10 08 2019 Shirley Truck Fire

Truck fire in Shirley, Tuesday October 8, 2019.
At approx. 5:50 a.m. authorities were notified of a truck fire on the eastbound portion of Sunrise Highway, just east of exit 58 William Floyd Parkway. The Mastic Fire Dept. and SCPD Highway Patrol responded.
The truck, which was carrying linens, was fully engulfed which caused the vehicles diesel fuel tanks to rupture, spilling fuel onto the roadway and grassy shoulder.
Sunrise Highway was closed eastbound with all eastbound traffic diverting to William Floyd Parkway south.
No injuries were reported.
