I've been using a Brook adapter with X360/One/Series X. I couldn't get it to work at first but I plugged the 2.4ghz adapter into the Brook adapter and switched the stick to X-Input/2.4ghz modes and it works perfectly.
I actually tried to add my new Seimitsu Bullet Nobi lever to this today and it was too thick to fit inside. I'm a little bummed because that lever feels so damn nice! Way better than any stock Sanwa I've used. It has shorter throw, more tactile clicks (but not louder), and a non-rotating shaft, which I like a lot for fighting games.
I always thought thats what they were going for originally... but I feel like I only ever heard people say no its doo not doh after Nintendo went after them for their design and logo they were using a few years ago.
you can get an adapter to make this work with Xbox or PS from Brook and I think another brand but I forgot the name but Brook for sure makes both adapters.
I have the Brook Wingman XB and it works perfectly with the arcade stick (and other controllers including Pro 2 and Dual Shock 4 that I tested). I simply popped the 2.4 ghz dongle into the adaptor, plug the adaptor into the xbox, then turn on the stick and you're good to go.
I really like mine. I also have the Victrix Pro FS, but I end up using this instead because it's so convenient. I will say that it's more of a table top stick than a lap stick because it's kind of small and there are only 4 small pads to prevent slipping. I 100% recommend it, though.
@@FranktheTank319 I think the Mayflash is a tiny bit smaller than this. But yeah I want that wireless convience. Although it's not as customizable as the Mayflash because it has the spot to put in different art if you want.
@@agentorange8530 Yeah, I like that aspect of customization. I didn't really think about that before I bought mine, so it's a bit of a let down, but it looks cool and its got a ton of cool features. I just wish my seimitsu stick fit inside it. It's a little too big for the case, unfortunately.
@@agentorange8530 i think the NES theme is why I bought it. And I love it because it's so convenient. I use it on my pc and my switch. It is a little tippy, though. When I'm gaming, sometimes I notice it tipping towards me a little bit if I'm really heavy handed.
I think this stick would be fine for professional use but the problem is it's not heavy enough. So when I'm in a grab or dazed or something the stick actually comes off the table and is like smacking against the table up and down while i'm shaking the stick to get out of the hold. I've never had that happen before.. Also the stick that comes with it seems to fail a lot of times performing the inputs for special moves.. like I know my hand motions and I have the muscle memory burned into my muscles.. The stick this comes with kind of sucks.. I dunno what it is about it. I think I'm gonna replace it with a Sanwa stick, coz the Razer Panthera I used to have (so great that Razer replaced it with some weird ass arcade stick that doesn't have a joystick).. But I want to use Happ buttons coz I'm from the US and we never had the Sanwa buttons here.. They're not bad but I want the authentic arcade experience. I think that it definitely needs to be heavier.
when you push your new lever to any direction, does it have extra travel after you hear the click? cause that's killing me on the OG lever of the 8BitDo (mainly the reason why professionals don't use this stick)
Yes there's a small extra movement after the click, but I've seen worse Hayabusa and Sanwa sticks in this aspect (i.e. it's not excessive). I, too, prefer no extra movement however. You can try with oversized actuators to reduce it... I'll test soon the 1.5mm oversized actuator.
Oh nice dude, I'm doing something very similar! Going full custom parts, but, pretty much all Sanwa! I didn't know it was wireless though thats pretty slick! Dude, that detachable joystick is so SICK! WTF :O
Further info, when I was multimetering my 8bit do stick. It seemed like they were key scanning (the voltage value was floating around even without touching the button). so socd's are gonna have trouble if you try to change to mixbox buttons.
I've been playing Street Fighter since the first one was new and I own a SFIV pro arcade stick which is normally my favorite fightstick but my stock 8BitDo fightstick is by far my best fightstick for pulling off any moves in fight games. I was shocked when I first tried. I won't even mod it cause it's perfect as is for me.
I'm looking at this years later after it came out just owning it and are keen on modding this a shot regardless if it's going to be competitive or not! i'll try regardless haha

Hello, I like your content. Have you found a solution to use the 8Bitdo Arcade stick on PC Engine mini, Super Nes mini, Megadrive mini? Thanks for reading me
You are correct with the pronunciation. Their Chinese name (which obviously came first) has the same last kanji character as Nintendo, and they are definitely trying to mimic the Nintendo name.
