Thanks for watching my interview with The Special One. Yes, it's an old interview- but it was originally just for people with access to a zoom link. But, after the recent success of my AJ interviews, i thought maybe there might be some football fans following me, that might enjoy seeing some insightful takes from Jose. In all honest, even as an Arsenal fan, this was one of the highlights of my career. Jose was full of knowledge and really has that special aura- and i've interviewed a lot of sports stars before. In the return game vs Man Utd he was very lucky, Scholes 2nd goal wasn’t offside. If United were 2 up they are not losing the tie and probably will not concede last minute.

@@AntoineSpeaks It would be nice to hear him say what he would have done differently at Waterloo to win. Early Mourinho is reminiscent of early Napoleon, later Mourinho of later Napoleon. Top level football management is the closest thing today to commanding armies in earlier centuries.

The man who made Real Madrid what it is today. The best again. Without this man we don't have 6/10 champions leagues. Zidane was good but not a great manager. Ancelotti is great and helped make Vinicius the player we all knew he could become.

He made Madrid play like Barca the second time he came back to the club; Benzema played out left with zero emphasis on having a 9 inside the box. Vinicius didnt improve under him and only minimized him. He was hellbent on playing Isco who was overweight at the time. Solari imo did more than Zidane from a tactical perspective; Valverde, Vini, Reguilon, Ceballos all played well under him.
United were hardly at their best in 03/04. Lost 9 matches in the league, finished 3rd (for only the second time in the PL) and were in transition after the departure of Beckham and Ferdinand’s drugs ban. Still fair credit to Porto for advancing but context shouldn’t be ignored.
He is a legend but didn't innovate in the game. All tactics get destroyed after 10 years. Even Pep's tiki taka. His low block football get countered but he still stuck with it. Mourinho's attitude nowadays is more humble, his ego has dropped significantly. Today’s game is a lot more dynamic with teams changing tactics every 10 mins, high pressing, counter press, low block counter attack, possession and tiki taka. Mourinho like all coaches in top teams fall after losing repeatedly with an expensive squad and it started in 2013 Madrid.

He even admitted on the Overlap recently when they went through his red cards that what he did was stupid and he just did a stupid thing in the moment. So he knew himself it was deserved. Without him in the second match you are missing that beating heart of the team that won't let standards drop.
@@davidlean1060 That's just football for you. In their 2022 CL semi tie, if Walker had seen out the full 90 minutes against Madrid, City would have gone through to the final. He was not able to continue, Camavinga exploits that side and then Madrid attack from the flanks to secure a draw and then go on to win.
That's football... sometimes you get the rub of the green. But, the game is also 90 minutes, for Porto to even be close against United was a big achievement considering the respective sizes of the clubs

But for a really dodgy disallowed goal from Paul Scholes and a head scratching calamitous error from Goalkeeper Tim Howard where he inexplicably parries a late free kick at goal back into open play, They never win that game and who knows? The special one may not have become quite so 'special'

Mourinho’s only tactic was to ask for unlimited budgets to buy his way to silverware. As soon as he stopped getting unlimited budgets, the silverware stopped.
