Well done Bruce, Nice shout out for Stella she a good Lady. That poor Torch plug I like them 😂 See you on a stream soon, good video 🙂👍
Thank you sir
@@BrucesShop Hi Bruce i think I got a message from you? I saw it but it isn’t coming up now, I just want to make sure it was you. If you need to contact me my email address is in my about page and always in the description of each of my videos. Thanks Luke 🙂👍
You're just too good my friend ... You always have an ace up your sleeve, a Piston Stop! Now everyone wants one.
Well I had fun. Isn't that is what retirement is all about.
Thank you Mr Bruce for the shout out! You had me on the edge of my seat, worrying that tap would break off in that plug. Awesome idea, that threaded rod for the adjustable length, and I really like that homemade pin spanner. Cheers!
Thanks for the idea.
Saw Happy!
One could also use similar resources and processes to create a TDC indicator.
I always like homemade tools being made and lawnmower lady came up with a good one there
She did, and I copied HER idea, Good for her.
Great idea thanks Stella and Bruce .
Any time! I was a fun small project
Very enginiqual of you. love it!
Thank you kindly!
Great hack Stella 👍 Now you have a couple of new tools Bruce nice !
Yes, thanks
Coooooollllll at last we have found a use for a torch spark plug lol great video mate
Thanks again Mick
Nice job Bruce and thank you Lawnmower Lady for pointing Bruce in the right direction for the piston stop.
Right on. Stella really inspired me to do this as I was exactly at the point where i needed a piston stop. Crazy how things work out. Thanks again for the kindness and knowledge. EP rocks.
Bruce that is the best thing to do with a torch plug hope you and Mrs p are all well Stella is a clever lady
She is . Thanks Mark
Always fun to build a custom tool. It takes time but it makes life easier and you don't wreck anything, Awesome Bruce.
Thanks again Steve
Hey Bruce,
I love your job and especially your facial expression when you mentioned the word 'Powermore' that meant it all ...just keep up the good work! 👌
Thank you kindly
Good job Bruce, very smart idea... I love it! Cheers my friend. I'll try to make one.. lol🤣
It was lawnmower lay that triggered the video. If you can subscribe to her. It is free.
Nice one Mr P. Exactly the reason I keep old sockets and damaged tools. Its great when you can re purpose things like that. Keep em coming. Regards from the west of Ireland.
Thanks Colin.
well deserved thumbs up for this video that's been a cool idea from The Lawn Mower Lady and a great idea for a clutch tool you made well done
Glad you liked it! Can you believe a bunch of experts have commented on how I should have done this and I just needed a piston stop the same day. So I did it.
Cool Mr B. I like homemade tools.
Great job on both tools. It sure beats the rope trick. I had to modify a socket to get the starter clutches off my Gravelys. I don't like doing the rope trick. Great video!!!
Right on
I believe I saw a similar demonstration at the NASA Space Museum 😂😂 Good tool.. I'm on it!!!
Thanks
Well done Bruce makes a guy feel good when he can make his own tools for sure for the job.thanks for the information
Sam
Correct
Clever idea. My first tear down I also used a plug using a wooden dowel which worked but was not adjustable. Yours is much much better!
Right prototypes are hard. The first one for me was was done by Stella.
You're awesome - great job as always
Thanks again!
Amazing Bruce I seen Stella doing the video and remember you getting excited love it seeing a talented man like yourself seeing something new and then showing us how it's done well done to you and Stella thank you Bruce.and Stella
Thank you Gary
@@BrucesShop it's a pleasure Bruce

@@BrucesShop I have been subbed for a while.
Finally a good use for a Torch plug
Bruce you are a tool maker mate nice job
Thanks
Porcelain=fine china and you're the bull in the shop? The sweet smell of success. Well done mate.
Thanks my friend
Great job Bruce it’s always fun when you can make your own tools, have a great day
it really is
I would like to show the tools I have made - I am old I don't know how make videos- Mustie 1 ask ed to see my tools-I have made many over the years
Very nice tool fabrication. Looks like you had a lot of fun making those great little tools.
It really is my favourite thing
nice tinkerin' Bruce, take care eh!
Thanks, you too!
Wise words my friend - laughing at one self. Great tool - hope DW6 will take up the challenge
Me too!!!
That's a good idea. Love that clutch remover tool you made. 😀
It was a rush job but worked.
Rather than possibly needing a washer and nut to creat a stop for the through bolt, in this case I would have the bolt ready to use prior to cutting threads. Then when getting close to cutting the final threads and cleaning them up I’d test the bolt by running it through. The goal is the have the almost finished threads provide enough friction to lock the bolt in place but allow it to be turned in or out as needed.
Well there is nothing stopping you from doing this. I challenge you to make one, as well do a video of how you did it. What I do is, turn on the camera, do my thing, and hope for the best for all my subscribers and for those who I hope to get to subscribe. I hope with your knowledge that you can help us all. Thanks for the informed comment.
