- "Diggin' a Hole" is the first single by Canadian blues-rock band Big Sugar from their 1996 album, Hemi-Vision. The song was re-released in 1999 on the U.S. version of Big Sugar's next album, Heated. The song was very successful in Canada, reaching #9 on RPM's Canadian Singles Chart.[1] It remains to be one of the band's most popular songs.

Im 22. Gotta say. This new generation dont know music!💯 playing these oldtime bangers around my friends n shit we partying like the 80’s-90’s only difference now. We have smartphones lol. #2024🔥 #ROCKON!
RIP Gary Lowe, your wicked bass playing will be missed :(
Damn forgot just how good this song is! The bass lines chunky grove just kicks you in the you know where! RIP Gary ❤
Whenever I want to remember the good times of Canada... Big Sugar
Thank you for the good times...
Don't lose hope ... we are strong, and many that remember the things that matter. Also, not just Big Sugar, but The Tragically Hip, April Wine, Guess Who, BTO, 5 Man E Band ... the list of Canadian talent is staggering. And you and I are part of it .. #RESIST True North Strong and Free
@@jennifermarlow. Wow based
@@djcybercorgi True north, Strong and Free, young brother! xo
One of the loudest (even being outdoors) concerts I've ever been to. Yet extremely clear and clean whoever does sound for them are true pros great great live band!!!
I saw them in Windsor, Ontario at bar called the Coach the same year this album came out, and my ears are still ringing. But they are awesome live!
Halifax, Citadel Hill, maybe 2000? One of the best concerts ever, considering I listened from a balcony, Garden Terrace. I LOVE THIS BAND. That is all. :)
I saw them in Hamilton a bunch and hell yeah they blew the place up.
@@John29112: I seen “Big Sugar” in Windsor as well but it was down on the river right across from “Casino Windsor” with Windsor’s own the “Tea Party” 🤘
Too bad this recording sounds like it was recorded underwater with ear muffs on.
Rest Easy Gary, Thank you for those amazing bass lines, you were one of the best....
Honestly, I never understood why they didn't smash it bigger, but I'm glad, because the incredible shows I get to see aren't possible in big venues. Thank you Big Sugar, each and everyone one of you, for the good times with your tunes. Love ya!
This was a MASSIVE hit back in the day
Sure was!
I can still remember buying this on cassette tape in 1996 & then driving around listening to it in my 1982 Oldsmobile Delta 88 beater.
Wtf my 83' Oldsmobile Delta 88 dosent have a casette deck
The good days!
Not 1 Oldsmobile was a beater , ever!
I went to these guy's concert when i was 9 year's old I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Respect
I hear this his the loudest band in North America. I'm so happy that some new bands know how to rock. I look forward to hearing more from this band.
This band is from the mid 90's
Sad to say, they are long gone, but so GREAT that you appreciate that Canadian sound. Check out their other stuff; like you said, bands like this don't come along nowadays. Enjoy! :)
@@jennifermarlow. They're not long gone. They still play shows together, although Garry Lowe (the bass player) died a few years ago.
I saw them live gordie used like 5 amps stacked together I still have no hard hearing
Motorhead is infamous for their LOUD concerts but Big Sugar gives them a run for their money! I've seen both and pretty sure I lost some hearing but it was worth it. 🤘
The first time that I heard this was on some Canadian daytime talk show. I thought OMG this is awesome.
Some of the best harmonica there is to be heard. Hell of a band.
This is the song that got me into Big Sugar. The song has one hell of a groove.
RIP Gary Lowe
This song brings back so many memories! And it still kicks ass today!
It still regularly airs on the radio!
This song really grabs me. It sounds like 40 instruments instead of 4! The video is an awesome production. I'm so glad that I found it! God bless youtube.
‘Rally round the Lion.’ Rest In Peace, Garry Lowe. 🕯
What a great song. How are they not big
Devon Duquette Hey another Duquette ! 4 years after your post and almost every song on their album a hit and yet How are they not big ?
Headstones are another under mentioned band.
Seems like the Hip took much of the limelight . These great Canadian bands deserve more. I hope they succeed.
lol they were huge about a decade before your comment and classic ever since. Where have you been?
so under-rated and unknown, 'cept in Canada and the West Coast.. one of the loudest and greatest blues-rock band and songs out there.. what bass licks.. 1.6k likes com'on man!.. sad to see and now Gary's gone 😢
One of my favorite bands ever. They played Halifax in 2000, and wow! You're absolutely right, and the bass player was awesome. RIP dear soul. x
RIP Garry Lowe your music meant a lot to us.
Saw them in Victoria BC twice . Awesome & very loud music .
Great Canadian Band. Saw them in Boston Years ago. Great Live Band.

