I used to work as a foreman gardener for what you would call an HOA. Whilst cutting one lawn, a front door opened and a dog on an extending leash walked out, across the path and crapped on the lawn, then turned around and went back in and door shut. I went and scooped up the doggy donation and placed it on the front door step and carried on mowing the lawn. I parked up mower and waited, behind a hedge. The lady of the house exited a few minutes later and trod straight in it. It was all i could do not to laugh out loud as she shreiked at her dog. This was in England in 1978.

I once worked in a 'Boiler Room Office', literally! My desk and work area was in a room that shared the heating system for the entire building! At one point, management started to expect me to do maintenance on said heating system, and I even pointed out that the 400Amp service panel was humming loudly. Apparently, the building power use had expanded to 385Amps draw (far above the 70% they should be at), and the company had to pay the utility to go to 600Amps. Got the 'stink eye' from the CFO for a while after that.
I used to drive truck for a living, and one of the companies I drove for insisted that we use their "optimized fueling" setup, especially the new dispatcher I had been assigned. I knew it was a horrible idea, but decided to use it to show my dispatcher how bad it could get because he harped on me for nearly a month straight about not using it. I ran out of fuel 4 times in one week in the middle of winter, one time waiting 12 hours for the first available service vehicle in the dead of night in NY state with outdoor temperatures reaching -25°F overnight (luckily it wasn't my first rodeo and I had the right supplies to stay comfortable and warm). My dispatcher was surprised I didn't need medical services and told me to simply fuel as much as I felt I needed from them on, he got a write up and a couple of unpaid days off and new training.
Another unrelated item of interest: I worked for an independent contractor that fired me (literally because I refused to break the law for them) while trying to consider me an independent contractor for their company, but I won the unemployment case. I had hooked up their home entertainment system (labeling everything for easy reconnecting) that their electrician father couldn't figure out for some reason. They contacted me a year after firing me to ask me to hook up, for $100, a new system they purchased. To which I replied with a quote for three times the amount offered and they politely refused.
About the service dog. If this happened in the USA the dog can be off leash as long as it's voice controlled. The reason for this is if the disability it's not easy to hold a leash or if the leash interferes with the dogs ability to do it's job. Example during a seizure my dog's leash can hurt her & I both. Deleting the Kernal files from your System32 folder is at least less nasty than instructing them to reformat their C Drive. At least once they get the OS fixed, they didn't lose the entire contents of their C drive.
This is probably the third or fourth time I’ve listened to this compilation… but for the professor using his own textbook… I had a professor do that, but she did it to have an affordable textbook to the students. She made basically nothing off of it and had it be a super cheap quality. I think it was maybe $50 vs the $200+ of other textbooks. She hated how expensive books were and she thought it was ridiculous
The only jobs that will be safe if we go into a major depression will be clerking in a tobacco or liquor store. People are going to do whatever they have to to get their smokes and booze, even make their kids go hungry!
Paying a bill in pennies: They were withdrawn from circulation in 2013, existing coinage remains legal. Banks could not provide such a quantity after Feb 4, 2013. BTW, Canada used a copper alloy, unlike the USA where they are Copper plated Zinc, and the metal value FAR exceeded the face value.
The Coin Limit Law isn't always enforced, but if you find yourself with a crap-load of coins, the best way to use a lot of them at a Business is to bring them already rolled...the Business is more likely to accept the rolls of coins because they can quickly count the coins if they're already rolled because they just need to count the rolls and multiply by the value of the roll ($0.50 in the case of a roll of pennies for example)...
Heya! I've managed a few retail locations in my day and always had a policy that coin rolls needed to be broken open and counted if a customer used them to pay. We've found metal washers, arcade tokens and other valueless things in the middle of rolls. Never trust that a roll is complete.
