Thank you for showing the small size of the system. Most builds have a taller "garage" area to work with, but since my wife is in a wheelchair, the bed can't go up very far. Your layout is pretty efficient for such a small area. Nice system.

My wife and I love you guys! We are both 70 and just starting our first van build. We’ve watched almost every video on RUclips that relates to regular size vans and we both agree that your layout and build is by far the best we have seen. We also have a (2000 Ford) conversion van, but I am tearing out everything from the back of the cab to the rear 😬. I’ve been a woodworker since I was 15 and I am very impressed with the quality of your work with the limited tools you worked with. My biggest compliment to you is our plan to copy your basic design for our van. I tend to over plan and think things out extensively before beginning big projects (which can be good ….. or drive you nuts!). I’ve put off starting for a while, because I did not want to strip the van and have a tin oven while wrestling over a design plan. Now we’re ready! Thanks for the time you two took with these videos. We subscribed and are looking forward to following your adventures. Your design is great, but your personalities are just as impressive and make us want to watch more. Stay safe, and love the life you have been blessed with!!,

John, this is without a doubt the nicest comment we have ever received on our videos. Thank you two so much! We are thrilled and honored that our build design is good enough to be replicated. We're so excited for you and your wife to build out your van! If there's ever anything we can help you guys with, don't hesitate to reach out. We're no experts but building out an older conversion van gave us quite a bit of niche experience. Thank you again for the kind words and good luck with your build!

Are you worried about people stealing your solar panels? they're just glued on!

Honestly no, we have never really worried about it and it’s never been a problem for us, but that’s probably more of an issue in different places that we don’t tend to go to.

Not sure I would want those fans on the dog house pulling the air through. I was just thinking doggy farts in the face. I think I would make them blow the air into the dog house lol.

Haha, I guess that is a consideration! We actually recently turned them around because we got our AC working, so now the fans can pull cold air into the box.

Thank you for posting this! Can you estimate the dimensions of the box you built to house your components? Thank you!

I've been studying the asobolife guidances myself and only planning 100Ah to start. I got confused b/c one diagram says battery to bus, etc is 2/0 and another says 2AWG (boy are these NOT the same!). Do you recall what size you used from your battery --> 300A fuse -> shut off -> +bus and other battery specific routing besides the PV in??? thx. EDITED: slightly reworded to make the electric pathway under discussion clearer for future reference.

They are some of the best references I've seen online! Yes, I used 1/0 for all of those connections you mentioned. Everything works perfectly and I've never had any problems with this, though you could step it up to 2/0 if you felt it necessary. With the charge controller that I'm using, it seemed like 2/0 wouldn't even fit through the holes in the cover to the terminals. Hope that helps!
