This is what I have believed and been doing naturally for so long. I hadn't realized how beautifully Chaos Magick fit with me and the only reason I discovered it was due to the inherent exploration of my practice. Nice.
I've been doing this on accident. Through all my experience I kept finding the contradictions and parallels, never being able to pick up just one way of believing anything. But since stumbling on the idea of chaos magick, I understand now

When we say our path is ever growing, we mean it! Im 7 years into mine and I was never big on labels so I didnt dive into the different types of magick (green, storm, kitchen, chaos, etc). I always wanted to be whatever drew me in. But as you tell me all this...I have been a chaos magician the whole time and didnt even know it! The belief system (or lack thereof) especially reasonates and i felt like most didnt understand me when I tried to explain it. It is so refreshing to learn all this. Thank you💕

I’ve had such a hard time defining what “type” of magical belief I fall in….this literally sounds like a description of my belief system out of my own mind, thank you for this. I’ve never found anything to help me to “label” my practice until now
As usual in my practice I'm doing things backwards. I started doing these principles because it felt natural to me before I even knew what chaos magick was.
Found your vid through the witchcraft reddit and I found it very enlightening. With choas magick getting more attention over the last few years, I would not have guessed it had come from that far back. I also have discovered that my personal mindset and practice falls in line with the 6 principles as you have outlined them, so it would seem I am a natural chaos magician! Thank you for your vid, as it has provided me with a new path of research to follow, once I have finished up my current line of research and study.

I have watched and listened to a ton of videos labelled as an introduction to Chaos Magick, but at the end I have not learned anything at all and certainly found anything to build upon. I think keeping your ego under control is a better option than completely going for ego death. Ego is also a thing to keep one from going base primal . Going completely animal. So instead of killing the very thing you're born with , just try to mind it more and find out what makes it swell so that you can keep the swelling down.
I disagree. Firstly the ego is not something we are born with, it id based upon psychological misunderstandings and societal conditioning. It is not necassary in order to be effective in your life path, actually it will make you more effective. Bevause the consequence of ego-death is silence of mind and there is a lot of evidence that the more self-referntial thinking one has the less clarity and the more mental suffering one has. If you think about it, when is it that you feel at your best compared to when you feel at your worst? For most people they feel at their best during flow-states and moements of beauty and performance which is caractherized by prescence and very little amount of thinking. Our worst moments are usually, when we are stressed out or tired which usually consist of huge amounts of self-referencial fear based thinking.

There is so much in the occult community that calls itself chaos magick these days that has absolutely nothing to do with the dearly loved magickal current that started me on my own descent into deeper, more advanced magick years ago...a current I still embrace to this day, that I wasn't sure if what you embraced was the same current that spoke to my heart, as well! It is inCREDIBLE and I am SO glad that I found this video. I've been looking forward to start practicing but for now I've mainly only used Tarot cards and gathering ressources to develop my own unique perspective towards the occult. I'm an anarchist, and none of the schools of thought I found really spoke to me, so I had resigned myself to practise a very solitary path by making up my own spirituality from scratch. AND OMG IT TURNS OUT MY VERY APPROACH IS A THING ALREADY? I feel like I can learn SO much more now!!! Thank you so much for your work~ In my whereabouts I started to document what seems most interesting for me to begin with, which consists of shadow work, alterted states, seasonal rituals, constantly challenging my perspective but also studying myths, anthropology, psychology, and incorporating fictions that I connect with into my practice. I'm agnostic and I do not pretend to know any truth, my current goal with my practice is to explore the limits of what can be as a way to know myself (how can I know who I am if I don't find my limits ?), and to take time to simply exist and celebrate whatever it is I'm feeling and experiencing with mindfulness, as a way to be more at peace, to cultivate a hopeful heart, to connect with others and the land, and to become a better person. Can't wait to start my magical journey~
Came here from your video on servitors (excellent video btw!), and I am speechless. I've heard the terms 'chaos magic' and 'chaos magician' here and there over the years without ever really understanding what they meant. This primer video has given me so many 'oh! I do that!' and 'that's freakishly similar to how I move in the world' moments. Things like 'if everything is true, then nothing is true' and vice versa. Multiple realities or universes that exist all at once. Thoughts and feelings I didn't have names for for how I thought the world worked but had little validation for (not that everything we do in life needs outside validation, but it certainly doesn't hurt). I shouldn't have come here when I'm in the middle of finals season, but I have every intention of coming back and exploring this more next week! Thank you for the thought and care you put into your videos, Your explanations are clear and I can follow them, and I can only imagine the challenge of synthesizing complex concepts for newbies (even though I started practicing magic in some form almost 20 years ago, I still feel like a total newb).