About the insurance post. I really understand how they feel. I have a mobile power chair a while back the charger went out. So I called the provider who brought the chair to me. They said they would not take payment from my insurance company for the charger. That it would cost $125.00. Now I understand that to most people that is not a lot of money but for me it was like $1,000.00. So I couldn’t afford it. I’m on disability for the past 15 years due to complications from cancer surgery. I called the insurance company and they would not pay for it but they would pay for a new chair. But the government will only pay for one every five years and i had only had it for three years. So I was up a creek with out a paddle. I told my youngest brother (I have 4 brothers) he had a power chair he no longer uses and let me have his. That was in 2021 last year. If it had not been for him I still would not have a working chair. God is always good to me. :-)
Story 13, when I heard him say Sturgeon Bay, I got really excited. I’m from Wisconsin and very few Reddit stories are from my state (that actually tells the location)
Story 29. HR Karen who forced dress code with wool clothings. OP said she tied her knockers in a knot and went to seniors. That explain how she got the job, and got her way out.
Back in the early 80’s my parents collected $300 ish in Pennie’s to buy this old dodge truck. The guy loved Pennie’s. He laughed and accepted it. Back then my parents were taking metals copper, aluminum and steel to scrap yards and they said $300 in Pennie’s was worth $450 on the copper market but because Pennie’s were still money the scrap yards would not accept it.
Even in America there is no federal statute mandating that a private business, a person, or an organization must accept currency or coins as payment for goods or services. Private businesses are free to develop their own policies on whether to accept cash unless their particular state has a law that says otherwise.
58:50 The courtesy clerk deserved reprimand, I don’t even understand how that’s malicious compliance, that’s just a kid being a dickhead to authority or quote “a great boss”
1:06:10 not malicious compliance but reminded me of a funny story from when I was pregnant with my daughter. I was doing competitive swimming while pregnant, I was 24 at the time but my siblings were still under 18, so my parents were involved with the swim board for our province. Anyways I was 7.5 months pregnant at our provincial meet and had been cleared by my physician to swim competitively as it was good for me and the baby and something I had done for a long time prior to being pregnant. Well, some Karen from another region didn’t like that I was swimming while pregnant and actually went and yelled at my dad for being so irresponsible and allowing me to swim when I was pregnant. My dad actually laughed at her and told the Karen, “she’s 24 years old, whether she swims or not is up to her and the medical aspect of it is between her and her doctor and is none of my business,” and then he walked away. My dad told me about it in front of another one of my teammates who was actually a doctor who previously practiced family medicine before going into general surgery and actually confirmed to my dad that swimming when I was having a normal pregnancy was healthy for me and the baby. The swimming must not have affected my daughter because I delivered her 6 weeks later and she was perfectly healthy and is now a happy and healthy 5 year old.
Best story of title change rather than raise, is Will Wheaton on Star Trek the Next Generation, he wanted a raise going into a new season, producers countered with no more money but his character got a promotion, didn't fly, it was pointed out that they are NOT actually Star Fleet, its a tv show... lmfao
For some reason I'm reminded, not of a story of malicious compliance, but just of, company incompetence. I had to get internet get up in a place, and, it just wasn't working. Called the provider who sent a technician, late, very late. Of course waited all day for them. Too late to fix the problem, but they identified it. So, the next day we had two guys roll up, not from the company, but contracted by them. They spent hours trying to even figure out what the problem was before... realising what we kept telling them. We needed, the company, not them. Something about a big box out on the street they didn't even have keys or the authority to touch. Anouther day wasted by the time they called to reinform what should have been clear from the first guy. Then a few more days till we get someone. You wonder why companies can't realise how important communication is.
