Ah, if only I could jump on the old broomstick to visit those amazing places! Love the sound of the rain, and those marvellous bottles are worth the sky juice! Thanks for another relaxing trip ❤️
Living in Southern California, I love listening to the rain. Wish I could feel it as well. Thank you for going out in the rain! So many wonderful bottles and stoneware too.
An amazing thing happened last evening. We had rain. It came with thunder and lighting. Quite a light show! Very rare occurrence here on the coast. Reminder me of the monsoon season in S.E. Arizona.
I always imagined our ancestors eating a more wholesome diet than us, yet it seems many of them were constipated. I wonder why. Lovely finds and brilliant research. Love the chunky glass lamp thing from the steam engine.
When I was younger, I read The Anabasis (sp?) Of Alexander (Alexander the Great) seems every time he was ill he was given a "physic". I asked my mom, she said, "Its a laxative". Sees the problem of "irregularity" is mired in the depths of mankind's ancient past.
It's because what they thought "good food" was is food that looked "good". For example, good bread was absolutely white, meaning they added things like chalk in it to be lighter. And there's worst ingredients in many recipes they had.
I always imagine children 100 years ago lining cod bottles up, throwing stones at them, or catapulting them to break them for the marbles. The glee they must have had collecting up the clay marbles to play with. If ONLY they could have got a penny to return the cod bottle! I remember taking back glass lemonade bottles for pennies…. Mmm showing my age.🙄 all the broken cod bottles shows they were commonplace and not deemed worth reusing, also if they were all broken in the same place (to get the marble) the marbles were good to play with and worth more than the bottle. I used to love playing marbles too. Thanks again for another delightful video. My little dose of Scottish air. Xxx
Wow! I can’t believe all of the beautiful intact bottles and stoneware you were able to find. It was well worth putting up with the rain. It made for a very happy day hope you got some well deserved tea when you got home. Great place to search.
Beautiful bottles under that tree!! You should bring grabbers for them. I have a great one for getting things I can’t reach from my wheelchair. It’s very light and the “fingers” are set very wide apart to accommodate cans and they have a silicone covering so they never slip. It would be really handy, though something extra to carry with you.
Every time you pass on a bottle or waffle, I’m beside myself - “Take it!!! Take it!!” But at some point, you are going to run out of room for your treasures. I have a couple of rooms you can use but they are just a few thousand miles too far for you…
While watching the video, I imagined Gail and Alex crooning : "We're larking in the rain 🎼 Just larking in the rain. 🎼 What a glorious feeling 🎼 We're happy again. 🎼 We're laughing at clouds 🎼 The sun's in our hearts 🎼 Ready for a lovely round-up." 🎼 🤣🤣
it's great to see a young teenage girl get so excited about a Veno cough bottle on a treasure hunt not only that but to delve into the history of the bottle and the company founders well done mum
Ladies you are devoted to your search and are to be admired for your tenacity. The information you share with us is as priceless as the treasures you recover. Thank you for sharing your time and excursions with your subbies.
That would be amazing if that glass ring is from a steam engine... It seems more likely to be from a small oil lamp. I love steam locomotives etc! That mini stoneware ointment is gorgeous! I found a broken Whittaker jam pot too nearby to me, but I need to go back and have a thorough scrape about 🤔 you guys really do have the best dumpsites!
here in the upper country side of Northeast PA it is raining and I have the honor of gazing upon you both getting soaked in your rain and I thought to myself we are not that far away on this big blue marble. lt is a truly a pleasure to watch you both within your beautifully edited footage expertly adding of complimentary music. I love your content always ladies you both are absolutely informative and adventurous women!! Thank you for this chance to learn more history through finds from the past disguarded trash now treasures 💕
The patter of the rain has completely relaxed me. Maybe I can sleep tonight. FRI, OCT 8TH, 2021 @ 8:48PM. My son turned 55 today and Ive been remembering. Thank you for such awsome videos.
I like the variety of treasures you found. Especially the cat head. When you picked it up, I thought it might be interesting to fit it to a cork to use as a bottle stopper. A bottle with a cat head...too crazy? I loved the stoneware like Alex did. I love them much more than bottles! A really nice day!
It sounded as if the rain was applauding Gail when she found the little hand. 😊 Such beautiful finds! And the colour of the bottles is just gorgeous. 😍
I am so addicted to both of you lovely ladies. I am of Scottish decent but born in the states . I live vicariously through you. I enjoy the history and just everything . I am a crafter bead lover . Treasure hunter although there is nothing remotely resembling places of such richness as your homeland ..unfortunately. I have drawn scenes of your journeys . Made my own clay pipes and the little cottages as well. I hope one day to Lard Along side the pair of you. Your soul sister in Calif.
