Hey guys, so like I said already my phone is exactly like the video, and I did everything in my power to Fix it, especially because I do not have insurance or warranty and I can’t afford to buy a new phone (student problems aka being broke asf. Lol😩) so I can’t replace my phone any time soon, so I had to find a temporary fix, and that my friends is “ WIRELESS HEADPHONES”. If you have wireless head phones you can still call ppl, receive calls, and Siri etc. well I I hope that gives you some hope especially if you can’t afford to replace your phone right away.

This is a problem with the audio chip on the motherboard. To fix this u need to let replace the audio chip on the motherboard it's a comment problem for the iPhone 7 and 7 plus.

Yep same thing happened infact I downloaded the update version 12.1.4 and after that my mic suddenly stopped working. Between updates 11-12 something has gone terribly wrong. I have read several forums majority all iPhone 7 users and posts made within recent two months 2019. Note how everyone’s comments are from either January February 2019 yet apple are certain this isn’t a hardware issue. I paid cash for my phone 7 plus have always been happy with apple iPhone but guess they really screwed up something on this one. Looks like we all better ring up apple great stuff

Same thing just happened to me on my 7 plus. It happened right after I did the update. Apple said it was a hardware issue and it would be $349 to get a replacement excluding taxes. Ridiculous because my phone was working up until update so why should I have to pay for it?

My iPhone 7 wasn’t working because the screen was freezing last year so instead of replacing it I got a Samsung galaxy 9. Well the other day a freak accident broke it so I busted out my iPhone and put my chip in and it worked. I was so happy so I did the updates and now the microphone isn’t working. I’m so mad I thought it was me. But it appears to be the update. Which apple wont admit to. Great😩
I had the same issue, still having the same issue. it's a piece of brick now and I was forced by Apple pushing an IOS update overnight, on the second morning I lost microphone. Apple said my phone is out of warranty and refused to fix it (didn't even try because it takes forever for the phone to turn on). They said the same, I need to pay $300 something for a replacement. Isn't that some shit? like I wanted to upgrade my iOS to a shitty version with a "loop disease"? it's a perfect condition phone and now it lost its very basic function - making phone calls. Still no solution yet.

Yeah only way to fix it is for Apple to replace chip on motherboard. If you want to learn to do that then go to a repair video. This is just a video about what happened and how I got it resolved.

It's in the video. The only way to fix this problem is to get Apple to repair phone or replace it. The chip on motherboard is destroyed with the heat caused by update.

They did not charge me anything. It was a out of warranty repair done because the update kills the microphone chip on the board on some units.

You are correct it's a bad solder point on a chip. Update just puts alot if heat into motherboard, and will sometimes show weaknesses

Try Bluetooth earbuds. I have used a cheap set from Amazon and it got me through.
