To keep things in perspective this many boxes would be around 2400 or more depending on where you buy. And if you wanna sell on eBay maybe you get 60% face value after shipping fees and undercutting. Make money Yes but not as much as it would seem.
@@brendonford3838 I sold 90% of double masters 2020 in a week and we netted 60% profit after shipping and fees during the pandemic. We only did 10 cases of draft though so maybe kind of small sample size. I did sit on all the good uncommons though like mishra's bauble and etc which was going for $2 / playset. Sold them a year later for 12 each and others like manamorphose for 3-7. We didn't speculate on any rares or mythics we just churned and burned.
It is very rare for a magic set to come out and have the potential for the public to make money at all. Kamigawa was the last time, before that was modern horizons 2, zendikar rising, and double masters in the last 2 years.
Should you not draw any conclusions about presale prices. No doubts this set is awesome and WOTC has done a great job delivering awesome arts on useful reprints. Still, the market will correct heavily as product gets opened, specially the ones that are not borderless foil IMHO
I have a feeling the etched cards will also be expensive considering there is only one per collector booster since you cannot get the etched elsewhere (and you can get borderless foils in draft packs).

Good points you two, I'm more interested in how many boxes of each were actually printed? I got 3 collectors plus one draft to keep and one draft to crack. I could already sell on an ok profit with how little I paid for all of them.

But for that, you'd prolly have better sectors to invest your money in. About the amount of boxes printed.. I'd say, enough. Here the company is the only one building to get the profit out of the market. Not the collector nor the investors. But well, this is dfly a good set, and if the 2020 mania comes back some time in the future you could potentially make a good deal selling this. The real question is, how many people have the same idea as you do and how many will be willing to pay the extra amount!
@@beno3686 very doubtful it craters, more likely it will stay the highest of all versions. It is the rarest version of the card since borderless foil and non-foils are in draft packs. Etched cards are exclusive to these collector packs.
I have watched the card values continuously drop over the last few days. The market will probably be flooded. Still would love to open some of these packs. Some amazing cards and beautiful art styles.
I've opened 2 Draft and 2 Collector Booster Boxes so far. The Draft boxes had a lot of good cards but nothing crazy, but each Collector Booster Box I opened had a Liliana, the Last Hope Textured Borderless Foil. I don't know what kind of crazy luck I have but I pulled one yesterday and one today. Not complaining, but I would have liked an Imperial Seal.
These collectors boosters will be easy money for someone looking to hold a year or two. If any modern box has a chance to get to $1000 this will be it!
But remember, one of wotc’s favorite things is to give you long-sought-after cards 2 sets in a row….bet something spicy gets reprinted from this in the next standard set.
Right, it's not mutually exclusive. Singles prices will go down significantly. But for each pack pulled the supply for sealed goes down and thus prices will rise.

I understand that the chance to get many times that value exists, but it's far more likely that you'll open 4 bulk rares that you won't even use worth $10-20. I'm even seeing normal draft boosters for $20+. Overall, for a new in print set, the cost is way to high to be accessible imo.
Collector is not a product made to be accessible… juste like a ferrari. I agree that for 70-80$ for a 15 cards pack is extremely high but yeah these boxes are for collector, those who are willing to pay extra for the fancy schmancy versions.
They sold out on vip booster packs for $100 ea last time. Now they come to market with a better product which doesn't have all the upshifted uncommons and bulk in the rare/mythic slots at 55 ea pre-order and 75 ea today. People will always complain until it's free.

WHAT IF…all the flashy variants maintain price and all the random commander reprints tank to absorb the difference? So the high rollers and Timmy’s can feed us commander players the other half of the stuff we were supposed to get in Baldur’s Gate.

