That's great, glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah there are a ton of different brands of this manifold but they're pretty much the exact same thing, haha. Good luck on your swap and thanks for watching! 🙂

Completely agree with you Daniel! Personally, I always try to look around and replace parts that are convenient while your already knee deep in a project, one less time you have to do it again. Thanks for watching! 😎
Excellent video. I noticed that it looks like your oil cooler is leaking. You can fix it by just replacing the internal o-ring and external gasket. The cooler is located on the passenger side rear of the engine right in front of the cv axle. Very common problem on these cars. I did mine on my 2012 just over the weekend, pretty easy.
Thank you for watching and pointing that out! I'll definitely look into it, could be a great future how-to video to show others how to repair it on their own. Sometimes, a little part like an o-ring can cost alot of money to install at a shop. Glad your repair went well. Thanks again! 👍
@@TrickShiftGarage Very welcome! And yes that would make an excellent how to video. The part number for the gasket set for the oil cooler is ES73076 it is a Felpro set and I bought mine at oreillys for about $15 but the part # should be the same at any auto parts store that sells Felpros.

My 2012 2.5L Altima developed a really bad smell inside the cabin,I swapped out the filter and still stinks.. ever since the smell arrived my car has run terrible..I have had no check engine lights so I self diagnosed by past experience(s)...my car started feeling like it was stuck in a lower gear, around 60 mph and up it would start feeling like it was being dragged down, like the brakes were dragging, slowing it down...the gas mileage went from awesome to terrible ! I was stupid and had a brand new CVT transmission put in it and it still does the same thing, but now its dragging at all speeds...I did find a seized front brake caliper and thought I finally had it figured out...but no its still the same...starting to think its the 2nd catalytic converter on the back half section of the exhaust manifold due to the horrific smell inside, thinking maybe its getting a lot hotter down there than normal and is /has done some cooking ! Anyway I finally took it to a highly rated repair shop and as of right now the guy can't figure out whats wrong with it..so when he gets back in town next week going to get my car and do like you have done here and see if that helps...its the craziest thing trying to troubleshoot these newer cars with the OBD2 diagnostic system thats relying on sensors and trouble codes to pop the check engine light on so the scanners can give you/we an idea whats going on. All I know is it has been a great car until this weird smell started...this video you have done here is exactly what I was hoping to see..not to bad of a job to do..just do it !
Thank you for your comment, and your situation sounds very similar to what mine was! A horrible smell coming into the cabin whenever the car was stopped. I did some research and there was a technical service bulletin out for the exhaust manifold and it was common for micro cracks to occur around the welds. I can't recall the years it effected but that might be something to consider. There was no engine codes but the car sounded like a small exhaust leak was coming from the front. It was especially loud on cold start ups, and after a couple minutes it would quiet down because I suspect the heat expanded the metal and (kinda) closed the crack. As you saw in the video, my whole exhaust was rusted and I figured to replace the whole exhaust anyway. So after I pulled the manifold off I inspected and sure enough there was a micro crack along one of welds. After I installed the new one the smell was gone for good. So my suggestion is to have your mechanic check out the exhaust manifold carefully. Hopefully this helps you out, let me know how it goes! And thanks for watching!
I noticed that you didn't put the heat shield back on. I'm having trouble fitting the old heat shield on the new exhaust manifold. Is it not necessary to have the heat shield?
It's not necessary to have the heat shield on. Mine has been off for about 3 years now lol, I think you'll be fine to leave it off. Thanks for watching! 👍
Thank you so much bro i have a 2012 Altima and my light came on at 145k miles I was wondering when or how long I could drive before I have to change it. You said 10 years lol I don’t think I would go that long, but I guess it’s not a big issue.
You're welcome! Luckily, my check engine light never came on but the smell got pretty bad to make me change it out... finally 😂 Since your light came on, I'd change it out as soon as you can! If you have anymore questions just let us know and thanks for watching!
Honestly, I'm not sure but when I would take it to get tested they would hook up to the OBD2 port, run their program for a few minutes, get a report and pass or fail based on that report. If my check engine light was coming on they would have failed me on the spot but I think because mine never turned on, they passed the car.
Been searching over the internet and I can't find anything about the bolt size, length or thread. I'd try calling your local Nissan dealer and see if they can tell you any of those details. I'll keep searching and respond back here if I find anything 👍