The mounting plate fits everything but the height of the case makes it so almost no other stick than a JLF will fit without hitting the bottom of the case. They removed sticks that they originally said would fit from their list and I tried sticks that are still supposed to fit and they still won't work without dremmeling the bottom of the case to make a few more millimeters of clearance. I honestly don't think they attempted to swap in any of the sticks they originally said would fit and just figured that the plate fits everything so they put them on the list as compatible. They had an IL stick being listed as compatible early on and there is no way that thing would ever even come close to fitting in this. Also the clearance on the buttons to so close to the pcb's that there is no way to get screw in buttons so you are limited to snap in only and if you use seimetsu snap ins it won't let them lock in all the way so they can pop out. This is not nearly as moddable as they make it. They joystick it comes with is aweful, the buttons are decent though. If you get this swap it with a JLF as that fits easily and then its a good stick. Just don't expect to put all sorts of different buttons and sticks in this, its basically ultra moddable if you are putting in Sanwa parts only.
I'm planning on making the retro stick. I just need to figure out how many buttons I need for Saturn games. I have a Mortal Kombat one for those modern systems.
For saturn you can be mostly fine with 6 buttons plus one for start... But really should be 8 buttons for abc xyz and L R shoulders plus one for start, then an extra for select if possibly going to use for other retro systems.
Yes, like I responded to someone else... square gate, octo gate, circle gate... none of that matters. The gate you use is all subjective and up to personal preference. A restrictor gate creates a wall and thats it... You can register microswitches without ever touching the gate. It doesnt magically improve your performance in Street Fighter for example. You can be used to any gate that doesnt block a switch. A square gate is my preference a lot of times, especially for many older fighting games its fine for me. I have a box of octo gates and have used them plenty. Ive been building sticks and modding out premade sticks for well over 20 years and don't care for the feel of an octo gate most of the time. It may be a crutch for some with half circle movements and they prefer it, but like I said... dont need to use the gate to register switch presses, so its all what you are comfortable with.
I love this stick, but I had imagined the software side to be more like what the next sn30pro will get. The feet are btw some of the best. The rubber is just more sticky on a table than any Madcatz or Hori I own.
I know for sure a SUZO HAPP wont fit as I have HAPP sticks, IL Euro sticks I believe are just as big on the underside though I dont currently have one to check... but id be pretty sure it wont fit.
We haven't seen anyone use these because tournaments been canceled all throughout 2020 and the beginning of 2021. Also, if it isn't PS4 compatible, don't think we'll see anyone using these unless they're using a Brook's converter or universal pcb mod inside.

I just installed some snap-in Sanwa buttons like you did in this video... My connections are definitely not as tight as they were on the stock buttons. Is this okay?
🕹️🕹️🕹️Yo Mad!!, I want to replace the joystick in my Pandora's box for an Ikari Warrior style rotating joystick. Do you have a link to someone that has an exact drop in assembly so I can play those types of "move and twist" games? Also can you make a simple video on how to install the 12 way rotary joystick? Thanks man.
You think there will be a ps5/series x version. I don't think i want to play much on the switch. I guess those brook adapters will do. but with the cost of a tiny bit of lag. maybe idk for sure. Will prob pick one up for PC use. My other quality stick is pretty big. This one is more smaller.
please test this arcade stick by connecting it to an original SNES/SFC, SNES/SFC mini, original Sega MD/Genesis by bluetooth using 8BitDo's bluetooth adapters? Thank you.
Professional fighting game players are probably not using this stick. There is typically a strict restriction on anything that's wireless. Great stick though!
@@Madlittlepixel Yeah. Iono, ity's been years for me since I was part of the FGC, but they are typically leery even of sticks that can connect via USB like that too. Imagine a high level, high stakes level being paused due to a UBS cable disconnecting at the base of the stick/controller. That type of thing.
Why? I mean I like Hyabusa buttons, and have some extras but beyond using them in the sticks Hori makes I don't really have much desire of putting them into other sticks. They do fit, but I don't see the point of changing to another set of buttons I don't typically use often.
Well I mean this wasnt a video testing buttons of various types it was modding it how I want it. Hori makes fine products, but Id never put their buttons into anything honestly. I have tons of Sanwa's, Seimitsu, Suzo Happ buttons and depending on the feel I want I typically go with those. I only have extra Hyabusa buttons from taking them out of Hori sticks and swapping them. I think those buttons stock are fine for the most part but I wouldn't order them separately to use them in a non hori stick.