Sooo chaos magick sounds very similar to what i believed for many years? Like every god and goddesses are kinda real in some sort of form because people believe in them and in the same moment they aren't. When i was a child I used to ask "moon, every god, goddesses, fairys and powers that hear me and wanted to help" to help with my wishes. And it worked for me

I'd heard the term thrown around but hadn't paid any mind until I watched this. Surprised now, didn't realize my beliefs & way of practicing align with the principals. Although I've wavered a bit on a higher power/source/collective consciousness. Ever since I was a child in Bible school arguing with my teachers that all religions were just different ways of interpreting the same thing, the place where all our energy comes from. Left the Lutheran church as a teen and started studying world religions, but never felt like one 'fit' me. I was drawn to magical practice because of its openness and ability to make it whatever one wishes & works for them. It sounds to me like the Tao of magic. When the Tao is named, it is no longer the Tao. Everything and nothing… The Tao Te Ching has been my favorite book for almost 30 years. Stephen Mitchell wrote my most favorite interpretation of Lao Tsu’s amazing writings. Chaos magic sounds perfect for me. Peer reviewed journals and neuroscience and the ways magic and dopamine are connected… just awesome

Thank you so much for this video :) I've been doing this naturally my whole life and denied it until I was 18 due to being Christian. When I finally left Christianity at 17, it still took me a year and some change to accept that this was okay. Since then, I haven't looked back. I'll be turning 19 this year. I feel like this video was speaking right to me and I'm so happy that I've found it. My favorite part was about the fictional characters. I do that all the time lol. 💖
While watching the video, I found myself agreeing with some of the established principles for this line of magick; questioning society and most established rules, cataloging everything. So this sounds like something I could learn more of to feel more confident in my "spiritual" journey (not sure what to call it lol). Do you have any suggestions or even a video for how to open myself up to walking this path, because as much as I find it intriguing, I also hear myself saying how "it isn't real" or having doubts in my ability.
Ooof. I definitely relate to this! As a more science driven person, I have battled with my rational mind quite a bit. I just posted a video recently on "How to Develop Psychic Abilities" and some of the information in there might be useful. I talk about "doubt" and "expectations" for a good chunk of the first part of the video. I know you aren't necessarily trying to develop psychic abilities, but the same advice can be applied to anyone entering the spiritual realm and questioning their sanity or magical abilities. Feel free to check out the first 10 mins of that video if you want! (I'm pretty sure it's in the first 10 minutes.) Also, chaos magick is an excellent practice to get into if you are a skeptical person... Because, chaos magick relies heavily on the principles of psychology. All I can say is... Reality is a construct of the society we live in. Who's to say what's real or not real? Skepticism is really healthy but don't let it close your mind to incredible opportunities. 🤗❤️ You can definitely remain skeptical while still dabbling in magick! Edit: To add, I would start with developing a strong meditation practice. You might find that some incredible things happen during your meditations!
I find it fascinating how my own development over time leaving organized religion I was raised in, seaking knowledge from other practices and cultures as teen in college and beyond etc, coming to believe everything can be true and untrue at the same time, my respect and interest in various cultures etc, this is very affirming
I think chaos magick is perfect for my beliefs. My mother's maiden name is literally Chaos! A psychic told me her dad, my grandpa, was a guardian angel of mine, which I already knew, but was beautiful to hear. Questions: how can I be sure that a deity, or practice, isn't working for me when I am so new and have yet to hone my psychic intuition? Any recommendations on deities or practices for self confidence? Finally, I am on one Rx med, but weening off of this year (under my Drs supervision.) I know my Rx affects my dreams; I also feel it somewhat hinders my spiritual side. I cannot stop "cold turkey," but going Rx free is a long process. I am hesitant to jump in, as I am concerned my results could be "false negatives" until I am off all prescriptions. Is prescription interference an unnecessary worry?
Do you have a video on detailed record keeping. This is my biggest struggle in my practice and I want to improve it but am never sure what all I need to record and I am always missing information to assess results at future times. I never got to do experiments in science class, I feel that would have helped me a lot. Or maybe you have a reference source for that?
What a great idea! I can definitely add that to the list of video ideas. I do not have a video currently on detailed record keeping. But just as a quick thing, here's the general flow that I follow: - Intention: (what is the purpose, what is the chant, write down the wording you used) - Ingredients - Timing (what day of the week, any astrological significance, moon phase, etc.) - The procedure: How did you raise and release energy? - Results: how long did it take to manifest, if it did? What were the exact results? Was this exactly what you asked for, or was it not precise enough? Hopefully that helps a least a little bit for now! Thank you for the suggestion 🙏🖤