I never knew they were Canadian. ❤❤❤
Wow, I haven't heard this in Years, Love it! Nice to hear and see something that kick butt, other the pop puke that is flooding the radio stations.
You made driving fun, thanks.

Saw them at York University in the late 90's......stellar...
Found these guys on Napster ,and what luck.

I remember waking up to this song every morning for school in 2000 - 2001 when I was in grade 10, Still love this song to this day!

They're hitting up Shawville Fair this season.. #stoked!
That's Alex Lifeson's old Gibson EDS-1275! What a sound!
They are local to me in Ontario.
They are releasing a new album this Friday the 28th.
I met them on twitter when they began following me. Great guys!
see if youtube was a thing in the 90's then this video would have at least half a million+
You're kidding me I would figure it would be a FUCK ton more then half a million.
+Canna Rocky I agree. It holds up wonderfully well.
This comment was made 7 yrs ago when half a million views was a lot lol
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Lol, was just mind blown about an expensive part with bar stool profits again! Lol, t.v again! Good times! Some lived so free! I can't say I regret that time with no reason to fight and got to see a pretty girl except like years ago! Is she with anyone, which way does a guy look!
Bah hahahahahaha
Love this video. It's funny and still has an edge to it.
I been cryin for days.....love this song...HELP!!!

You haven't made a case, but simply a statement. Try again kiddo
You'll be missed, Gary
Boo ya! Excellent! New band for me! 🤘🏻👏🏻
taking me back. i love these guys. thanks for it all Gary!!!
...these guys have to be the loudest band to see live...when I saw them years ago, I felt like I was the guy in the recliner in the Maxell cassette ads from the ' 80s / ' 90s...but it was good...:)
Perect analogy. I have that poster on my wall.
Saw them in the 90s in a small room. I've seen hundreds of shows. Literally the loudest show I've ever seen (including Metallica on the "And Justice for All" tour). Crushed my skull. Great tune.
Ever see the Odds live? Loud and proud
6th row on floors - Van Halen at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1984. Deaf for almost two weeks afterwards.
True, so true! They played Halifax in 2000, and I had a balcony just across from the concert site. It was loud, but no distortion, just great sound. And what a good analogy, haha.
KILLER 🎸
thank you for putting a decent version of this iconic jam!!!
Great 👍🏽
RIP, Gary Rowe 💔💔🙏, GOD BLESS HIM
Thanks Jack White for leading me over here... these cats Rock❗✨🤘😎🎶
Love love this dong
This band should be playing the Super Bowl. They kick ass and aren't reccognized for it.
Almost all of theirs songs are hits. They are diverse and powerful . I hope they get the recognition they deserve.
April Wine gave us hit after hit but never really got the fame.
April Wine put out 20 albums with hit after hit and never received a Juno. That's not right. Our music industry is very political and overbearing.
Canadian bands have no hope in Canada even though they deserve it.
@@00708046 It's true, but I recall being in Florida in the 80s, and hearing April Wine on the Top 40. It was so cool, to be honest! I mean, they played at my high school. No Juno? Oh well. They filled every arena and bar they ever played, and that's what counts. :)
id like to take this time to appreciate the fact that I was the 420th subscriber. that's jokes... I almost saw you guys in Sudbury Ontario but had no one to go with at the time.. You guys are awesome keep rockin!
Thanks 👍 Jeff hood
New to me and love it!!
love this voice and super video. xox
Awesome!!!!
Bass Player is amazing
This is my fight song, take back my life song, prove I'm alright song.🙂😊🌞
1999 was the year dean Jackson from alert bay Vancouver island and I played that song for ages in his 79 Ford 150 blue pick up truck that was the thing to do
This was/is a perfect distillation of younger and older musical influences, capturing the early 90s in a cruelty-free butterfly net rather than a grungy plaid shirt. God Bless Big Sugar for their winding, whining, bassy and cheesegratery contributions to modern music. :)
Well said sister! Very descriptive and so 100% accurate only someone who was there can understand what this time was like BUT you summed it all up right there 😊 tell me you're a writer! You should, would, could or have to be a pro babe 😁🌹❤
I have been searching for this song for 2 hours. It reminds me of my mom. Who haates me

@@makegeorgeorwellfictionaga9268 sorry. windsor. Gordie went to Walkerville High School. Influenced by the sounds of Detroit. I used to caddy for Kelly's Dad at Essex. Kelly is a good south windsor boy.
Nice bottom end by the bassist