@@Madlittlepixel Well, there have been complaints by arcade stick users saying that sanwa buttons ore oversensitive. Same goes for the hayabusa levers. Sanwa levers and hayabusa buttons are SENSITIVE, but not oversensitive.
Still doesn't offer a huge amount of modding ability; clearance of bottom plate, proximity of buttons to PBCs (preventing screw-in buttons)... there's quite a few issues with modding this stick, which is really unfortunate as I wanted to buy one.
Another one, they soldered the wires to the spade connectors on the original joystick, so if you wanted to replace the joystick with traditional microswitches you would need to cut or desolder the wires then solder the connectors on or crimp your own connectors onto the wires. They went out of their way to use easily swappable connectors for the buttons, so why not the joystick?
That was my original complaint with this stick was how the stick was wired, which limits it quite a bit for many people. But yeah the clearance and types of buttons that can be used are very limited... So not really the ultimate easy moddable stick, when there are plenty others you can do more with. But its still nice for what it is and the stock price.
I really don't understand some peoples' obsession with screw in buttons. They're typically used on large arcade cabinets, and not arcade sticks like this anyway.
Because the gate isnt that important and if people think you need a specific gate to play like Street Fighter better thats false, its all what you are comfortable using. Restrictor gates all come down to personal preference and is a highly subjective thing. Ive been building my own arcade sticks for 20+ years and have used em all. Octo gate i may feel better with on somethings but a square gate I just prefer most the time. Whatever you are comfortable using~ *one point that should be noted is you dont need to hit the wall of a restrictor date to trigger the switch, some people may be grinding their sticks doing quarter circle motions and feel better using an octo gate, however you do it is cool I suppose.
Changing out the stick and buttons aren't my main concern I just hate how hollow and noisy this baby is when I'm button bashing and my wife is trying to sleep (I've just purchased some foam washers to dampen the button presses) I'm sure someone has tried to (but I cant see any videos or too many articles about this) fill the inside of the arcade stick with foam like a keyboard to dampen the sound. Imagine if you could make a thocky arcade stick. That would be glorious!
I use this thing for Ninja Turtles and Cuphead. Works great for fast paced action packed sidescrollers but probably not ideal for a fighter game like Marvel Vs Capcom.
It does depending on what stick you want to use. Since 8bitdo decided to solder all the wired from the harness to the stock stick if you are going to use something that uses similar connections you are either desoldering, clipping, adding quick disconnects yourself or soldering cables.
Regarding the pronunciation of 8bitDo... I agree with you. 8bitDOE is more logical, because NintenDOE. I know the Bluetooth Speaker says DOO, as does the company CEO.... but then again the guy who came up with the GIF file type says it's a soft G, not a hard G, which isn't logical because the G stands for Graphic, which starts with a hard G. Sometimes I think people in the position of authority just aren't applying logic to these kind of decisions.
@@IllegalPriest Look up the Mister Input Lag spreadsheet lots of testing done. Razer or Qanba are good off the shelf choices that are still available. The older 8bitdo stick is really good. The top tier stuff will require some kind of modding\wiring.

Dat stick Do! ^__- Same here brotha, I can't say it different now.
Thanks man.
I have a question ,Does the older 8bido arcade stick work with ps4 wireless ,im just wondering .
Nope
Do 28mm buttons work with this?
Hey, now do a mod that extends the palm rests so the stick is actually usable....
I'm thinking of getting one of these next
with the money spent on the stick and upgrade parts you could buy a used madcatz stick or just get the parts to build one from scratch
That is one good looking stick
You think there will be a ps5/series x version.
I don't think i want to play much on the switch.
I guess those brook adapters will do. but with the cost of a tiny bit of lag. maybe idk for sure.
Will prob pick one up for PC use. My other quality stick is pretty big. This one is more smaller.
What is the specific link for the detachable shaft ?
arcadeshock.com/products/phreakmods-the-link-ex-groove-edition?_pos=5&_sid=43f8b739c&_ss=r
There are different versions if you search for them
please test this arcade stick by connecting it to an original SNES/SFC, SNES/SFC mini, original Sega MD/Genesis by bluetooth using 8BitDo's bluetooth adapters? Thank you.