Aw, thank you so much! How amazing that you have made your own clay pipes and little cottages! Lard, hehe - we are always saying and typing things wrong, lol. Knew what you meant, thought xx
What a nice episode to watch! Unexpected weather, unexpected story about the two little boys who broke glass bottles to get to the codd marbles. A tragic story, but interesting none the less! I'm also very curious about the mudlarking stash that must be inside your beautiful home, maybe we can have a sneakpeek someday?? Fingers crossed and thank you for yet another nice video Gail and Alex! Have a nice day ;) xx
Awww you must not have kept that little deer platter. I Love that you figured out the glass tube..Gail's research ability is 2nd to None! The story of the Children was so sad. I've been binge watching your videos which is a treasure within itself ❤❤
I was having a panic attack but I watched this and the combined sounds of the rain, music and your lovely voices have calmed me a bit. I still have a way to go, but I’m on the right track x
I'm partial to the lovely button. The snail 🐌 was loving the rain. Gail great research! How is brown schwoo? The video is done well even when you shook. That was a satisfied lark well worth going back to hunt when the weeds die back this winter. I take the old clear bottles and fill them with food dye water making sure that they have strong new corks and put them on a window sill to make a rainbow shine into the house. Thanks for a great time. Blessings
Lovely video as usual and going out in the rain bless you, loved the beads, but most of all I'm with Gail that little tiny stone ware gorgeous. Always love to see a pipe pulled out so enjoyed that, and so many aqua bottles thanks for sharing 👍
The display at the end of your video was amazing they just were spectacular looking there it's like art set out if they never moved from there they still be beautiful.
That dump had gifts-a-plenty awaiting your arrival. I truly enjoyed listening to the dripping droplets of wetness, as you wove your way through the foliage. Thank You for being the Treasure Troopers that you are (not that you would let a little weather stop you Lol.) As sweet as both of you Ladies are, you won't melt in the rain, I'm glad to say. I appreciate the background history you share about the found objects, so much history about random finds that we would never know if you didn't find, research and share with us. Thank You. Always Thoroughly Enjoy your inserts of wildlife and landscape scenes, as well as music that soothes and inspires the soul. You Are Wonderful! : )
Wow! A cracking tip lark with finds we would walk 500 miles for, we love those beautiful small bottles👍 Thank you for sharing Best Wishes Julie and Mark New Romney ⭐️⭐️⭐️👍⭐️⭐️⭐️
so impressive to find the background for your large glass bead ! thanks for a lovely video ladies, noting the rain and your dedication, you could cry with the way the children suffered ....
Alex, typically ginger jar lids are domed. What your lid made me think of was a mustard pot -- maybe the coloration and the yellow swooshes made it so.
Such a great dump site...all the stoneware and bottles are beautiful...the cat head, the doll head, the hand and the leg are what I LOVE TO SEE YOU MAKE THINGS FROM! The steam engine part...so interesting. So much history. And the color of the bottles amazed me. The sheer top is different. Thank you for the rain soaked trip. You have valiant hearts. Beautiful research.
Love watching you and your daughter..makes me appreciate my daughters and there help...let's me know family is most important no matter what part of this earth you live on
Was worth braving the rain for all the bottles and that little earthenware pot. Was a little treasure trove by the looks of that dump. Lovely video thank you xc
Your random white glazed square tile, is a ceramic bathroom fitting and would have been used on a sink or bath to blank off a tap hole. Most places only had one tap on the sink providing cold water, but many sinks, especially later ones, were provided with two tap holes. I can remember seeing some of these in the sculleries of old houses.and even into 1930's era. The larger of the two salt glazed pots is possibly Topp's Furniture Cream. I once found a bottle with the remains of a green label still in-situ. Great finds and a great day out for you both.
Just watched on the TV. What a lovely little place. All those beautiful colored bottles just waiting for you . Pity it was raining so much but I suppose you can go back on a dry day . Happy larking ❤
Oh those poor little boys! I hope their adult lives were better than their childhood. Thanks so much for the research, it must be quite time consuming. Beautiful bottles! I love the inks and the pressed glass button is a beauty! Great video 😀 x
I love the button and I can't get enough of the doll heads. The sound of the rain is AMAZING! We've had rain once, no, twice so far this entire year. Soooooo dryyyyy.....
I hope you took that green bottle. I love to watch you and your mom . I don't know how to do you tube so I would not have to worry about the rain or umbrella . I would just get in the dirt. Thanks for taking me along on your adventure.
