- A short clip of the famous edition of MTV's X-Ray Vision that was broadcast from Hamburg, Germany. Unfortunately due to many of the crowd expecting to see German band, Die Toten Hosen live on stage - it led to many people to hurl bottles of beer and abuse at Ray Cokes and his crew. This was the penultimmate edition of the show.

I can't believe MTV blamed Ray for what happened, it was not his fault!
God I can't imagine how terrifying this must have been. I read Ray's book and seeing this and knowing what else was actually going on just adds to the whole thing. Particularly the horrible reason they had to leave the show early. But with all this in mind; I think Ray and the team actually handled the situation really well! Ray: You're great!

Wow how embarrassing for Germans, what a humiliating display of public stupidity. Ray Cokes was excellent on MTV I loved his interview style.
The People in Hamburg were just rude, but the real Problem was the MTV Direction, which sucks! And never supported him.
Now watch MTV and what it became, a huge trash Channel!

I remember watching this and it's fascinating - none of this was Ray's fault and he stays pretty professional throughout (OK, he goads the audience a little, but overall is restrained given what's happening, concerned to avoid any swearing on air etc). However, having read his book, Ray does say that he was offered the opportunity to go back to doing Most Wanted and he turned it down... I think MTV were pretty fair there. I wish his ego and feelings of being ripped off by certain other presenters *cough Chris Evans cough* hadn't got the better of him and he'd gone back to Most Wanted. After all, that was where he was at his best. Oh, and Nina is amazing here! She does everything possible to calm things down.
Ray got shafted, he deserves a TV spot

I thought he actually handled that really well! He was a really great presenter. Just terrible conditions to have to work in, that crowd was terrible

Hamburg was a good choice actually, the problem was that one local reporter wrote that the band "Die Toten Hosen" would be there live on stage. Something that neither the Band the Clubowner or the Mtv Crew knew. But the Fans of the band read it and thought it was true, and well they were angry because it wasnt. Ray unfortunately was the scapegoat for mtv
With hindsight Ray probably should have just laughed it off , but no doubt things were going on behind the scenes too that prompted his reaction to such a loutish audience.
