I’m glad someone talked about monster house because I had so many nightmares when I was young and it still pops up every once and awhile now

I clutched my heart when you mentioned being in middle school when It Chapter One came out. I feel so ancient! LOL In all seriousness, I have been terrified of clowns going back as far as I can remember. My mom said it started when she left the room while I was watching TV. The next thing she knew, I was screaming and she ran in and found me cowering in fear over a clown on the TV screen.
In regard to Stranger Things, I completely agree with your opinion that what we don't see is far more frightening than an actual monster. There are so many shows and films that make the mistake of putting a creature in the spotlight.
I'm an old school Doctor Who fan - having discovered the series on PBS in the mid-1980s -and the Weeping Angels are the most effectively scary monsters to come out of the new series. They scared my nephew Brian half to death, and I could never get him to watch Doctor Who after that. Doctor Who is often at its best when it combines horror and sci-fi. It's one of the many reasons Tom Baker's first three seasons are held in such high regard. Weeping Angel Tag sounds awesome!
Your enjoyment of The Haunting of Hill House and Mike Flanagan's other work inspires me to recommend Dark Shadows, the Gothic/Horror/Soap Opera that ran on ABC from 1966-1971. The show might seem tame by today's standards, but the stories stand the test of time with many of the plotlines being lifted from horror literature. Dark Shadows influenced a great number of films, television shows, and writers like Stephen King. The 2012 Tim Burton movie based on the series did not do it justice.
I've never heard of I'm Thinking of Ending Things before. I'll have to check that one out.
The first movie I can recall legit scaring me was The Watcher in the Woods, which was one of the rare times Disney attempted to make a horror film. The imagery as well as Bette Davis's performance have stayed with me to this day.
Thanks for another enjoyable video, Collin!