I dont know if I agree with her sentiments on how discordianism differs from chaos magic, but who am I to define what Chaos magic is? That may be more of a philosophical question I think.
I have been doing this since the beginning of my practice without I was doing it. I have been practicing for 3 years and sigils magick was one of the first things I learned I didn’t even realise that had a tie to chaos magick and I absolutely love sigils and being creative with them. I only recently started to dive deeper into chaos magick because of the goddess Eris as she came into my recently and has been teaching me chaos magick and also teaching me to find peace with the chaos. I find it so interesting how I have been doing this and I wasn’t even aware of it. However, I do have one question tho, does dream work link into chaos magick since that is subconscious work too?

Thank you for the information about Chaos Magick 🙋♂, so if I understand correctly Chaos Magick is mainly linked to manifestation (using all resources regardless of their origin, but that they work), and everything applied to both internal and external results, but it is not a path to transcend consciousness to higher spiritual levels. Is moving your bed to the dining room and the dining room table to the bedroom because you sleep better and do better mentally, emotionally and spiritually that way an example? We are conditioned to have the bed in the bedroom, not many Americans sleep in the dining room. Just asking. It’s getting rid of conditioning, it’s a personal experience etc.
Interesting though I am not a chaos magician because I have strong disagreements with the psychological model of magick, it's interesting to see other modalities of practice.

Yesss... Another convert! 😂 But in all seriousness, I'm with you. I do believe there is a higher power (I call it "source") with which we all derive from. And knowing that, I still consider myself a chaos witch. There's a difference between acknowledging the existence of some sort of higher power out there, and actually claiming one religion or one perspective as the ultimate truth. Even if there is a higher power that exists, there could be many truths! Most chaos witches/magicians are atheist, but I have met some that are agnostic. And it sounds like you fall into that category. 😊

Ooh that is a great question!!! I kind of want to do an entire video just to answer this question because my answer is way too long for texting. 😂 Short answer: it depends on how you define the left-hand path (LHP). Some people say that the right-hand path (RHP) can be seen as, "I am communing with God." Whereas the LHP can be seen as, "I am God." From this perspective, the LHP and chaos magick are very similar... Chaos Magick sees no God, yet everything is God at the same time. There is no god above to commune with because WE are God. So from this atheist-ish perspective, the LHP and chaos magick really align here. However, some people define the RHP as "benevolent magick" and the LHP as "malevolent magick" or baneful magick. From this perspective, I would not say that the LHP and chaos magick have similarities because chaos magick is not malevolent OR benevolent. Chaos Magick just... IS. Chaos magick is neutral. It really depends on the practitioner whether they use chaos magick for good or bad intent... But chaos magick itself is not baneful magick.
@@jenniferthibodeaux8565 some LHP practitioners do work with deities and entities as separate beings... Especially if they define LHP as more of a baneful magick practice. However, other LHPs are atheist/agnostic and take more of a psychological approach... Where they are technically working with a deity but they see it as a psychological archetype to access this energy within their own mind. LHP is SO vast... If you talk to one LHP practitioner, they'll probably disagree with another LHP practitioner! It is a highly individualized practice and it varies so much.

