...Troy's character strayed a bit from his jock backstory, but what's come out of the other end is still a great fun-loving character. Then you have what I believe to be the weaker characters... Winger, Pierce, and Britta. I think what they all have in common is a form of self-entitlement and resentment. Winger is too cool for school, Britta is fighting for the female race, and Pierce is the prototypical cantankerous old man.
It's a shame Chevy Chase wasn't this pleasant while filming. He's not a great person but he also really didn't get treated well either. It's a shame he left and in universe he can't return for a movie.
@ChrononautDoom But, I can see how Winger's character is a necessary evil. The "voice of reason" character is necessary to help contextualize the absurdity of the other characters. ...just reread what I've written and I'm feeling sorry for myself for having performed the analysis that i did on youtube. I'll stop now :-)
Were they mean to Chevy because he was an asshole or was he an asshole because of how mean they are? Probably the former but still, I was a bit surprised at how hard they come down on him.
@sjkdec18 I think your analysis is quite on the spot. I just don't necessarily agree on what characters you deemed "annoying". I honestly like every character in their own way, but the only one who I feel i could do with out is Britta. Shes just too objectionable for my taste. Pierce is annoying in the sense of he is a douche bag but the fact that he is that douche bag character arguably makes the show better. But all the other stuff I agree. I LOVE Community. :)
Interestingly, I think the cast is great, except for the lead. I wonder if Joel McHale's role was originally an ex-lawyer because it seems very forced and not believable. I think a better role could have been someone who is extremely smart and poor and therefore at CC, or something along those lines.

One is Donald Glover

And the Russo’s also did the casting. What can’t they get right , legends !
Both Infinity War and Endgame!

I love Dan’s reaction to Donald riffing with Dan about their original pilot and Donald’s character trying to “sell” *pause “Britta”
Donald is definitely pimpin’ when it comes to comedic timing
dan and donald is the original community OTP
he even says the show died for him when donald left
I love how they've turned Chevy chase into a Frank Reynolds like position..
I searched for Chevy Chase on Community saying something nice. Nice.
Chevy is Pierce. Goddamn
In other words, great for the audience to watch, but more than likely hell for the cast to work with lol. I love the guy.
Pierce is awsome tho
Joel is kind of Jeff (but with a sense of humour)
Otherwise everyone else is so far from their character really, although you can tell its from somewhere within them.
jorgepeterbarton Joel is like Jeff without the charisma I’ve seen him interact with people and he ain’t as good. Great guy tho!! Super funny.
He had that wad of cash ready in case of an Insecurity Emergency
Ken Jeong is totally high.
He's high on life.
You can have a lot of fun with your own prescription pad
@Amber474 On the Season 1 DVDs, whenever Ken is on a commentary he's just laughing out loud and cracking up the entire time. Seems like he's genuinely just an upbeat, kooky guy. Love it!
I was streets behind on this show, I just finished watching it for the first time on Netflix, wtf was I doing with my life

Sorry Past You, the loss of Glover destroyed this show. Not to say there weren't good episodes after he left, but it wasn't the same show without him.
Wow, good call 👌🏼

i wanna hear about the casting of every character!
Chevy needs more scene's with Ken!
go buy the season 1 dvd. The commentary talks about each one.
LOL "Nick Cannon" said no EPIC
I wish there wasn't any Chevy drama because he was perfect for the role.
Chevy in this reminds me of when Pierce plays ‘Drugs’ in the play.
this is the second one of these videos where ken has to whisper the joke to chevy, how deaf is he?

Was Ken drunk during this or is he just all around that happy enthusiastic? The guy’s hilarious
Yes
He turned his laughter up to 11 whenever they made fun of Chevy so that he could decrease the tension.

I love how Ken is just CRACKING up the whole time, especially when they mention the meeting with Chevy Chase :P Aw, they always pick on Chevy...
you can clearly see the writer in harmon and glover going at it)
Yo yo yo! XD
It's a shame Chevy Chase wasn't this pleasant while filming. He's not a great person but he also really didn't get treated well either. It's a shame he left and in universe he can't return for a movie.
Holy fuck, better than stand-up comedy.
Troy Barnes as white? no, that would never have worked!
@ChrononautDoom But, I can see how Winger's character is a necessary evil. times they are a chang-ing
These Russo guys seem like they know their stuff. They might just make something of themselves.
Dan mentions a second pilot. Anyone knows anything about that?
is there a different pilot somewhere out there?
"It isn't like I would ever hit her
/But I would sell her to the highest bidder"
@sjkdec18 If you know any lawyers, his backstory makes perfect sense.
Were they mean to Chevy because he was an asshole or was he an asshole because of how mean they are? Probably the former but still, I was a bit surprised at how hard they come down on him.

@WubwubDubstep You spelled "it's" wrong. Just because you write emails doesn't make you a writer. =)
shoes glasses = white
love you donald
I MISS PIERCE!!!
dan at 6:24 lmao

@sjkdec18 neither does leaving comments on RUclips!! lol
Well since you're quite the genius, I assume you know that he didn't spell the word wrong, but rather he used the incorrect form.
dude, who CARES? since when did, "but thry're funny!!1" become any kind of adequate dismissal of someone's shitty attitude?
the guy in the hat is so boring to listen to. cant believe he's relevant to the show
i cant splel Lol now he's relevant to the Marvel Cinematic Universe being co-director of Civil War and Infinity War
