You don’t need to buy any kit. You can just refill it from the top (filter hole). Just use a big funnel, make a seal around the filter hole with something (I used small section of clear hose and electrical tape), fill up the funnel up when needed, let gravity do all the work (took about 30min). Much cleaner way and you dont lose any oil trying do it with this kit.
I used a $7 bottle adapter hose from Walmart and took off adapter cap and hose went right over my funnels end and filled through the funnel. The hose has a small tip fitting at the end and it snugs in perfect up top. Took about 20ish minutes to top fill. AND if you do it in your garage or a level enough surface you can do it even without ramps or Jack's there is enough room for a low profile oil pan to slide under and your arm can reach to the allen bolt in transmission pretty easily. I've done it this way twice no issues. No need to over complicate stuff as long as you have an obd11 your golden.
@@kawilifezx10r23 Can you actually do it without lifting the car up? That would make it way easier since I won’t have to level the car with multiples jack points
@RSXengineering I have done it twice without having the car on jackstands. Laying on the floor you can reach both drain bolts in the DSG. Have a low profile oil pan under the car crack the first drain bolt move the pan under and using the allen unscrew the it all the way out. Same with inner bolt. Don't get why people over think this it's way easy. ...unless you have short arms lol then you might have a problem.
Your videos Rock G. Thanks I am fairly new to these platforms and I have a mk6.5 GLI . I love how detailed your videos are . Great camera work too .Cheers.
Just copped my gti cs tag. Gonna look great. Thanks guys. Always enjoy the vids.
Please do a GLI Jet Tag! I’ve been really enjoying your videos.
Just ordered from the CS store. Thanks Cam!
I always loosen the fill plug on a gearbox first just in case. You don't want to have an empty gear box and a seized fill plug.
you fill through the drain plug on these cars
Do NOT hold the bottle upside down. :D
The point of the long tube is to go all the way to the bottom and as air gets in at the top, it pushes the oil into the transmission.
Also, aren't you supposed to go through all the gears to bleed it from air to have it properly filled?
….”I need to do that as well..” I died laughing. Great video guys! Tackling this on my 2018 Passat GT.
Please make a GLI jet tag i would order one instantly!
Cheers for the video. Real helpful.
Love the Cummins call out! I am the engineer on RMEP block line
Repost?
Drain and measure, top fill with a 1/2 quart or so extra through filter access. Bring to temperature. Drain excess Fastest, Easiest and IMO, best way for service
I am surprised someone using motul instead of liqui moly . Nice , with liqui moly dsg clunks in 2nd to 3rd shift but not with motul. My experience.
ive seen some people use the trans filter opening to fill the trans, and some advise against it. would you happen to know why this is?
If I never change transmission oil, it’s a good idea change, because many dealers service don’t want do it if you don’t do on time
What year model is this? Thanks for sharing. Can Anyone tell me exactly Where these are prone to leak??... Got a 2006, can't tell where the heck it's leaking from. Thanks.
- take care
Apparently the Beck and Arnley 252-5000 fluid is an acceptable fluid as well for the DSG transmission.
which app did you use to read trans temperature? I got OBD bluetooth plug
Great video. Does anyone know if the OBDeleven standard (non-pro version) allows for live data/the ability to check the transmission fluid temp? Or is that only available on the pro version?
Also does the car have to be level?
WHAT IS THAT TOOL WITH THE MAGNET FOR UNSCREWING BOLTS I NEED IT
Like those rims!
Hello, how much oil did you put in?
Thumbnail says don’t need a lift. Video shows vehicle on a lift. Good job.
You can also do the top fill method instead of bottom fill .
like where the filter sits?
FCP Euro mentions this during their video.. doing it this way took 2 hours for 5 qts of fluid... so... doable yes... but not ideal?
@@markjohnson2079 you could do worse things to save money
Will this work for a non dsg i have a 2018 passat r line 2.0
Yeah how many DSG services could one get equal to the cost of that Lift?
ya I need to do my Audi TT MK2 3.2L Quattro.
Which model is your OD2eleven device? By the way, I stopped by the VW dealer. They want $499 to do this.
What audi rims you got on ?
3:50 well THAT's a hell of a DSG fart...
100 deg 😭😭 respect to you
What about the GLI jet tags
Is the DSG plug washer a crush washer?
When tightening the bolt I felt it “give” at the end.
Not sure if this was the washer crushing or the treads stripping.
I didn’t have a torque wrench.
Why you didn't filled from top?