I'm a beginner in the Magickal ways and I have always liked to write stories as a kid and read comics, Grant Morrison's Hypersigil has always intrigued me I want to master that. Along with regular sigils. I like to think of myself as a Magickal Writing Wizard lol I just want to control my own life and nothing else. Although lately, I've been receiving a lot of Norse symbols in my life for some reason.
Just watched the video. I have a couple questions. 1. Do chaos magicians/witches ever choose to work with a certain pantheon/ patron deity along with others? 2. Do chaos practitioners identify as either magician or witch exclusively. Both questions are a bit subjective and probably more for other people's reference but I didn't know if there was a distinction made in regards to the actual practitioner. I ask because I feel I fit in with all this except for the two questions above. I feel comfortable assuming the chaos label but I also want to know if there will be differences down the road so that I can expect that. Thank you for your time and videos!
Hi, there! So I actually made a whole separate video about Chaos Magick & Deity Work since it's so complicated. I may not be able to fully answer the first question in this comment. But basically, chaos magicians (or witches) do what works best for them based on experimentation - not because they believe any particular form of dogma is the one and only truth. Definitely check out that video for a more thorough explanation! (I think it's the second video pinned on my account.) In regards to the second question, some people call themselves magicians, some people call themselves witches. The label is really up to you! "Magician" typically refers to someone who is a bit more scientific in their approach to magick. Whereas "witch" typically refers to someone who is a bit more ecstatic in their approach to magick. Though, the labels have many different meanings depending on who you talk to. Some people don't even identify as chaos magicians or chaos witches... But they do adopt some of the chaos magick ideas into their own magical practice. So let's say you're a shamanic practitioner or a hedge witch or something. You can choose to add a bit of chaos magick flair into your practice, without actually calling yourself a chaos magician. Hope that helps!

What I was really driving at is that I was sort of called to work with, let's just say, elemental forces of nature. They then had me start on a path of self initiatory study of the golden dawn to help with base knowledge and higher self connection. I really feel that my path would be considered witchcraft but I am currently studying ceremonial magic. I guess your channel name really says it all. I may just go with practitioner myself.

Sounds like you might have a similar title in the future! Although, chaos magick kind of allows you to dip in and out of various magical practices so that works too 😊 And, no problem!

Okay so genuinely asking from a skeptic standpoint, not trying to offend but rather put away these thoughts myself- if in chaos magick it's all (in very short) "in your head," then where is the magic? I feel like my own spiritual beliefs fall along the lines of chaos magick but I almost... don't want them to bc I want things to be real if that makes sense 😅 if it's not literally real, then in my current view, it kind of loses its point. Ex: correspondences. If there's no definite association with an "ingredient," then does it matter what you use it all? What is the point of the magickal practices if in a sense it's a placebo in your mind anyway? Also, with deities- reaching out to, having a relationship with, etc, feels too abstract if it's not grounded in anything tangible? Sorry if this is long winded, it's been a long day, but genuinely just want to figure this out for myself bc tbh these sort of beliefs are what I feel like are holding me back spiritually. @Ivy The Occultist for a while I was beginning to believe I was an Ecclectic Witch but since watching this video I am thinking I may be more of a Chaos Witch
I need an explanation, If the first rule says that there are no rules: Then rules and structure are taken to the absurd, as are all symbols and the need to learn. If every symbol can mean something different and highly individual for every person every day, and at the same time one symbol can mean everything at the same time every day of the week, then I would not call that chaos but madness. Because then one means everything and everything means nothing, at the same time.
This method relates to me as a Jungian. I don't believe in a religion, and it's a healthy attitude to keep skepticism to everything including ourselves.
This is what I have believed and been doing naturally for so long. I hadn't realized how beautifully Chaos Magick fit with me and the only reason I discovered it was due to the inherent exploration of my practice. Nice.

When we say our path is ever growing, we mean it! Im 7 years into mine and I was never big on labels so I didnt dive into the different types of magick (green, storm, kitchen, chaos, etc). I always wanted to be whatever drew me in. But as you tell me all this...I have been a chaos magician the whole time and didnt even know it! The belief system (or lack thereof) especially reasonates and i felt like most didnt understand me when I tried to explain it. It is so refreshing to learn all this. Thank you💕

I think keeping your ego under control is a better option than completely going for ego death. Ego is also a thing to keep one from going base primal . Going completely animal. So instead of killing the very thing you're born with , just try to mind it more and find out what makes it swell so that you can keep the swelling down.

Firstly the ego is not something we are born with, it id based upon psychological misunderstandings and societal conditioning.
It is not necassary in order to be effective in your life path, actually it will make you more effective. Bevause the consequence of ego-death is silence of mind and there is a lot of evidence that the more self-referntial thinking one has the less clarity and the more mental suffering one has.
If you think about it, when is it that you feel at your best compared to when you feel at your worst?
For most people they feel at their best during flow-states and moements of beauty and performance which is caractherized by prescence and very little amount of thinking.
Our worst moments are usually, when we are stressed out or tired which usually consist of huge amounts of self-referencial fear based thinking.