This is an interesting thought. You could argue they make the tokens lighter to offset the texture foils. Pokemon uses white and black code cards to offset the weight of their big hits in modern as well.
back when there was only 1 holo in a pack you could weigh each pack in a box to find the holo, but my guess given the amount of holo's in every one of these packs probably not
Id bet the variance is too low to weigh the box and find out. The lack of shrink is what I think will be long time concerning. Rpobably have to sell as loose packs in the long term
The duplicate cards have been happening a lot in the last few sets. After watching this video, not too sure about the gimmicks they are using. There were some nice cards in it, some beautiful works of art but I’m not convinced that a pack is worth the price.
Part of me wonders if these boxes will age well. Near future? Yep. At this rate, 5 years from now will the cards even be relevant with the power creep and the card printers going brrrrr? There has to be wallet fatigue and more cards than the market can absorb at some point right? Right?
@@eggtimer2 I target Masters sets to sell singles. These last 3 masters sets have been amazing and those were 100% reprint sets. One thing to take into consideration is there are new magic players every year looking for reprints. When card prices on a staple (force of negation, wrenn and six, smother tithe, etc) drop 50 to 70% in price you get all kinds of buyers lining up. You have new to modern/commander players, boomers (like me) that don't have a certain card, brewers building new decks because they can afford to now, and speculaters that want 2-100 copies if its cheap enough. Last masters set we opened 40 draft boxes and 16 VIP boxes and sold 90% in a week. We made 60% profit and held all the good uncommons (mishra's bauble was 2/playset.)

I think the pool of cards that can come in the full extended/alternate art is much lower than the pool of all cards, and the collector packs guarantee a certain amount of full arts, so that's why you have a higher chance of duplicates. While it is strange to see duplicates in the same pack, think of how many duplicates you seeking just a box. They're all Wall of Omens, uncommon land cycle, terminate, bloodbraid, burning tree, etc etc. Just a much smaller pool for these if you think about it
That Etched Imperial Seal is going for $1200+ as of now. It'll go down, but that will be the most difficult one to get. I wouldn't be surprised if that sits around the $900-1000 when all is said and done.
Based on the openings I’ve seen, wotc is short printing the seal to maintain an illusion of scarcity to hoodwink the community. The OG print will maintain the value you’re thinking, but let’s be honest, the card plays like a $20 tutor. Stick with OG or judge promos as per the other comment. While this seal looks incredibly nice, it’s pound town for anything north of $100.

Just of the Dockside and the Imperial seal that's close to 500 as the seal is 400+ foil etched and the borderless dockside is around 70. So I don't see the card value dropping but I do see the Box Price going up.
Wasn't planning on buying this, but now I want a few boxes after watching. Holy shit it looks fun to open, and I need about all those races from your first box.
If they spread them out it should be 96% of cases have one. If random could be 0 or 2 with maybe a minuscule chance of three. If we see a case with two that's a bad thing because it means there are a lot of whiffs out there.
I think the reason the duplication is a bit weird is because not every card has every treatment. Each treatment type has only a select few cards that can be pulled in that treatment.
Most definitely normal print cards and non-chase premium print will drop after release and the scramble to undercut to lock in profit and get cash cash out of boxes. So draft boxes are going to drop back down to under $300 as long as there are resupplies/reprints coming and the collector boxes are going to sell out and go up as the textured cards get chased for the rarity and value just like the neon cards drove demand of the kamigawa collector boxes. As the regular print values keep dropping from the ridiculously overinflated prices down to where they should be these $380+ pre-release draft boxes are going to be way overpriced for the value of cards pulled in the 24 packs and just lose money and the textured cards and foil etched/full art cards will keep the value in the collector packs. Biggest reason draft boxes went up 50% for pre-order was the $350 pre-order price of imperial seal which has already fallen $200+ before release over the past week and it's going down to join vampiric tutor as more reprints for secret lairs and list slots get announced.
Oh boy, yeah draft is not looking good initially with the bundles from T we grabbed today. A lot of $0.50 rares and weak foil/borderless cards. Conqueror'flail and a wrenn and six... emblem were my big pulls but my friend did pull a force of negation so he broke even on his pack since everything else missed.
The frequency of duplicates is to be expected with the borderless cards given the reduced pool. Only select cards are available in borderless, normal that duplicates will pop up more than usual.
From all the videos I've watched, Wrenn and six seems to be one of the hardest pulls in any version. Which makes me happy my OG foul playset won't go down too much
The uncommon and common card duplication makes a lot of sense since the pools are really small. I think it’s like 20 or so uncommon cards and 12 or so commons for the borderless variants.

I have watched like 40 Boxes being opened from different People and I still haven't seen one single Bitterblossom. I have seen more Textured Cards than any version of Bitterblossom. WTF?!?

bad part of case hits is its best to not buy a loose box if you can afford it its best to buy a case open until you hit the textured card then sell all the sealed and buy another case repeat

Definitely seeing some weird duplications in these cases, and it feels like these collector packs only contain a certain amount of the set compliment as possible pulls. This should drop singles prices at least in the short term. hopefully...

