I love mt. Apatite. I'm so glad seeing you and your boy had a heat time. It's such a great place to dig.

I went there with my family last summer. We used some classifying screens to sort the dirt and we found a couple little green tourmalines!

My wife and I spent a morning there in October '21. We came home with some smokey quartz, lots of mica some apatite and some tiny garnets that have to be dug out of some rock. It was a long walk back to the truck with a heavy bucket. But being from Iowa, we had to take a bunch cause we won't get much of a chance to be back.

A lot of what you found is smoky quartz, and that thicker piece of black you were talking about did indeed look like black tourmaline. The green might very well be jade or jadeite, due to the area you're in, and the other minerals surrounding it.
