What is this bike over $40,000.
djjmplus3 guys paid that and more 14 years ago for some stupid 300 tire chopper! That you could not ride for 75 miles! These hi powered m8 bikes are cheap!
3XR5 yep with a Wood cam in it! 225hp is here in the near future! Go look at Gardner Racing in Maine and their builds!

If you want to go fast, don't buy a HOG. Go buy yourself a crotch rocket instead of a cruiser [traditionallly known as standard] motorcycle. Harley guys are hilarious.
I have a 2019 Road King Special with the generation one, stage 4 kit. It gets up and moves. It’s taken a little getting used to bopping around town. The throttle is sensitive and there have been moments where I think my wife has been holding on for dear life riding two-up. What it excels at is highway cruising, long days, big miles where it effortlessly runs at high speeds and always feels like it has more to give. It’s an amazing engine. I went from a torque stage 2 on my FXDWG to this and honestly the stage 4, in my opinion, feels comparable to that. My son rides the FXDWG now and we’ve done a little friendly stop light, quarter mile and while he gets off the line a little faster, it’s not by much and the the 117 gets him every time. I know that is really a bit of apples to oranges but my point is, I don’t really feel like you’re giving up too much low-end torque on the generation one stage 4. Certainly what you do gain, as Matt mentioned, is a TON of high-end cruising and passing power. If you have a chance to give one a spin (stage 4 bike, that is) I’d recommend doing it. The sensation and feel are difficult to describe; it’s just immensely powerful. And if you take a passenger, a standard sissy bar is strongly recommended (that’s from my wife). Happy riding and be safe out there.
PS- what was the rise on those handle bars? They look amazing. The stock Road King Special bars are terrible.
Nice thing about the 131” is that because it’s a big motor it pulls down low too.
Man, he went all out on that beast! Love to do that kit on my 114 Heritage! Thanks Matt!
If you don’t live in an emissions state just do an aftermarket camshaft and head pipe. Will make the same power as the 128. Here is a dyno of a 114 and 117 with a camshaft upgrade other than harleys.

Wow. This is one of the best looking bikes I've ever seen; such great taste and execution!!
One Bad Ass Roadking!! Long live the KING!!!
finally! somebody did a RK up exactly the way I would want it
The first ten seconds should be a ring tone! Just awesomeness!!
I'm a chrome guy buy this bike is awesome!
LOVE THIS 131 Road King Special BUILD!!! Great job Jim! Both Matt and Jim give great feedback about the build. I will add to it in hopes it gives you more useful information in deciding to upgrade to this kit or not.
I ride a 2017 SGS that started off as a 107. Want to first start off by saying I use all Harley parts to keep my warranty and extended service plan. After purchase of the bike and riding for 10,000 miles, I did a Stage 1 using HD Pro Street Tuner and Smart Auto Tuner, then at 15,000, bumped up to Stage 2 Performance cam. After 30,000 miles, I upgraded to the 128 kit with upgraded oil pump and Screaming Eagle clutch and springs.
After the break-in of 500 miles/2,500 rpms, I finally was able to start getting into the throttle and this is a TORQUE beast!! It is manageable to ride around town in normal riding conditions but once you get into the throttle and the engine hits 3,500 rpms, hold on! Takes off like a rocket. You will get to 100 quick and I would say 0 - 60 a little bit around 3 seconds. The clutch is going to be stouter; Jim compensated for it as Matt describes at 8:55. I went with the Oberon adjustable clutch (and break) levers which work out great and I don't void my warranty/ESP.
I have learned to hold onto the left grip tightly before I throttle on. After I rode for 1,700 miles of all types of riding conditions, I went back to have the data from the Smart Auto Tuner downloaded into the ECM and what a huge difference it made!!! This is a lot of power to respect. Both the 128 (121hp/126trq) and 131 (121hp/131trq) have very close hp/torque numbers that you can’t tell the difference. You want to pass a semi on the highway, no problem. You want to pass a car, no problem. You want to get to 100 quickly, no problem. I did spin the back tire going from 4th to 5th passing a group of cars on a two-lane straight away so I just keep it in one gear when passing.
Keep your distance from any other vehicle/motorcycle in front of you because a twist of the throttle and you will be on them before you know it. I ride in the very back in group riding now because I can keep a further distance. If I lead, I tend to leave the group behind without realizing it. Riding the motorcycle for these distances between factory and upgrades, you will notice you will have to ride the motorcycle different than previously before. Matt and the folks at Laidlaw give straight up honest reviews of these upgrade kits in previous videos, just depends on what you want, riding style and budget. Stage 2 torque or performance cam with HD Pro Street & Smart Auto Tuner is most bang for the buck keeping warranty and ESP. Anything beyond that is more power/torque according to your riding style.