The 3% of packs is indeed very close to 1 per case for the textured cards. It’s actually ever so slightly rarer than 1 per case.

Moss boss did pull 2 in a case yesterday but I think thats the exception to the rule. Looks like 1 per case is probably accurate.

Loose packs, maybe. But only if the chances of holos is the same for every pack. Random holos throw out any chances of scaling packs.

rudy can't sell box internationally: so you buy the bo, he opens, it, and tehnically you have bought singles, so he can send that to you.

I think the pool of cards that can come in the full extended/alternate art is much lower than the pool of all cards, and the collector packs guarantee a certain amount of full arts, so that's why you have a higher chance of duplicates. While it is strange to see duplicates in the same pack, think of how many duplicates you seeking just a box. They're all Wall of Omens, uncommon land cycle, terminate, bloodbraid, burning tree, etc etc. Just a much smaller pool for these if you think about it
That Etched Imperial Seal is going for $1200+ as of now. It'll go down, but that will be the most difficult one to get. I wouldn't be surprised if that sits around the $900-1000 when all is said and done.
At that point just buy the judge promo

Based on the openings I’ve seen, wotc is short printing the seal to maintain an illusion of scarcity to hoodwink the community. The OG print will maintain the value you’re thinking, but let’s be honest, the card plays like a $20 tutor. Stick with OG or judge promos as per the other comment. While this seal looks incredibly nice, it’s pound town for anything north of $100.

Great cards. Imperial Seal and Dockside Extortionist in the same pack is insane!!!
Just of the Dockside and the Imperial seal that's close to 500 as the seal is 400+ foil etched and the borderless dockside is around 70. So I don't see the card value dropping but I do see the Box Price going up.
Duplicates in that slot are because the full art card pool is so small in this set.
Wasn't planning on buying this, but now I want a few boxes after watching. Holy shit it looks fun to open, and I need about all those races from your first box.

It says on the box 3% chance for textured foil so that is 1 in every 33 1/3 packs. (3 per cent is the same as 3 out of 100)
If they spread them out it should be 96% of cases have one. If random could be 0 or 2 with maybe a minuscule chance of three. If we see a case with two that's a bad thing because it means there are a lot of whiffs out there.

I think the reason the duplication is a bit weird is because not every card has every treatment. Each treatment type has only a select few cards that can be pulled in that treatment.

The idea is the prices of the reprinted singles is supposed to come down to match the cost of packs, not the other way round.
Most definitely normal print cards and non-chase premium print will drop after release and the scramble to undercut to lock in profit and get cash cash out of boxes. So draft boxes are going to drop back down to under $300 as long as there are resupplies/reprints coming and the collector boxes are going to sell out and go up as the textured cards get chased for the rarity and value just like the neon cards drove demand of the kamigawa collector boxes. As the regular print values keep dropping from the ridiculously overinflated prices down to where they should be these $380+ pre-release draft boxes are going to be way overpriced for the value of cards pulled in the 24 packs and just lose money and the textured cards and foil etched/full art cards will keep the value in the collector packs. Biggest reason draft boxes went up 50% for pre-order was the $350 pre-order price of imperial seal which has already fallen $200+ before release over the past week and it's going down to join vampiric tutor as more reprints for secret lairs and list slots get announced.
Oh boy, yeah draft is not looking good initially with the bundles from T we grabbed today. A lot of $0.50 rares and weak foil/borderless cards. Conqueror'flail and a wrenn and six... emblem were my big pulls but my friend did pull a force of negation so he broke even on his pack since everything else missed.
The frequency of duplicates is to be expected with the borderless cards given the reduced pool. Only select cards are available in borderless, normal that duplicates will pop up more than usual.
From all the videos I've watched, Wrenn and six seems to be one of the hardest pulls in any version. Which makes me happy my OG foul playset won't go down too much

The uncommon and common card duplication makes a lot of sense since the pools are really small. I think it’s like 20 or so uncommon cards and 12 or so commons for the borderless variants.

bad part of case hits is its best to not buy a loose box if you can afford it its best to buy a case open until you hit the textured card then sell all the sealed and buy another case repeat

Definitely seeing some weird duplications in these cases, and it feels like these collector packs only contain a certain amount of the set compliment as possible pulls. This should drop singles prices at least in the short term. hopefully...
100% singles prices will go down a lot. Some will stay down for a bit, but many will climb back up again.