There is so much in the occult community that calls itself chaos magick these days that has absolutely nothing to do with the dearly loved magickal current that started me on my own descent into deeper, more advanced magick years ago...a current I still embrace to this day, that I wasn't sure if what you embraced was the same current that spoke to my heart, as well! I've been looking forward to start practicing but for now I've mainly only used Tarot cards and gathering ressources to develop my own unique perspective towards the occult. I'm an anarchist, and none of the schools of thought I found really spoke to me, so I had resigned myself to practise a very solitary path by making up my own spirituality from scratch. AND OMG IT TURNS OUT MY VERY APPROACH IS A THING ALREADY? I feel like I can learn SO much more now!!! Thank you so much for your work~
In my whereabouts I started to document what seems most interesting for me to begin with, which consists of shadow work, alterted states, seasonal rituals, constantly challenging my perspective but also studying myths, anthropology, psychology, and incorporating fictions that I connect with into my practice.
I'm agnostic and I do not pretend to know any truth, my current goal with my practice is to explore the limits of what can be as a way to know myself (how can I know who I am if I don't find my limits ?), and to take time to simply exist and celebrate whatever it is I'm feeling and experiencing with mindfulness, as a way to be more at peace, to cultivate a hopeful heart, to connect with others and the land, and to become a better person.

Came here from your video on servitors (excellent video btw!), and I am speechless. I've heard the terms 'chaos magic' and 'chaos magician' here and there over the years without ever really understanding what they meant. This primer video has given me so many 'oh! I do that!' and 'that's freakishly similar to how I move in the world' moments. Things like 'if everything is true, then nothing is true' and vice versa. Multiple realities or universes that exist all at once. Thoughts and feelings I didn't have names for for how I thought the world worked but had little validation for (not that everything we do in life needs outside validation, but it certainly doesn't hurt).
I shouldn't have come here when I'm in the middle of finals season, but I have every intention of coming back and exploring this more next week! Thank you for the thought and care you put into your videos, Your explanations are clear and I can follow them, and I can only imagine the challenge of synthesizing complex concepts for newbies (even though I started practicing magic in some form almost 20 years ago, I still feel like a total newb).

Sooo chaos magick sounds very similar to what i believed for many years? Like every god and goddesses are kinda real in some sort of form because people believe in them and in the same moment they aren't.
When i was a child I used to ask "moon, every god, goddesses, fairys and powers that hear me and wanted to help" to help with my wishes. And it worked for me

Same as most people here, I thought I made up my own way, then see this info and realized I have been on this path naturally.
I'd heard the term thrown around but hadn't paid any mind until I watched this. Surprised now, didn't realize my beliefs & way of practicing align with the principals. Although I've wavered a bit on a higher power/source/collective consciousness. Ever since I was a child in Bible school arguing with my teachers that all religions were just different ways of interpreting the same thing, the place where all our energy comes from. Left the Lutheran church as a teen and started studying world religions, but never felt like one 'fit' me. I was drawn to magical practice because of its openness and ability to make it whatever one wishes & works for them. Really appreciated this video, thank you especially for the book recommendations! 💜

The Tao Te Ching has been my favorite book for almost 30 years. Stephen Mitchell wrote my most favorite interpretation of Lao Tsu’s amazing writings.

Thank you so much for this video :) I've been doing this naturally my whole life and denied it until I was 18 due to being Christian. When I finally left Christianity at 17, it still took me a year and some change to accept that this was okay. Since then, I haven't looked back. I'll be turning 19 this year. While watching the video, I found myself agreeing with some of the established principles for this line of magick; questioning society and most established rules, cataloging everything. So this sounds like something I could learn more of to feel more confident in my "spiritual" journey (not sure what to call it lol). Do you have any suggestions or even a video for how to open myself up to walking this path, because as much as I find it intriguing, I also hear myself saying how "it isn't real" or having doubts in my ability.
Ooof. I definitely relate to this! As a more science driven person, I have battled with my rational mind quite a bit. I just posted a video recently on "How to Develop Psychic Abilities" and some of the information in there might be useful. I talk about "doubt" and "expectations" for a good chunk of the first part of the video. I know you aren't necessarily trying to develop psychic abilities, but the same advice can be applied to anyone entering the spiritual realm and questioning their sanity or magical abilities. Feel free to check out the first 10 mins of that video if you want! (I'm pretty sure it's in the first 10 minutes.) Also, chaos magick is an excellent practice to get into if you are a skeptical person... Because, chaos magick relies heavily on the principles of psychology. All I can say is... Reality is a construct of the society we live in. Who's to say what's real or not real? Skepticism is really healthy but don't let it close your mind to incredible opportunities. 🤗❤️ You can definitely remain skeptical while still dabbling in magick!
Edit: To add, I would start with developing a strong meditation practice. You might find that some incredible things happen during your meditations!