With the 128/131 kit, you are running a lot of torque and thus have to adjust going into different types of corners but coming out and giving it throttle is an absolute blast. Meaning you have to find out what gear and speed to be in before going into a certain type of corner and how to throttle out of it. They say the M8 engine is designed to perform in the upper rpm range so you just have to be willing to ride it there. Don't buy a Stage 2 Performance cam, Stage 4 or Big Bore kit unless you are willing to ride in the upper rpms otherwise you are just wasting your money. The engine is powerful and torqued so to me putting this in a softail frame is probably why Harley isn't offering it. I think you need the extra weight of the touring frame for the engine kit and the ability to cool it. I would look at getting a super sport if you want to go lighter and faster.
There are those who will say “this or that” company makes better “this or that” parts better but I don’t wrench, don’t care too, don't care to spend thousands experimenting, don't care to go above 110 mph, don't care to line-up and the warranty/ESP is important to me. This kit has all the power you need on the road. In my opinion, anything above it needs to be on a track to enjoy it. I don't care to Dyno for numbers because this is just FUN and a BLAST to ride and that's all that matters to me. For those who say why doesn't Harley just include this with a bike coming off the factory line, I would say not many folks need or have the experience for this much power. This way, you have options to buy whatever you want, whatever color, whatever options, whatever accessories and can upgrade the engine if you desire. It costs a bit more but not everyone needs this much power.
Now, if you made it this far, take into consideration the Dyno numbers of the kits. You can get a new Road King, Street/Road Glide standard with a 107 and do the 128 upgrade kit plus keep the 2 year warranty and ESP if purchased. Get it all done at the time of purchase. Very good deal for the budget minded buyer.
He went all out. Super clean and sleek from front to back. Very well done.
Nice job! Just purchased the 2021 Road King Special in Deadwood Green yesterday. Would love to see the customer's build spec list on this bike sometime (although you do a good job of identifying all the components verbally very well). Thanks for always producing and providing such high quality and informative videos. We appreciate you here in Northern Colorado, Matt. With respect, Kevin F.
Watching that speedometer climbing in the intro,
BLEW MY MIND.
The owner definitely went all in, haha. He's the man.
like the way the speedometer grays out as the speed gets crazy and those highway bumps now and then and lane splitting - all so gutsy.
Damn you for making me headbang to that intro music! My neck is already sore from headbanging at the Chaos & Carnage Tour 😭
Not sure if the owner is going to ride as fast as Matt did 😁😁
Awesome build though, loving the foot controls and those mirrors as well.
Your bike looks awesome. I'm not a big fan of the fairings so I'm partial to road kings. You built a winner in my book
the talk ends here.😏 H-D forever 🖤
The minute you fixed the audio was the very minute that I was starting to type a message that the audio is screwed and all I could hear was teenage mutant ninja cartoon crap. LOL Glad you fixed that!
This bike has almost $20k of upgrades. No expense spared. Absolutely sick!!!!
North of 20k brother. Thanks for the comment. 👍🏻👍🏻
HI I LIVE IN QUÉBEC CANADA...AND I WANT TO BUY THE SAME BIKE LIKE THIS WITH YOUR MODS... CAN YOU WRITE THE LIST OF ALL ARTICLES FOR THIS SET UP...PLEASE!!!! Or its possible for you to prepare the same bike and ship at the dealership in my town? SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH I SPEAK FRENCH
You have a beautiful bike I had a 2017 with the 107 and liked it very much. I think you built the perfect Road King. Congratulations!
I feel like the cops theme song should be playing in the background. That’s one bad bike. Love the customer build videos.
Pretty sweet bike. I love those Road King Specials and making it more sporty seems like a great idea.
MATT
You hit every dang question I had! I was always torn between that stage 3 and 4. Front end torque vs top end Hp. Plus the governor question.
Thanks a bunch! Awesome vid. Still hardcore Legends fan myself. Had them all. Nothing beats Legend IMHO. Thanks again. Be safe!

Need to upgrade the speedo to a 250 MPH unit. Other than that, it's spot on.
Did this rider have to take out a 2nd mortgage, or did they just sell their soul?
Yeah, the spend figure was noticeably absent. What do you think?
All touring bike riders sold their soul
It’s a standard feature after you sign the loan in blood
Way to loud for your headset. Lol
Bike, parts and labor are likely approaching $100k. Just my guess...
@@dogsnmotorcycles 🤑🤑🤑
Nice ride, Harley concept is good. I personally voided my warranty 30 days after purchase d it. A long list but now I am not worried about something shattering or. Plastic breaking.