My only malicious compliance story just made me more jaded. I worked tech support for sprintPCS via contract company like 20 years ago. They had these one-size fits all call metrics they insist everyone meet, by far the most important of which was AHT, or Average Handle Time. It had to be under 11 minutes, meaning the average amount of time you spend per incoming call. This was easy for customer service because 9 times out of 10 all they needed to do was get the number, pull up the account, try to sell them something, and then send them to me. They're supposed to warm transfer and give me the number and let me pull up the account so I don't have to ask the customer all the same questions, but they almost never did because we had no way of tracking who sent the call to us. Solving a technical issue, almost any technical issue, takes far longer. It was literally impossible to take most of these calls in less than 11 minutes. I told them I can do it fast or I can do it right. The customers aren't gonna give a flowery fuck if it takes a while, they're going to care if it works. But the company I worked for made it clear the caller was not our customer. SprintPCS was. And they want it fast. So I started blitzing thru the calls and taking any excuse I could to get off the phone, thinking they'd get so many complaints, they'd beg me to start fixing shit again. They gave me an award.

A doctor of veterinary medicine and a doctor of epidemiology when hassled repeatedly about a hat that he wore during the winter had this to say. yes Ron I have two of them want to shite in and wanted to cover it up. In Denmark you do not have 24 months full warranty. You have 24 months right of complaint. Case law has established that only after 6 months can you claim a manufacturing defect enabling you to get a whole new product or void the purchase (what I would consider full warranty). After that you can claim free repairs for the next 18 months if you can prove that the product has been used as would be expected (giving 24 months of free repairs). So in essence a product sold in Denmark must be able to function as expected for the first 24 months after purchase, otherwise you can claim free repairs.
Maybe you should be appropriately dressed whet you go out to let your dog out. You can get up to let your dog out but you take HOURS to pick up after it? You're in the wrong.
Having been traveling the world in the 1980s, I can name 20 to 30 different nations that'd be paying $13 an hour to 13 year olds. All of them so poor/overinflated economy that $13.00 would be equivalent to 1980s $5.15 Minimum Wage.
Good stories but I really don't wanna hear your commentaries after each one, if you just moved onto each new story after finishing one, that'd be great, thanks 😄❤️
My dad used to work tech at a staples. He was the only tech in the store, and somehow became the best tech selling store in the district. Theu gave him a $0.04 raise that quarter. 4 pennies an hour raise.
As a manager myself the guy with the shirt. Yes first 2 times is funny like you said after the 4th I'd tell him you're actions are going to get us both trouble please knock it off I understand your disdain but corporate is law and we must obey it.
20:18:31 he said almost rhymes and technically if it were used in a couplet with staples and maple syrup somewhere in the middle it would (technically) qualify as internal rhyme, where the rhyme comes from the center of the word.
I see your 14 years for a tech to come out and raise you a tech coming out when you're on the toilet knock once then go, "They tried, no one came to the door!" when you call back and ask why the tech hasn't showed up yet. I live in apartment building, so unless you knock multiple times I will assume it's for a neighbor and not risk the UTI for rushing to check the door, plus stranger danger and all that!
I always check my change for coins with high silver or copper content, as they are worth more than stated value. Some pennies can be worth $5 (USD) depending upon year.
I always found American and to an extent Canadian manufacturer warranty situation funny. In EU you get consumer protection legislation or Consumer Law, that essentially states that if you buy a product, manufacturing defects should be covered eother by the manufacturer or the seller. This legislation overrides the manufacturer warranty and provides you with a minimum of 2 years, in some countries 3 and in some other cases more (Finland has a lifetime Consumer protection).

Movie theaters must be pretty easy to embezzle. I worked @ movie theater in the late 1980's and that appeared to be a chronic problem. A very beloved manager worked @that theater for over a decade (long before I worked there, but I still heard about him). The theater was profitable so it wasn't until he became suddenly I'll that it was discovered that he had been embezzling all along. The idiot manager I had was suddenly found to have continued the "tradition" when his female assistant manager (who, quite frankly, did most of the real work) was suddenly promoted to being the manager of her own theater (the first woman to break that company's management glass ceiling) and that promted an automatic audit.
If you ever need to see if your digital scale is operating correctly at the hundredths level, set it to gramm, set 2 decimal points, place penny and check for the known weight of the penny (differences in currencies, so look up the actual weight of your penny).
