I'm a Village Planner in Orland Park and just wanted to say thanks for making the video. It was a random suggestion for me and I'm glad to see people continue to enjoy the mall and Orland Park commercial retail climate. It's funny to think that someday this mall could be a landmark for indoor shopping malls if it continues its success.
Does anyone remember the old "Orland Park Place Mall?" It was a dead mall in the 80's and 90's across the street from Orland Square. They had a handful of stores operating in it but I only went to the Ol Ballpark sports memorabilia store and the pizza place. It's gone now an replaced with a DSW, Dicks, and Marshalls.
I remember going into that mall once in the 90s and it was dead then. I like how they redid it years ago to what it is now. Montgomery wards was there and weiboldts
I love when tiger direct was there you could still see the original floors from the mall. Wards, weibolts, sportsmart. Now bbb. Stein mart are all closed
A little background on that, Orland Park Place Mall and Orland Square Mall were suffocating each other. Two malls within a mile or so of each other is counterintuitive. The Village used a Tax Increment Financing incentive for the smaller mall to completely redevelop the Orland Park Place Mall, making it outward facing (an early iteration of the common outward facing mall environments that are popular today). Orland Park, even today, has 2 of the top 10 (I believe out of 10) in the State.
Hi! Do you know the name of the smoothie shop that was used to be there at the food court before? I forgot the name of it.
I'm not sure
