    You made my day with the Book of Centuries tip! I have been homeschooling 13 years now and this is just what I needed to keep up with dates and people in history. Thank you!

    I’ve started “Hungry Planet: What the World Eats.” With my 9 Year Old child who is Hard of Hearing. He is usually fidgety each time I read to him ordinary books, or ask him to read. With Charlotte Mason style, when I showed him the pictures, he begins to focus and discuss his own ideas about the subject.

    THank you so much for your videos! I am from Ukraine, live in Poland now, and we have our homeschool for our 4 kids.
    It is so interesting to discover method of Charlotte Mason! But because of my level of English I do not understand many things. But I read her books, watch your videos, listen podcasts and I hope to provide this method in our family correctly . Thank you once again

    This was so helpful! I've been doing CM style homeschooling for a few years now, but haven't gotten to mapwork yet and wasn't sure how to do it, so this is great! I've also been meaning to jump into The Book of Centuries, so I'm glad to get info on that as well! Keep them coming!

    Just found your channel… absolutely amazing!
    I would just like to highlight that a small amount of the population have Aphantasia. Aphantasia is a recently named neurodivergency that essentially is mind-blindness. I have only just discovered I have it at 41 years old! I can know of and feel but not actually see an image in my mind’s eye.
    People with aphantasia it seems, assumed others were speaking metaphorically.
    My daughter however is hyper-phantasic! She can imagine and very clearly see anything she wishes with eyes open or closed. I’ve thought about how not being able to visualise affects how children, and adults, learn differently. To understand why they find remembering and narrating more difficult. Thought it would be an interesting point to share!
    Many thanks for this wonderful resource!

    Hi Sonya! This is such a great guide! Planning to do CM with my little boy but I am not sure when exactly to start with these five. He is just 2 years old at the moment. Would appreciate your guidance.

      Charlotte Mason advocated waiting to start formal lessons until the age of six. She gave some ideas for giving preschool children a "quiet growing time" instead. Our Pre K-K guide gives some ideas for that: simplycharlottemason.com/planning/preschool-guide/
      Also, stay tuned! Later in this series Sonya will offer some tips for starting CM from scratch.

    Would you recommend this start up method for middle and high school age?

    • @SimplyCharlotteMason
      @SimplyCharlotteMason  5 лет назад +2

      You can use this method to transition to CM from any method. When you're starting with older students, you may need to tweak the methods a little bit. This video talks about starting CM with an 11th grade student and what might need to be tweaked to make that work: ruclips.net/video/cdDwLNBLp_Q/видео.html

    Do I add to the display each week OR should it only be the picture we are talking about each week?

    • @SimplyCharlotteMason
      @SimplyCharlotteMason  Год назад

      It is quite alright to display the single picture each week. If you have the room and want to, you are welcome to keep the previous pictures out that were studied weeks prior around your home.

    Question: can I use the computer monitor or do I need to print the artwork?

    • @SimplyCharlotteMason
      @SimplyCharlotteMason  4 года назад

      You can do picture study on a computer screen, though we've found that many children do better with an art print they can hold.

    Hello Charlotte, I’m looking for a good science course for a 13 years old / 8th grader. I noticed your website has some. However it ends at 6th grade level.

    • @SimplyCharlotteMason
      @SimplyCharlotteMason  5 лет назад

      After 6th grade, we recommend starting a conversational textbook for science. We recommend science courses by Dr. Jay Wile, which are conversational, accurate, and hands-on. While living books might be more interesting, at this level of study it is difficult to find such books that present current, accurate information. We have also found that many living science books on the advanced science topics teach about the science rather than teaching the science itself. So we suggest one optional living science book per course as a supplemental read to the conversational textbook. Here's where you can find all of our recommendations: simplycharlottemason.com/planning/curriculum-guide/individual-graded-subjects/