Last story - Orange loving trucking company. This company is not forgiving no understanding. 1 accident and you are gone no matter who is at fault. I know this as my friend (may he R.I.P.) did have an accident but with weather related influence and unfamiliarity with the area. Still think the driver of the other vehicle was at least as responsible.
Dog should be leashed, attached to something, or inside an enclosed area? Uh, no. City dwellers need to learn dogs should roam a bit when they go out and come home. If you don't like dog crap in your yard, live in an HOA nightmare area with a no dogs rule or fence YOUR yard in. In the country, we know our neighbors dogs, they come over if they hear or see us outside to say hello, get some pets then go back home. You don't just be neighborly with the people, you be a good neighbor to their whole family.
Banks can take the pennies thing even farther now.. most banks ive been to wont take over $25 in coin in any way other than on consignment.. meaning you dont get paid for it until they actually send it to someone else
Many of these work stories sound like they come from people who wish to become unemployed. Either that, or they are fake. I am inclined to believe the latter. Also, it is completely unacceptable to expect someone to turn over an id, credit card, etc. without securing it. Identity theft is a real thing.

I'm sorry I'm so old that I don't remember exact details. I remember I think it was Junior high where the lunch cashier raised hell with me for not having exact change or something similar to that. My malicious compliance I got pennies for the exact change for my lunch😂. Granted it was less than $5 but 400 and some Penny's is a pain in tuchis. 90% sure I brought a $10 bill the day before😢
Heavy load in the pickup truck. Shock absorbers do not limit compression or load limit. The only time shock absorbers limit anything is if you lift up your vehicle it keeps the axle from falling down. Too much load would sit down on the overload springs or overload pad. Eliminating all suspension movement.

Story 8 with the repair - it was prob short due to being from Amazon. A lot of sellers only give a 1 month warranty unless you buy an extended one.
A body double video ❤️❤️❤️ I will get so much done at work tomorrow!
“Naval Surplus"=“Maple Syrup”
In Germany it's 2 Years Garantie, but you have to proof you didn't trash it after 6 Months
31:52 I agree with what you said, but also on most vaccums the hose that sucks the dirt into the bag or chamber detaches so you can use to get cobwebs
The only jobs that will be safe if we go into a major depression will be clerking in a tobacco or liquor store. People are going to do whatever they have to to get their smokes and booze, even make their kids go hungry!
Most likely a typo, it would have been more normal for a kid in the ‘80’s to make $3/hour.
Anyone tell you that you and r/slash have almost identical voices
'scuse me while I go get vocal cord surgery...
Most cities and counties have a must be moved in 48 hours ordinance.

The courtesy clerk deserved reprimand, I don’t even understand how that’s malicious compliance, that’s just a kid being a dickhead to authority or quote “a great boss”
Good evening
My father a man that wore suits to work. A doctor of veterinary medicine and a doctor of epidemiology when hassled repeatedly about a hat that he wore during the winter had this to say.
yes Ron I have two of them want to shite in and wanted to cover it up. I come by my civil disobedience genetically.😅
I use these for sleeping
The shirt one wasn’t malicious compliance. That’s just OP being a butt. Being asked to where the company shirt wasn’t evil or abusive.
College/university food services have to have odd start/end times so students can work between classes.
Maybe you should be appropriately dressed whet you go out to let your dog out. You can get up to let your dog out but you take HOURS to pick up after it? You're in the wrong.
It's better then 1 professor I had who did the same thing but didn't use the textbook
Re: ethics/textbook..It’s standard!
Oo hello channel ive never seen before
Having been traveling the world in the 1980s, I can name 20 to 30 different nations that'd be paying $13 an hour to 13 year olds. All of them so poor/overinflated economy that $13.00 would be equivalent to 1980s $5.15 Minimum Wage.
Good stories but I really don't wanna hear your commentaries after each one, if you just moved onto each new story after finishing one, that'd be great, thanks 😄❤️
Plenty of channels out there to choose from. Feel free to find another that suits you!
How about “Naval Surplus”
I the US you can pay however you want. Refusal to accept payment erases the debt.
