lets forget about all that, lets have a cup of tea instead, seriously great scene, the sound distorsion, and starburst effects, really feels like getting a good kicking
I love that movie!!! Thats probably one of the best scenes from the film, and the music is amazingly well fitted. I nearly cryed at the end of the film lmao :-(
I always loved this scene, and I love that we have no idea why Morty is doing it in that moment. The audience is in Daniel Craig's shoes, just sitting there with our pal, no clue who this Freddie guy is, and then THIS happens. It's such a brutal beatdown that very much like Craig, we have to wonder if it was really necessary... then you find out why right after, and it makes total sense. I'm shocked Morty didn't just kill him, but this was well-deserved. I always wondered, if Freddie hadn't pushed for just a little more money, would Morty have lost his cool. He fed the man, gave him cash, but it wasn't enough. Slugs like Freddie just take and take, no consideration for others or what they've been through. A phenomenal scene in one of the best British crime dramas ever made.
IMHO the best film of its type. The casting is superb even DC who I despise works well in this film. The mix of characters and the way they interact, together with outstanding direction, brilliant cinematography and beautiffully ballanced lighting makes this a classic and is currently standing at number 3 in my collection of over 2000 DVDs. I am so glad this movie is a one-off as any kind of sequel would bugger it up.
"Lets forget about all of that...Lets have a cuppa tea" "Im sorry bout that, I won't be round for a while" Couple of lines like you just stood on someone's foot! ha ha
This is hands down my favorite scene from any movie, of all time. So amazing, such a fantastic mixture of sound and style. The POV shots of Freddy getting his ass kicked intercut with the Duke getting his comeuppances, all great. And the last two shots are simply perfect, especially the last one serving as a punctuation to it all. Morty and XXXX have to go their separate ways.
He doesn't die, and he deserved the punishment, Monty spent ten years of his life in jail because of him, plus the scene is shot in an unfamiliar way, the camera is set from a diferent point of view, also Duran Duran rocks ;)
This is a great movie, this scene is crazy it really sets the tone of the movie, when i first saw this movie i was like fuck he is kicking this guys ass, there needs to be a Layer Cake 2, cuz were not sure if he really dies at the end...
sadly the first time i watched this movie i couldn't sit it through, but i'd already paid for it on dvd...so it sat in the closet until the second bond movie with Daniel Craig, so i gave it another shot, and i was ashamed about how dumb i felt for not giving it another ten minutes; it developed into a brilliant movie.
I walked past that cafe a few weeks back and was trying to figure out where I'd seen it! Next time I'm in Pimlico, I think I'll pop in for a nice cup of tea. :)
I have got to see this movie. So funny at the end: "Sorry about that, I'm not going to be around for awhile." zoom! Daniel Craig with a big 'wth???' on his face. :)
the first time i saw this scene it was so shocking and brutal since morty has been so controlled up to that point and first time i didn't realise that morty was saying stuff that related to why he is beating up freddy.
@simon5863 they talk about it later in the film, he says something like, "If he dies you'll either be in the defending block with Morty or in the witness block putting him back away"
omg i love this film iv seen it about 100 times its a perfect film
daniel craig and duran duran its perfect
Absolutely brilliant cinematography and song.
''What the fuck..''
''I'm sorry about that.. I won't be around for a while''
*takes off running*
Lol, that had me in tears. Great movie!
What a tune. The muffled effects as Mr Mortimeeeeeeerrrrr is smashing him is a great touch.
lets forget about all that, lets have a cup of tea instead, seriously great scene, the sound distorsion, and starburst effects, really feels like getting a good kicking
The circling shot around morty and xxxx when they leave the cafe is the best camera shot ive ever seen! style at its best

best song, and the best scene in the whole movie!!!!! i lved it!!
Agreed, brilliant scene. Cheers for posting it.
This is what happens, when you're a loud-mouth, wannabe gangster, don't mess with the real organised crime people, they'll fuck you up like this.
that headbutt was crucial.
"enough?! or you need a red light?!" {BAM}
morty is the man.
"What the f***?"
"Sorry 'bout that, I won't be around for a while."
Lol. I love this movie!!!!!!!!

A directing masterpiece - you're there!
This is my favourite scene in the movie - thanks for uploading it! The music fits so well with the scene.
Yeah, and I love the look on Daniel Craig's face when after Morty walks away, and he realizes that he's on his own.
I want my untainted memory of this song back, right now.
Although, I gotta admit that was awesome. Heh.

I love this part.
i freaking Love this movie! :D
Favorite part in this movie.
one of the coolest beat down scenes ever and i seen about every gangster movie there is. Thats how u handle snitch trash
I love how the editors mess with the distortion and quality of the sound of the song everytime Freddy gets hit.
Best scene in the film.
"I'm sorry about that, I won't be around for a while." -love that line lol
pity i can only give this video 5 stars,id prefer to give it ten,
ten is a nice round number....
This definately is my favorite scene in any movie...Ordinary World only makes it better.
"Lets forget about all of that...Lets have a cuppa tea"
"Im sorry bout that, I won't be round for a while"
Couple of lines like you just stood on someone's foot! ha ha

lollll that scene was so good lol i didnt expect it at all in the movies hahahaha and i was with the very few to laugh hard at it too lolll
That cut at 1:24 is brilliant
This was probably the best sleep he's had in 10 years.
I never took Duran Duran seriously until i saw this scene, the song fits perfectly.
He doesn't die, and he deserved the punishment, Monty spent ten years of his life in jail because of him, plus the scene is shot in an unfamiliar way, the camera is set from a diferent point of view, also Duran Duran rocks ;)
Holy shit! that was awesome, great editing and camera work, i have to see this movie.
Freddie got some lumps with that tea
This is a great movie, this scene is crazy it really sets the tone of the movie, when i first saw this movie i was like fuck he is kicking this guys ass, there needs to be a Layer Cake 2, cuz were not sure if he really dies at the end...

This movie took all the right moves from Guy Ritchie's London Gangster flicks while also doing away with a lot of the flaws of Ritchies style.
I have got to see this movie.
So funny at the end:
"Sorry about that, I'm not going to be around for awhile."

"I'm sorry about that. I won't be around for a while *zoom*"
One of my English gangsta films right there with Snatch
I once ate a fry up in this cafe. It's just round the corner from Channel 4.
The woman serving breakfasts in real life would have reined Morty in.
Awesome movie, still my favorite Daniel Craig role. I want the sequel to get written so he can play XXXX again.
Best bit!
favorite scene, pretty sure anyway
got to have breakfast there put i think i will have coffee with it
10's a nice round number!
let's have a cup of tea.
the first time i saw this scene it was so shocking and brutal since morty has been so controlled up to that point and first time i didn't realise that morty was saying stuff that related to why he is beating up freddy.

@simon5863 they talk about it later in the film, he says something like, "If he dies you'll either be in the defending block with Morty or in the witness block putting him back away"