I find it fascinating how my own development over time leaving organized religion I was raised in, seaking knowledge from other practices and cultures as teen in college and beyond etc, coming to believe everything can be true and untrue at the same time, my respect and interest in various cultures etc, this is very affirming
I think chaos magick is perfect for my beliefs. My mother's maiden name is literally Chaos! A psychic told me her dad, my grandpa, was a guardian angel of mine, which I already knew, but was beautiful to hear. Questions: how can I be sure that a deity, or practice, isn't working for me when I am so new and have yet to hone my psychic intuition? Any recommendations on deities or practices for self confidence? Finally, I am on one Rx med, but weening off of this year (under my Drs supervision.) I know my Rx affects my dreams; I also feel it somewhat hinders my spiritual side. I cannot stop "cold turkey," but going Rx free is a long process. I am hesitant to jump in, as I am concerned my results could be "false negatives" until I am off all prescriptions. Is prescription interference an unnecessary worry?

Do you have a video on detailed record keeping. This is my biggest struggle in my practice and I want to improve it but am never sure what all I need to record and I am always missing information to assess results at future times. I never got to do experiments in science class, I feel that would have helped me a lot. Or maybe you have a reference source for that?
What a great idea! I can definitely add that to the list of video ideas. I do not have a video currently on detailed record keeping. But just as a quick thing, here's the general flow that I follow:
- Intention: (what is the purpose, what is the chant, write down the wording you used)
- Ingredients
- Timing (what day of the week, any astrological significance, moon phase, etc.)
- The procedure: How did you raise and release energy?
- Results: how long did it take to manifest, if it did? What were the exact results? Was this exactly what you asked for, or was it not precise enough?

I dont know if I agree with her sentiments on how discordianism differs from chaos magic, but who am I to define what Chaos magic is? That may be more of a philosophical question I think.
I have been doing this since the beginning of my practice without I was doing it. I have been practicing for 3 years and sigils magick was one of the first things I learned I didn’t even realise that had a tie to chaos magick and I absolutely love sigils and being creative with them. I only recently started to dive deeper into chaos magick because of the goddess Eris as she came into my recently and has been teaching me chaos magick and also teaching me to find peace with the chaos. I find it so interesting how I have been doing this and I wasn’t even aware of it. However, I do have one question tho, does dream work link into chaos magick since that is subconscious work too?

Is moving your bed to the dining room and the dining room table to the bedroom because you sleep better and do better mentally, emotionally and spiritually that way an example? We are conditioned to have the bed in the bedroom, not many Americans sleep in the dining room. Just asking. It’s getting rid of conditioning, it’s a personal experience etc.

And knowing that, I still consider myself a chaos witch. There's a difference between acknowledging the existence of some sort of higher power out there, and actually claiming one religion or one perspective as the ultimate truth. Even if there is a higher power that exists, there could be many truths! Most chaos witches/magicians are atheist, but I have met some that are agnostic. And it sounds like you fall into that category. 😊

How does left hand magic and chaos magic differ and how are the similar?
Ooh that is a great question!!! I kind of want to do an entire video just to answer this question because my answer is way too long for texting. 😂 Short answer: it depends on how you define the left-hand path (LHP). Some people say that the right-hand path (RHP) can be seen as, "I am communing with God." Whereas the LHP can be seen as, "I am God." From this perspective, the LHP and chaos magick are very similar... Chaos Magick sees no God, yet everything is God at the same time. There is no god above to commune with because WE are God. So from this atheist-ish perspective, the LHP and chaos magick really align here. However, some people define the RHP as "benevolent magick" and the LHP as "malevolent magick" or baneful magick. From this perspective, I would not say that the LHP and chaos magick have similarities because chaos magick is not malevolent OR benevolent. Chaos Magick just... IS. Chaos magick is neutral. It really depends on the practitioner whether they use chaos magick for good or bad intent... But chaos magick itself is not baneful magick.