Great video bro I drive a 2018 passat R line trim and about to get a stage 1 tune and you save my life to go and try do my own transmission drain and filter
I actually used this filler tool without the regulator…ended up exploding 3 quarts of oil in the shop lmao 😅
Much better
Does the ECU need any type of reset after the DSG service?
No
How about some TDI key chains, I don’t understand the hate towards TDI
What about leaving the battery unplugged for too long? Is there anyway to prevent the computer from resetting?
If you connect a small battery (off a bike, maybe) via auxiliary leads to the terminals before disconnecting and removing the main battery, your settings are kept safe. Still have to do the temp read out thing though.
Please make a R Jet Tag 😁😁
GLI Jet tag please!!!
what is the tool used on the drain plug??
An allen wrench.. 14mm if i remember correctly..
Top show demais serviço feito no golf GTI mk7 top 👏👏😍😍
Better put motul or the original vw on the dsg? What’s your opinion?
always original
If you make a "Golf" keychain I'll get one and put it on my 1989 Golf keys
gli jet tag?
Made a mistake on the first time I uploaded this. We good now🏁 scoop a jet tag on carmaspeeed.com
I was hella confused at first 😂
@@jakepalmer1747 Same! I thought I was caught in a glitch…or something 😅
does your obd device have activate fuel pump for fuel filter changes? i tried changing mine and i could not get the car started afterwards
name obd?
Hi, do you live in Miami fl???
Dealership recommends doing a DSG Fluid swap at 80k for my GLI but some mechanic here said I should do it at 40 due to warmer weather here in Florida. Thoughts anyone? I'm new to the VW gang so just trying to figure out if this guy is upselling me or not?
7 speed is 80k, 6 speed is 40k
Cameron. Thank you for deleting your previous incorrect DSG DIY service and reposting the corrected and proper method. Please do your homework before posting DIY maintenance videos, because there are some that will blindly follow your recommendations. Your street cred is on the mend. Peace!
Do you really need to put the oil front the bottom?
No, can be done from the top, just take's longer!
Think of it like a lower unit gearcase for a boat motor. Filling from the bottom pushes the air out and ensures it is completely full..
@@BabyCharlotteschannelThat doesn’t really matter on these vehicles as you are overfilling and then draining to proper level. It’s extremely easy to ensure proper levels
Does anyone know if you can fill up the VW DSG with fluid using the oil filter oil flow holes? I'd read somewhere you can fill it form there.
Yes DAP’s video says you can it just takes longer
@@nicholasblastow3282 Thanks!
Service interval for this??? Thanks
I believe every 40k
Naw dude it's 10k you will be running on little to no dirty oil at 40k
@@felipecarlos2392 nothing supports that 20k for higher hp and tuned applications is the closest I see to yours outside of racing.
Lets goooo - dababy
Idk why I just want to leave that *excess* fluid in there 😅.
10:50 now we know why you don't put more than 20psi...bottle will explode 😂
This was last weeks videos… why delete to re post?
people were getting on him. you’re supposed to warm up the trans and then drain otherwise you leave a lot of it in there. he didn’t warm it up in the prior video, so he corrected himself in this one.
Wait what ???
Dejavu?
i’ve been in this place befooore!!
3:50 DSG farts for real hahaahah
Do it with no lift real world
Why not catch this last draining and accumulate some extra.seems wastefull.
Him - Don't over pay for a dsg service. Also him - Buys a few hundred dollars worth of gear just to change the oils 😂 🤣
My whole kit including the pump was $250 and 1 service at the dealer is $490
cool all i need now is a $10k lift
They’re only $2k
And you can find them used for less sometimes
I have no idea what’s going on lol first time
Bring back the gti jet tag!!
Thumbnail says "No lift required", but they use a lift. 😠
you dont need one i do it on the floor with a jack
The scattered hook mainly fax because street modestly reach into a absurd blood. wild, funny underclothes
If you don't have a dsg you won't overpay for a dsg service 🤦♂️
Foreaaal😂😂😂 fuck an automatic
You can spend the extra money on a clutch when you wanna actually push some power lol
@@Leeoh949 actually torque not horse power
@@Anthony_DiDonato There’s pros & cons to both types of transmissions. If you drive the DSG in full auto it’s terrible and boring. But if you drive it it in full manual mode it can be very fast and handle a lot of torque. But from a pure driving engagement point of view and if you’re not to concerned with getting up to speed the quickest, then a nice short throw manual is the way to go for sure.
that tool sucks lol
