  • @prolfinator
    @prolfinator 8 лет назад

    holy shit you people need to stop comparing a player from 3 decades ago to someone playing now. of course the more modern player is going to be better. they are using decades of knowledge, weight training like they are body builders on venice beach and use the most advanced safety and medical personel and equipment. but if alan page played now and not in the 70s he would have gone through all the same things players do nowadays. he wouldnt be some neanderthal from the past he was one of the smartest football players of his time and that is saying something. he went to law school while he was still playing football. same with jj watt, if he grew up in the 50's and played in the 70's he wouldnt have any of the knowledge and special programs that make him elite as he does today. it would be a level playing field and im sure he wouldve been a tougher player because of it but i doubt he would be stronger or faster because all that came from modern training. These are two players that are the greatest in the sport at their position at the time. in 10 years were gonna be calling watt a pussy compared to the next big guy, its an endless cycle and its pointless to be arguing about something that is unable to prove. just enjoy the fucking game.

    • @josedopwell9645
      @josedopwell9645 6 лет назад

      JOSHUA HERNANDEZ, only player to OFFICIALLY have two 20-sack seasons. Individual sacks weren't counted until 1982, Lawrence Taylor's second year in the league. There are great pass rushers like Deacon Jones, Doug Atkins and Gino Marchetti who have no official stats to back it up. Although someone took the time to go through Rams' game films and came up with 173.5 unofficial sacks for Deacon, who also played for San Diego and Washington at the end of his career.
      The NFL MVP has virtually been the complete possession of the offense, especially QBs and RBs. Even WRs seldom win because theirs is a "dependent" position, although you could say that's the case for ALL positions. Imagine a quarterback or running back without an offensive line, for example.
      Page was utterly unblockable in 1971. I think he even blocked kicks on special teams. He led his team to the playoffs. LT in 1986 was even more dominant. He not only elevated the Giants to the postseason, he led them to their first Super Bowl victory. Watt's 2014 Texans, though greatly improved, didn't make the playoffs.
      In a QB-dominated league a defensive player would have to elevate his team to great heights to win LEAGUE MVP honors.