Maple Syrup rhymes with Office Depot, probably.
I always check my change for coins with high silver or copper content, as they are worth more than stated value. Some pennies can be worth $5 (USD) depending upon year.
Story 27: Maybe that $13/hour was not dollars but some other currency.
In New Zealand I was being in paid time and a half on a Saturday so it's possible
It doesn't exist now
I always found American and to an extent Canadian manufacturer warranty situation funny. In EU you get consumer protection legislation or Consumer Law, that essentially states that if you buy a product, manufacturing defects should be covered eother by the manufacturer or the seller. This legislation overrides the manufacturer warranty and provides you with a minimum of 2 years, in some countries 3 and in some other cases more (Finland has a lifetime Consumer protection).
in this compilation, story 37, as soon as was mentioned, big orange rigs i knew it was Schneider national my father used to drive for them (the big orange skateboards) lol ... i know that any truck drivers would understand that last part ... lol
I can't hear any sound, can anyone else?
I Can’t even get it to play.
No sound
So weird, I'm getting audio on PC but not on mobile....
I thought it was my digital ineptitude!
Have sound on mobile
And E4 at 30. ?.... They would not tell you do not carry your phone with you.... The rule is You are not on your phone in transit... The same as you do not smoke a cigarette In transit... That means while you're walking... That story was Ridiculous.... US navy dependent over half my life.. This grandma says much love
I live in some apartments that were built in the 70s. And they only have one internet provider, and of course it's the most expensive one
The limits on change payments in canada are par with the roll of coin value
I've be subscribed for a long time already, so Karen is never going to win hehehe
1:50:51Where is the link to the bmw driver story?
Dog should be leashed, attached to something, or inside an enclosed area? Uh, no. City dwellers need to learn dogs should roam a bit when they go out and come home. If you don't like dog crap in your yard, live in an HOA nightmare area with a no dogs rule or fence YOUR yard in. In the country, we know our neighbors dogs, they come over if they hear or see us outside to say hello, get some pets then go back home. You don't just be neighborly with the people, you be a good neighbor to their whole family.
Look. The “petite” four is kinda getting under my skin
Story 28. You mentioned a link to the comment for the bmw post. Where is it?
Banks can take the pennies thing even farther now.. most banks ive been to wont take over $25 in coin in any way other than on consignment.. meaning you dont get paid for it until they actually send it to someone else
Many of these work stories sound like they come from people who wish to become unemployed. Either that, or they are fake. I am inclined to believe the latter.
Also, it is completely unacceptable to expect someone to turn over an id, credit card, etc. without securing it. Identity theft is a real thing.
Story 28: where is the link you said youd post? :(
Stealing this line: "Ignorance can be educated, crazy can be medicated, but there's just no cure for stupid."
Work? Yep
Driving? Nope as I ain’t got a license.
Heck of a lot of time? Yep I work part time so time is something I have in spades.
Is there a time where theres no new stories like a dry season
KCC, RWBY is pronounced "ruby"
No. Requiring a book you profit from is capitalism. There are no ethics there.
That and this are separate entities.
I may have the answer. Petit fours are from france. I wonder if that was 13 francs in the late 80s. Translation
This channel has some great stories. I believe you would have many more subscribers if you change the narrator To someone that has a much less annoying voice.
Rude much
Don't want to be mean. Honestly, I resisted listening to this channel for a while. I've burned through most of rslash so am trying this channel again. The cadence is very unusual. The timing and the odd inflection is quite offputting. It is a very unnatural way of speaking.
I was getting paid up to $14.00 per hour in the 1980's ........ Australia. that was back when we had a 40 hour week and not the 36 hour week we have now.
1:49:57 No there isn't a link below for any of the OP's? 😭
Damn, I just listened to my 80's music playlist (don't ask) and just now realized your named similar to a Culture Club song. I feel really dumb.
Intentional 😉
Switzerland would be a good place or any obscure rich country in europe