@@jenniferthibodeaux8565 some LHP practitioners do work with deities and entities as separate beings... Especially if they define LHP as more of a baneful magick practice. However, other LHPs are atheist/agnostic and take more of a psychological approach... Where they are technically working with a deity but they see it as a psychological archetype to access this energy within their own mind. LHP is SO vast... If you talk to one LHP practitioner, they'll probably disagree with another LHP practitioner! It is a highly individualized practice and it varies so much.

I'm a beginner in the Magickal ways and I have always liked to write stories as a kid and read comics, Grant Morrison's Hypersigil has always intrigued me I want to master that. Along with regular sigils. I like to think of myself as a Magickal Writing Wizard lol I just want to control my own life and nothing else. Although lately, I've been receiving a lot of Norse symbols in my life for some reason.
Just watched the video. I have a couple questions.
1. Do chaos magicians/witches ever choose to work with a certain pantheon/ patron deity along with others?
2. Do chaos practitioners identify as either magician or witch exclusively.
Both questions are a bit subjective and probably more for other people's reference but I didn't know if there was a distinction made in regards to the actual practitioner. I ask because I feel I fit in with all this except for the two questions above. I feel comfortable assuming the chaos label but I also want to know if there will be differences down the road so that I can expect that. Thank you for your time and videos!
Hi, there! So I actually made a whole separate video about Chaos Magick & Deity Work since it's so complicated. I may not be able to fully answer the first question in this comment. But basically, chaos magicians (or witches) do what works best for them based on experimentation - not because they believe any particular form of dogma is the one and only truth. Definitely check out that video for a more thorough explanation! (I think it's the second video pinned on my account.)
In regards to the second question, some people call themselves magicians, some people call themselves witches. The label is really up to you! "Magician" typically refers to someone who is a bit more scientific in their approach to magick. Whereas "witch" typically refers to someone who is a bit more ecstatic in their approach to magick. Though, the labels have many different meanings depending on who you talk to. Some people don't even identify as chaos magicians or chaos witches... But they do adopt some of the chaos magick ideas into their own magical practice. So let's say you're a shamanic practitioner or a hedge witch or something. You can choose to add a bit of chaos magick flair into your practice, without actually calling yourself a chaos magician. Hope that helps!

What I was really driving at is that I was sort of called to work with, let's just say, elemental forces of nature. They then had me start on a path of self initiatory study of the golden dawn to help with base knowledge and higher self connection. I really feel that my path would be considered witchcraft but I am currently studying ceremonial magic. I guess your channel name really says it all. I may just go with practitioner myself.
@@nu61 haha it sounds like you have the same problem as me! I ultimately decided on calling myself an "Occultist" because my practice is too eclectic to properly identify. Sounds like you might have a similar title in the future! Although, chaos magick kind of allows you to dip in and out of various magical practices so that works too 😊 And, no problem!

Okay so genuinely asking from a skeptic standpoint, not trying to offend but rather put away these thoughts myself- if in chaos magick it's all (in very short) "in your head," then where is the magic? I feel like my own spiritual beliefs fall along the lines of chaos magick but I almost... don't want them to bc I want things to be real if that makes sense 😅 if it's not literally real, then in my current view, it kind of loses its point. Ex: correspondences. If there's no definite association with an "ingredient," then does it matter what you use it all? What is the point of the magickal practices if in a sense it's a placebo in your mind anyway? Also, with deities- reaching out to, having a relationship with, etc, feels too abstract if it's not grounded in anything tangible? Sorry if this is long winded, it's been a long day, but genuinely just want to figure this out for myself bc tbh these sort of beliefs are what I feel like are holding me back spiritually. I need an explanation, If the first rule says that there are no rules:
Then rules and structure are taken to the absurd, as are all symbols and the need to learn.
If every symbol can mean something different and highly individual for every person every day, and at the same time one symbol can mean everything at the same time every day of the week, then I would not call that chaos but madness.
Because then one means everything and everything means nothing, at the same time.
This method relates to me as a Jungian. I don't believe in a religion, and it's a healthy attitude to keep skepticism to everything including ourselves.
