Amr Aisam Yeah I know but it's a means of communication for Arabic speakers who are using the English alphabet. due to us having different letters that aren't in the english alphabet we use symbols to express them like 7 for ح and 3 for ع because they sort of look similar.

Hello Buzzfeed, would have appreciated if there was description given for all the dishes more than "a national dish/popular dish" As a person from another country, I didnt quite understand that the Egyptian dishes were made of what ingredients. 😊

If you study linguistics you'll see that these sort of things don't get translated perfectly cross-culturally. You'll often find that cultures will take a word and apply their own semantic meaning to it. For example, the English word "Setup". In Egypt they use this word primarily to talk about setting up internet in their house. You can hear the phrase "sutubt al-net" (I setup the internet). I think this makes the world a unique and wonderful place :-) hope this helps.

Jolandatommy i was in Egypt 5 times since being a child (im swiss, so its only a 4 hour flight). We have been in different areas and lets say, they never did anything to us. The worst thing was the trash at the riverside, but every country ive been to so far has had a worse trash system than Switzerland, so really its not big of a deal. Also they always give you free drinks if you buy stufd which is awesome^^

My aunt married an Egyptian and she cooks all of these !! My mother also learned to cooks some of these from my aunt. We're a pretty mixed family going from Egypt , Colombia , Palestine , Dominican Republic , Venezuela .. and a couple more. Love the diversity in my family 💗

And try breakfast main dish which is foul which is fava beans which dressing oil and spices
And mesakaa which is eggplant which minced meat and peppers and tomato sauce very like mousaka of greece
And fatta which is fried bread with garlic and vinegar dressing and eaten with rice and some people add salsa over this mixture
And bamia which is cooked okra with salsa and spicy peppers and dressed with lemon juice