If they made a pure white version of this, with those blue buttons, it would look epic
Have you seen the Xbox version
It's actually has less mod option than most comercial sticks
Seems nice, but I don't like the plastic case. Why didn't they just put a metal face plate on it instead of metal in the base for weight..
Professional fighting game players are probably not using this stick. There is typically a strict restriction on anything that's wireless. Great stick though!
Well it can be used wired, but I still figured they wouldn't use it
@@Madlittlepixel Yeah. Iono, ity's been years for me since I was part of the FGC, but they are typically leery even of sticks that can connect via USB like that too. Imagine a high level, high stakes level being paused due to a UBS cable disconnecting at the base of the stick/controller. That type of thing.
Try installing some hayabusa buttons into your 8BitDo arcade stick.
Why? I mean I like Hyabusa buttons, and have some extras but beyond using them in the sticks Hori makes I don't really have much desire of putting them into other sticks. They do fit, but I don't see the point of changing to another set of buttons I don't typically use often.
@@Madlittlepixel To each their own.
@@TheRealDustinNunn try seimitsu components if they suit you better. It is very much up to personal preferences.
@@excessmaterial Why would they not want the option? If it works with more buttons there is a better chance it works with the ones people want to use.
Why choose a 4 way gate vs an 8 way?
That's still an eight way gate. You have to rotate it 45 degrees to make it a four way gate.
Wish they did a dual 2 player version like an X-Arcade
@HANZO nothing beats playing shoulder to shoulder
Does it work with playstation classic ????
I want blue parts those are nice!
Lmao, this is the funniest shit ever. I love watching your channel. Awesome joy stick color.
I have my cat around when I'm unscrewing stuff, he let's me know where the screw is at when I accidentally drop one.
If anyone has any info on whether or not this can work with the Super Console X Pro it would be appreciated!
What?!?!?!? I was told soldering was required to replace joystick?!?!
It does depending on what stick you want to use. Since 8bitdo decided to solder all the wired from the harness to the stock stick if you are going to use something that uses similar connections you are either desoldering, clipping, adding quick disconnects yourself or soldering cables.
Yoooo what are you doing with Link's shaft bro?
😮
Would be surperb if it could work with Astro City Mini
Thanks for the vid Ron. Always a good idea to have control of your balls especially when it tickles your taint.
What is the code for the detachable stick dude? Great work BTW!
This stick isn't a great fit for Mister. The input lag jumps around a lot.
Any suggestions on what is a good choice for a mister?
@@IllegalPriest Look up the Mister Input Lag spreadsheet lots of testing done. Razer or Qanba are good off the shelf choices that are still available. The older 8bitdo stick is really good. The top tier stuff will require some kind of modding\wiring.
@@IllegalPriest The USB Polling has to be set 1ms as well if you want those numbers. Not default settings.
Top buttons aren't start and select. Those are the macros.
Hi Pixel when are you going to get your Mits on These Emulation Devices to Review for us : Nvidia Shield Pro , Super Consol X Pro , Rauzen 4500U Handheld , AYA NEO , Super Consol X PC Supreme ... Would love to Hear your Options on these cause you always give it to is Straight 😼☕🍹
I dont have any connections to those companies to get one for review, and the Ryzen handhelds are out of my budget for review videos. The other stuff is a possibility for me to buy but something like the Shield Pro id really need to plan that out, that one has been of interest to me so youd probably see content with the Shield Pro before any of the other things you mentioned on my channel. Ill always see what I can do though.
@@Madlittlepixel Oh well see what you can do . Yea some of them are pricy Look forward to see whatever you get your mits on . You never know someone may send one for sponsored review .
i always call it 8Bit Do. Saying Doh makes me think of that meme
It's meant to be 'doh' as in how you pronounce Ninten(doh)
Someone took a ps1 controller to a tournament and won. I’m pretty sure you can win with a guitar hero guitar at this point
I am certainly the wrong guy for concrete answers seeing as how I have never been to a fighting game tournament however I am pretty sure this controller wouldn't be legal due to macro buttons on it but IDK
@Madlittlepixel you "Do" (pun intended) nail it brother!😂 Maybe somebody learned something... We are AMERICAN, not Rushin! Lmaooooo 🤣