I hear ya man! If it helps, mine has been running well for over a year now. No check engine light or driveability issues with it. Those prices is what pushed me to give the Amazon ones a try and so far so good! 😊
Once installed new catalytic converter from engine side... I noticed some white smoke from engine area... Is that normal for new install? I just tested like 5 seconds then off the car
Yeah, it's normal, probably some fluid burning off like WD-40 or oil/grease. It should stop smoking after 15 minutes. Let the engine warm up to operating temperature, if it's still smoking at that point, then something is off and you'll need to shut it down and investigate lol.
The cat has been holding good since replacement, no check engine light or exhaust odors. Yes, I think the AutoSaver88 one is a good one. Thanks for watching! 👍
Hey there, just wanted to see how the exhaust system has held up over time. A couple of the reviews on the Amazon link say that the cat almost blew up and stopped working completely. Should I order the parts on the Amazon link or should I just take my car into a shop? Thanks
Hi Joshua! The exhaust system has held up great! Just some surface rust, which is normal. No exhaust leaks or weird smells coming from anywhere. It's not loud, nice and quiet like the stock mufflers. You can go either way. The exhaust manifold has worked great without any problems. Just know that it will probably cost alot more if you go through a shop than buying and installing yourself. If you feel comfortable doing it that is. When I was shopping for a new exhaust system a couple years ago, the genuine Nissan manifold cost $600 alone. The whole system that I ended up ordering (from exhaust manifold all the way to the mufflers) cost $700 total. Just something to think about 🙂
I had to purchase the system in pieces, there are 3 links in the description on where you can buy them. They include all the necessary hardware (bolts, gaskets, etc.) you would need to do the whole system. Hope this helps and thanks for watching! 👍
I wish you went back and listed the socket sizes needed. It's the most frustrating part of repair work so far for me, not having or not being able to find the right size socket. Plus my impact wrench and my hand tools are different sizes... It was very frustrating trying to build my tool list for this project and you're waffling.
Hey Francine! Going back and watching it, I did waffle alot lol. This video was my first full edited video and it definitely needs to be revised with all the socket sizes and tools used. Thank you for your input! 🙂
Very informative video. Can I put the heat shield after I installed the bank 1 sensor 01? At last you didn’t installed the exhaust manifold heat shield but the sensor (before catalytic converter) was installed when you started the vehicle . I don’t have the heat shield on my Nissan Altima , I was wondering I can buy and install it with out removing the sensor . Thanks
Yes, you should be able to put the heat shield on after installing the O2 sensor. The heat shield goes around that part of the exhaust manifold. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the great video... going to have to tackle this soon as my cat broke and clogged up the pipe leading to no power. Did you install all of the heat shields or leave them out? Any issue either way?
Thank you for watching! I left the heat shields off. My lower heat shield's surface was rusted out and I left the top one off just for fun. Either way, I haven't had any issues by not including them on the new one. I would just make sure there are no wires or anything plastic near the exhaust piping that could possibly make contact and melt. Good luck on your install! And if you have any questions feel free to reach out! 👍
3 thumbs up!!! I replaced a leaking exhaust pipe with a Magnaflow downpipe w/cat. Have you installed a header on a 2008-2012 Nissan Altima coupe2.5L, and what was the result? Please share advice. Thx
Hey Ferman! Thanks! I haven't installed a header on an Altima 2.5L before, but I think the overall process is the same that you see in this video. We do have an updated exhaust manifold video, that goes more in depth of the install here: m.ruclips.net/video/xew4Rie4iFM/видео.html Hope this helps and thanks for watching! 😎
I knew the manifold was bad because on cold starts, the exhaust was loud and you could smell exhaust fumes in the car. A crack in the exhaust manifold would cause those kinda problems. Thanks for watching! 👍
Hi, i will remove my one tomorrow, can i only clean inside it with brake cleaner and industrial soap? Or i need to replace a new one in anyway?? Thank you
The exhaust manifold was $120, the catalytic converter pipe was $100, and the down pipe/Y-pipe with mufflers (came as kit) was about $300. Thanks for watching!
@@TrickShiftGarage the bottom of the exhaust manifold, because I’m having trouble with the studs not going in all the way like it showed in this video, would you be able to tell me the size for the studs you bought like if they are 1.25 x 50m or a smaller size. Thanks.
The bottom studs were definitely M10 - 1.25 pitch. I can't remember the exact length but 50 mm should get the job done. We have a more in depth video on the exhaust manifold installation here: m.ruclips.net/video/xew4Rie4iFM/видео.html Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any more questions.

Does the secondary cat have an 02 sensor? I was planning on deleting it and str8 piping in its place.
Hey Boss! Yup, I believe it's right after the secondary cat. Good luck on your project. More power and sound is always a good thing! 😉
@@TrickShiftGarage Thank you, I appreciate it. I seen some catless headers for the 2.5. Was planning on going with those instead.
We do have an updated exhaust manifold video, that goes more in depth of the install here:

Hope this helps and thanks for watching! 😎
Ive got an 08 coupe sl and the exhaust is exactly the same from top to bottom on the 2.5.
Also should add that the removal/install process is the same
Sweet! That's awesome to know, glad Nissan made it the same parts and process. Thanks for letting us know Bounty! 😎👍
How did you know if you had a bad manifolds?
I knew the manifold was bad because on cold starts, the exhaust was loud and you could smell exhaust fumes in the car. A crack in the exhaust manifold would cause those kinda problems.
Thanks for watching! 👍
How long did the whole process take
Overall, it took us one full weekend, one day for removing the old exhaust and another for installing the new one.
Thank you for watching!
Hi, i will remove my one tomorrow, can i only clean inside it with brake cleaner and industrial soap? Or i need to replace a new one in anyway?? Thank you
Hi! I would replace it with a new one just to be sure it's fixed. Good luck with your exhaust and thanks for watching!
What about 2019 2.5L.?
Hi Nestor! The 2019 2.5L is different than our 2007 2.5L, so this video won't be very accurate for yours. Thanks for watching! 🙂
Catalytic converter have a 10 year warranty fyi. Too late now tho
How much did the parts cost ?
The exhaust manifold was $120, the catalytic converter pipe was $100, and the down pipe/Y-pipe with mufflers (came as kit) was about $300.
Thanks for watching!
@@TrickShiftGarage where did you order it from?
Hey are those studs m8 1.25 or m10 1.25
The studs on the engine head or the bottom of the exhaust manifold?
@@TrickShiftGarage the bottom of the exhaust manifold, because I’m having trouble with the studs not going in all the way like it showed in this video, would you be able to tell me the size for the studs you bought like if they are 1.25 x 50m or a smaller size. Thanks.
The bottom studs were definitely M10 - 1.25 pitch. I can't remember the exact length but 50 mm should get the job done. We have a more in depth video on the exhaust manifold installation here:
m.ruclips.net/video/xew4Rie4iFM/видео.html
Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any more questions.
@@TrickShiftGarage thank you sir!
You're welcome 🙂