I had a Road King and loved it . Bought a Street Glide Special and it feels like a much bigger bike even though it is the same frame . I think i am going back to the road king .Will see what they have for 2024 ?
Yes, without the fairing it does seem a bit small and it is about 35-40 lbs lighter.
Just about perfect! I love the build. If I was following that vision, I'd probably opt for the Stage III here in the Boston, MA area. Nice job Jim and great review as always Matt. Keep up the great work brother
Well, I just remembered this kit is only for M8 Touring, which I do not currently have hahah. No Stage III necessary on this new baby
yup touring M8 only. Thanks for watching and your comment as always. Enjoy your ride
The Endgame boards and foot controls are so dope
Man that's one wild ride.
Nothing witty to say here. Just loving the he build. Thanks for sharing
Matt you can't hide your speed, man.I can tell you was up in the 110 limits.
I feel like my roadliner is keeping up with this all day
Performance baggers are king !! Nice build bro :-)
WOW!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 This king is Fing Bad Ass!!!😍 This vato for sure has some deep pockets!! 🖤 #Chingón
The bike is beautiful but the only thing I could see wrong is that Mat’s sleeves are to short! Lol 👍🇺🇸
Love these custom bike build videos!
That sound though just... wow
I’d love to see this bike or any RK with the T bar set up.
105 no blur. Hard.
Have you seen the RK Shadetree has on loan from Bert's Barracuda?
Hey Matt please open an HD dealership in NYC :) We need a guy like you! Awesome job bro
I have a 2018 RGS 107 Stage 3, with 120 TQ and 115 HP. That's plenty!
That roar…my goodness
I’m surprised the specials don’t come with this motor for the price of them these days.
I couldn’t agree with you more we can’t be the only people in here who think that Harley charges way too much for their bikes and gives us way too little. The bike in this video is amazing but the guy had to dump an awful lot of money to get it to this point. Harley should make better bikes from the beginning. I have a 2018 CVO Rd. glide and for what I paid for the bike I should have a top-of-the-line engine I shouldn’t have had to put a stage four kit on the bike to get ‘decent’ performance. If Things stay the same my next bike will definitely not be a Harley.
Sam I’ve wanted a Harley my entire life but they’re just too much money for not enough bike. I’d love a road glide if it had more power and was 20k not 30.
Wow! That baby will stand up and talk on the highway.
Thats one bad Road King. Nice video
I like your style we have lot in common on what we like. An when you say your smiling while talking my friend it was very apparent you were i mean you were enjoying yourself an that's what its all about good luck not that you need it. Have great life Barry
I ride a 107 stage 2 rk and luv it intensely...
DANG Matt that is a beast and looks like it!
Beautiful bike and amazing sound! Keep em coming!!!
Well done composition of parts and accessories. Sounds great, too. Unfortunately totally illegal engine/exhaust where I live probably because it's too much fun
Come on Harley Davidson....... Build a screaming eagle edition out of the factory
I have done the kit and can say I see why Harley doesn't put these motors in factory line production bikes including CVOs. Most riders don't need nor can handle the power. For those few who want power, have at it with these big bore kits in whatever touring bike they want. Yes, it will cost extra but again, this ain't for everyone.
@@mojomanmurph1925 LOL 121 hp for how much? my daughters Suzuki GSX-R 750 came stock with 148 hp
. The motor company sells you crumbs at steak prices and that's why its failing so hard right now, they have the ability to revamp and give us state of the art but no the great unwashed gets what they are willing to pay for
@@dinkydotzero My '09 Yamaha R1 comes stock with 180 HP. After mods and tuning, it has 203 HP and I can only ride it for an hour or two. Is it fast? Hell yeah. Is it as cool as my Harley? Hell no. I ride my '18 HD Fatboy S SE Stage IV with 121 HP/130 TQ everyday and IMO, it's much more enjoyable and comfortable.
Dinky Dot
.
@@dinkydotzero these bikes are different man you should go ride one for yourself. Buddy of mine had a tuned 149ci s&s. Literally 185ftlbs by 2,000 rpm. The weight of these bikes and the torque is nuts. Plus riding is different on sportsbikes... its just all horsepower
I have a 17 FLHP Stage 2 107 and I've been lucky enought o ride a 2- Street Glide Special 131 Stage 4 and there is no comparison. That 131 is a beast compared to the 107. I wouldn't mind going to the 128, just need the $$$.
Worth the 9k (Canadian) to go from a 114 to 131?? That's a lot of cash
So the engine was already broke in? Ride hard.
