i just did all this thinking there was an issue with my ac vent doors 😂😂 it ended up being low on ac got some ac hoses replaced by some guys in mex for a little less than $200. im replacing those small little tweeters, i didnt knew i had lol. im keeping my broken and abused dash though. not worth to replace on this car. mine is a 2007 with 126,000miles.
I'm glad somebody else said exactly what I was thinking. This was a wonderful video and very helpful in preparing me for what I would have gotten myself into had I decided to take this on myself. Definitely convinced me to just get the cover and be done with it.
It completely changed the interior! Thank you for this. My 08 is in perfect condition, except for the dash. Is sooo bad and now that my son realized he can draw on the dash with his nails it’s gotten even worse. Lol 🙄
Hey man, I love how simple and direct to the point you explain everything with details so easy to understand, wow great job now I feel much better doing it myself...Thanks man!
What an excellent video, I really appreciate your time to document this clear and concise repair procedure for a common problem on these cars, thank you !! This is a KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT. Nissan knew of this problem for years and under a prior class action law suit in FL agreed to replace all of those dashes for free with factory new ones. However, they screwed the rest of us living in other states (there is no sun elsewhere right?) and denied any responsibility for this issue which should have been a Nationwide recall instead leaving us to fend for ourselves. The shiny dash top produces dangerous glare to the driver and was found to be a safety issue. I was quoted $2600 by the dealer to replace for my 2008 Coupe. The new part can be had for about $1000 with discount which is still pricey considering it's their fault. I am told 2007-2010 dashes are all the same and would fit. Unfortunately, no good used ones to be had currently. I am looking into a molded hard topper which I see they make. Was wondering if anyone has tried one of those and what you thought?
Another caveat was you had to file claim until certain date, so if yours melted year later, you are screwed (Im in FL but still got screwed). I used 2012 dash on 2007 car. Had no issues.
@@DIYtime Interestingly, we also have a 2012 sedan and that dash while slightly tacky, does not exhibit any shinyness or cracking so far. I wonder if they quietly fixed the problem on later models.
I've installed today a new dashboard in My 2011 Nissan Altima with this video😊😊😊. Thank you for all the informstion, it was very very very helpful. I struggled a lot with the airbag, i couldn't take off the clips i had to do in another way. But my new dashboard is installed after 8 hours of hard work and i lot of strategy for different parts. And i did it by myself
Wow! This was super helpful. I have the opportunity to purchase a car and will need to do some upgrading on the vehicle. The dashboard 8s badly cracked so I will be replacing it. This video is super helpful in doing that.
Thank you! I have a 2010 and it’s in horrific condition! Cracked, sticky, broken off pieces everywhere it catches all lint, hair and dander so it looks disgusting. No amount of cleaning will help, I’m scared to try this myself!
This video is underrated. You did such a great job. Now I could change mines using your awesome instructions. I also have an 07, You think 2011 or 2012 could fit?
Great!!! I learned a lot about my '09 coupe dash board, and what's under it. I need to change my cabin filter. lol I will check for the recall for the squishing/sticky material on the top of the dashboard. I can't comprehend why they used that material? I'm subscribed. Thanks! FT
What year was this Nissan Altima which trim was it? Watching you do this looked so simple how do you keep the screws in order to remember where they go? It looked fantastic! I have a 2012 Nissan Altima S and the whole dashboard is cracked and sticky I was considering a overlay in plastic but after watching you it seemed so practical and possible Thank you ❤ now to find the charcoal dashboard at a junk yard. Mine was 2007. Screws were easy to remember cuz I videotaped where they all came out of 😅 Thanks for your kind words, glad it was helpful video for you!
Wow what a great video ! luckily my 2012's dash is perfect..what a great job you did here ! I think I need to remove my ventilation ductwork..my car has had a terrible odor that just happened one day about 2 months ago..I have of course changed and then went ahead and removed the new cabin air filter..took off the cowling under the hood etc..could see the blower motor..there was pine needles and pieces of the old foam sealer trim coming out of the vents and out of the cabin air filter box area and stinks ! Have you run into this problem that I have mentioned here ?? As I said earlier you did a great job here !
It could be rodents too. For some reason they really like air ducts. I think they hide there when it gets cold. I had their poop blowing out of the vents in the past in another car.
@@DIYtime Yep..I think rodents too..when I pulled out the cabin filter prior to this new one I installed it looked like it had been chewed up..it was all shredded up..no way it could come out looking like that u der most conditions..I have to figure out how to get the duct work out and ran it up...its heater weather time now and it stinks !
Thank you for the helpful video! Do you just leave the car battery unplugged the whole time, unless you need to get the screws on the steering wheel? Or could I remove the screws before staring so that the car battery is unplugged the whole time and prevent electrical damage?

It should be identical. My car was also 2007, and dashboard from junk yard was 2012. I had no issues. Worst case, they usually allow returns for a week or two.
holy crap can they design it more difficult than this? like adding planet alignment and 4 different mechanics' thumb as sacrifice. anyway superb video.
Hey man I love the video but how to be sure that the junk yard speaks that comes with dash board are working and if I do this project and run to a problem can I ask you for help am a bit new to this
Junk yards usually have 30-days store credit. Test speakers and return if necessary. I personally removed speakers when getting dashboard from junk yard.
If anyone can help me. At the two minute mark he is going to remove a small Phillips screw. My car is missing both of those screws. Does anyone know what size they are? The ones at the back/sides of the arm rest.
im i buggin but what does takin off the door seals the shift and back and seats have to do with replacing the panel besdies the disconnecting the connects it looks so unnecessary to take apart stuff that has nothing to do with the dash im not a expert so im questioning why ??M
Wow, it’s so complicated, I felt a little regret buying this generation Altima, I am thinking about trading it for the previous generation, since older cars are easier to work on, the right to repair cars is shrinking as time goes on and it’s heartbreaking.
I had a dream just moments ago where my mother (not a car enthusiast or have any knowledge on car components other than operation) told me to get my dash replaced. Apparently the car i was using was my dad's 2010 hyundai elantra when irl i use a silver 2010 kia forte sx. Anyway, i asked her "you know how to do that?" as i was obviously quite shocked. She only shrugged in response. She showed it to me and it was glossy plastic and light blue, literally 3x more saturated than the blue paintjob on the car itself. I walked outside my porch, went in the car and that was the end of the dream. I guess it was too weird to see the full story

Not sure, but I highly doubt it.
I looked up pictures though, they kinda look identical. 🤷🏻♂️

my 08 dash is perfect.... are you in a warm climate?
Yes. Florida 🏖 ☀️
What if you can't turn the car on at the junkyard to move the steering wheel
I had to remove the entire steering column assembly.
hey what tools did you use i need to get a dash panel for my 2009 maxima
I think replacement process will be similar for Maxima, since its the sane manufacturer. Links for tools are in the description.
I have a 2012 nissan altima does the new dashboard have to come from another 2012 nissan altima or can ot be from a different year as long as it fits?
It could be any one from 2007-2012, but I would try to find it as fresh as possible, year 2012 in our case.

Emergency stash - must have in your car. $20 will get you out of most situations, food, gas, etc, in case you forget your wallet.