How interesting, but sad.😢Wondering what happened to the boys afterwards? But you did snag a lovely lot of bottles! and I love the purple button! Hugs from Virginia!
Dear lovely Northern Mudlarking Ladies. 👍👌👏Fantastic finds, Congrats! Before I do my usual and long commenting, I simply have to ask: What happened to the shard with the beautiful deer decor? And what happened to the tile? 2) Haven't you found at least 3 riffled glass ink wells? Thanks in advance for enlighten me. Best regards, luck and health.
Loved listening to the rain and the birds singing and what beautiful bottles, amazing condition and colour. Thank you, a lovely relaxing way to end what was a busy Monday😊
What a worthwhile trip rain or not. You got a great collection of a cute variety of shapes and sizes and they all cleaned up nicely. What a great spot! ❤️
That tiny stoneware was gorgeous. And so many small, cute, beautiful bottles. Love seeing the light shining through the glass after you have cleaned them
Hi there, as always it’s great to see you both, such rainy weather but you managed it. I love all the bottles you found, such a sad story about the two young boys, I hope their lives changed for the better. I so like the pressed glass button, I just like collecting buttons. Thank you for a lovely video, 🐌☔️❤️
Sad story about the boys, but I am sure they were eating and were clean and still alive at least living at the Penitentiary they were sentenced to. I just adore the history you tell us about the bottles and other items you find. Thank you 😊
What a wonderful dump and an awesome haul despite the drippy weather. I would love to see a video of your collection (s). Maybe that could be a winter project! Keep warm!
Water and electronics do not mix well. Wonderful time, can't thank you enough for the work you put into each video. I guess no wildflowers this year. Remember last year they were amazing.
I just love all of the bottles they are amazing, pipe bits are so cool, A dolls head is on my bucket list, Alex and Gail Thank you for another awesome and informative video, Cheers until next week❤️🇨🇦
Although you both got soaking wet the noise of the rain pitter pattering on the floor is lovely, love the aqua bottles ☺️🤗
Yes, that dark aqua is beautiful xx
Ah, if only I could jump on the old broomstick to visit those amazing places! Love the sound of the rain, and those marvellous bottles are worth the sky juice! Thanks for another relaxing trip ❤️
Can't believe there can be more bottle dumps with old bottles just lying out - for me it's like a miracle:)
This is exactly what i was thinking . What marvelous places to hunt at. We have nothing like that here in Kansas.
Also nothing like that here in the Netherlands.
If there was any, they are tidied up.
I know that there is one (bottle) dump left, but that's all.
In Germany you can find old TV's, Plastic, rusty Metal und the biggest Problem, old Wheels :-(
We have them in New England but nothing as big as the ones these ladies go to
Living in Southern California, I love listening to the rain. Wish I could feel it as well. Thank you for going out in the rain! So many wonderful bottles and stoneware too.
We live in Western Colorado and crave the rain as well. The sound is so luscious!
An amazing thing happened last evening. We had rain. It came with thunder and lighting. Quite a light show! Very rare occurrence here on the coast. Reminder me of the monsoon season in S.E. Arizona.
Those POOOR STARVING CHILDREN !!! 😢😢😢 How BLESSED WE ARE and how THANKFUL WE SHOULD BE !!! ❤
Those pictures of the children broke my heart! Poor little blokes. Beautiful bottle haul though. Thanks for taking me along :)

Thank you! Seems a lot of people had a poor diet xx
I believe they didn’t drink enough water either; due to lack of clean drinking water.
Maybe out ancestors didn’t want to eat their veggies either!? 😂
It's because what they thought "good food" was is food that looked "good". For example, good bread was absolutely white, meaning they added things like chalk in it to be lighter. And there's worst ingredients in many recipes they had.
oh my gosh, i want to hear more about the boys, how did they turn out🤔 so sad. I hope they end up having a good life. awesome finds🤗 christy

It's either from a drip oiler or a miner's safety lamp - although miner's lamp glass is usually narrower. The glass is too thick for a normal lamp xx
@@NorthernMudlarks some old stationary diesel engines had a drip oiler too I think!

Such a lovely film and lovely finds. The sounds of the birdsong and raindrops make it extra special.
The small white soap looking slate was an airpod case for early caveman. Great video keep them coming 🧐
It sounded as if the rain was applauding Gail when she found the little hand. 😊
Such beautiful finds! And the colour of the bottles is just gorgeous. 😍
I thought so too!!
Decent haul and you got that poor kitty outta the rain...awww.