Stunning bikes! You got a great crew there too!
Muy bueno, Laidlawwww.....😎
Riding a customized '19 Special midnight blue...
How do he keep it so clean?
Beautiful build so show off the Ohlins in the twistes man. Any bike can go down the freeway. Chur .
Excelent with the öhlins and the inverted front end what a nice bike. One thing only why the "big" indicators ?
Great video as usual MATT
Thanks now I need one for my road king🤙🇨🇦
Matt, FYI: your speedo isn't blurred in the beginning of the video.. Might want to fix that.
I have a stage 3 ready to bump ti up
This is a very tasty build. So the question is, will the 2021 CVOs have a 131 standard?
I know this build goes back a while. I have a RKS and am thinking about doing something similar. Besides the mentioned clutch upgrade were there any other transmission or drivetrain upgrades done or can stock components handle all that extra go?
Gorgeous king. I couldn't work out what the strap was at the front of the seat? Was it part of the seat or something for the audio/visual set up? I have the same windshield but powder coating the chrome fittings. Thanks for a great video
It’s beautiful badass bike. It the question is, how much you have to spend to make it the way it is. As they said , when you buy a Harley it’s just a down payment to what you pay for the accessories.
Matt, Are the ohlins as good as they say? It looked like it was bucking you around more than other bikes
I noticed that also. Too bad he couldn't run the same road, same speed on a standard RK
The Ohlins are great. The suspension was a little stiff for me. It wasn't adjusted for my weight. Of course when you're going that fast on a really bad road that's inevitable as well.
How do you get a 131 kit on a California bike? I've asked Laidlaw's and others and nobody can do it.
Such a sick looking bike
It's AWESOME 😎,. But the sound did come across the video very good,. DAMN. FAST. KILLER 🤣
The skinny forks don’t look meaty enough for me. Looks like a sportster front on a touring bike
That king is the shit, fuckin dream bike.....
Another great video keep them videos coming 👍 👌
Very good video. Awesome bike!
Do you think the 131 will ever be available for softails?
Would love to see it in an anniversary Fatboy
Ahhhhhhh yeeeaaaaahhhh
well done , another honest review, cheers from simon in cornwall uk .
Motorcycle looks fantastic
Wow, what a beautiful beast!! What is up with the speedo? it went fuzzy on the interstate. :)
Really love everything about this build except the handlebars. They look great they just don’t work well for me.
Governor? On touring right? I hit 120mph on my 2020 lowrider s this morning coming in to work
How can you trust that suction mount on the wind screan? I sure as hell would never mount it there. Also, what kind of a wind screan is that with the venting?
Errrr, yes please
Is it powerful enough to need a chain and sprocket conversion?
What’s the Horsepower and Torque numbers? Exhaust sounds great!!
Damn that beast fucking gets it!!!!!!
Added torque helps moving 700 pounds. I sure it really helps.
How many speeding ticket's do you have Matt?
Awesome looking bike lot of money in that bike it’s a keeper
That is one sick bike i wish i could afford
Most bikes with bags it is recommended not to go faster than 110 as bags can cause dangerous handling consequences.
The bike with solid suspension set FLHXS does well at least to 140 as long as I keep my elbows up and knees stucked in. I get a little chicken after that. I’m running Legends all around I’m sure Ohlins can do that for sure as well.
That is absolutely one of the sickest Harley's I've ever seen! FUCK!
Haha thanks !
i have same bars and windshield, did you have to pull back your bars alot to fit the windsheild? if so, what are your thoughts on the handle bar height?
Sweet! So you can run any of the aftermarket slip ons with this header? I thought that was a limitation to the newer SE headers where only the SE mufflers would bolt up.
No, I believe it's the same fitment.
Beautiful!
Hey Matt!! Great vid. Want to ask a question,i ride a 21 Road Glide limited and my wife a 21 Road Glide special and we do a fair amount of long distance riding. We r both very happy with our stock 114 M8 engine on our bikes. We both love the idea of doing this stage 4 131 kit down the line but we wonder if it would affect our long distance riding in regards to gas mileage, over heating and overall reliablity. Is this kit more for hot rodding locally or is it reliable for long distance riding? Thank u. Love the vids, keep them coming and if my wife and i ever make it out to the West Coast we will def stop by the dealership to say hi and grab a tshirt!!
What do you think about longevity? How many miles before an issue?
Torque monster! I’d be curious about the fuel on long rides with this power plant!? Will Harley draw a 7 gallon tank? Just saying...
I don’t see a 7 gallon tank in their future. The fuel economy is a good question though. I don’t think it’s gonna be too bad though.
Great Video!!!!
112 mph here we come!