Bruce's Shop Bruce I’m well aware of how difficult and time-consuming it is to accomplish a task AND record it well at the same time. Please never take my comments as criticism, for they certainly are never meant that way. My input is always meant simply as perhaps an alternate method I have experienced that may also prove useful or easier or more effective for you or your viewers. I have learned a lot watching you work and appreciate your efforts very much. I also appreciate your humor and energy. I’m 74 so I totally get it! I’ve been teaching myself small engine work for the past several months as an additional income (since the pandemic cut my income as a baker by 60-70%) and very much value your knowledge in this area. I’m a Yank but totally love Red Green and his closing comment, “We’re all in this together “. 😉👍🔧👨🏻🍳
I'll bet that's what wrong with the echo trimmer I have. Bad crank seal. Thanks for the videos Bruce
Just enjoy the job. That is hard to do sometimes.
You are amazing Sir and BIG CONGRATS on 39 ,000 subs next will be 40k Team Bruce will be with you the whole time to 40 k you have amazing videos thank you sir and Stay Safe Sir
Thanks Daryl. I only check my subs when i get close to a milestone. Like now LOL
I would like to get your email address. contact me at bthversion1@gmail.com
Heck yeah awesome job Bruce ol buddy, been thinking about making one ever since Stella mentioned it. 🐓👍
Go for it sir.
Great job Bruce, I'm always worried something is gonna go TWANG, shoot across the shop and damage your vehicles .. :(
Me too
Doesn't it feel good when a homemade tool works flawlessly, or as Hanable from A-Team use to say, "I love when a plan comes together", great Job as always sir.
Thanks again Knighthawk
And I thought I was the King of Homemade Tools 🤓
You still are Jim
👍👍💯💯
Thanks Mel
Wanted to see how you got the seal out without scoring the crank. Looks like it could have been a bit tricky.
The whole side comes of with 6 small bolts then you just tap out the seal
How's she goin'? It's exciting to make your own tools. This is a neat one, and the socket for removing the clutch is awesome too. That will sure come in handy on the next saw eh!!! The Lawn Mower Lady is pretty cool. Thanks for sharing and take care!!!
She is a great member of our community
Everyone knows who to take their chainsaws to now.
OH NO!!! Chain saw everywhere. LOL
Many taps actually have the suggested drill size stamped right on them. That said, for my most often-used taps I keep two taps and two matching drill bits together so I don’t have to wonder or hunt for what I need.
That is a great idea Thanks. Remember i am just an old retired guy trying to make and repair things.
Nice video Mr Bruce, I did notice you drop just as much stuff as I do while working on anything. :)
I have the dropsies every day
LoL... maybe we should invent Magnetic Fingers and make a killin. 🤣🤣
My tap set has the drill size marked on each tap. Check yours.
Thanks
Great job on the tool. I really liked Stella's when I saw it. A lot of taps have the drill size on them. Good job on the clutch tool. I wonder how many piston stops I would need for all my 2 cycle and 4 cycle engines. I need to check I think I would need 2 to 3 of them.
Thanks for the tips!
I need your address. bthversion1@gmail.com
The plastic bolt was my only concern. A great home built tool though. I bought one yeas ago, never though about making one. I might have to do it just for the fun of it
I would. Do a video!!!
@@BrucesShop unfortunately I have a face suitable for radio 😁
I made one about 15 years ago
You are the Mower man
Nice work Bruce. I think I would have used a bench grinder to remove the ground tab. Easier to manage.
There are many ways to do a job. Thanks
@@BrucesShop
Hey Bruce,
Today I picked up a free Craftsman mower with a 5.5 hp Honda engine. Carburetor was in pieces!
I don’t normally choose to work on Hondas but since it was free I took it. I remembered your video where you used dowels to locate the carburetor and gaskets. I had some spare 1/4” rod so I threaded it to M6x1 and ground down the OD to 0.23” to allow the carburetor and gaskets to slide over. It worked great! Engine runs nice now.
I tried to win her nice prizes. I like her channel also.
I wanted those screw drivers
Very cool. Are seals readily available for that saw?
I got them locally for $11 each There are 2 saws. I think the other side is OK. If it is good so am not going to mess with it. Old stuff is easy to break
Lot of time to build a $5 tool.
Exactly. It isn't the money. It is the challenge. I just love creating something that didn't exist from things just in the shop. Are you suggesting I should go out and buy one? When I needed on that same day. It is what retirement is all about. i hope you get there some day.
Homemade tools? Let me tell you about them. I was an autobody and frame repairman for 46 years, most tools I made will not fit in my toolbox.....lol.
Right Slide hammers and 2 foot long spoons.
@@BrucesShop Actually I worked side by side with the man who invented the slide hammer. the prototype had a 20lb. lead weight on it, he was in his 70's and I in my early 20's. Btw, he was still using the prototype.
Hello again from Toronto. Bruce if you grind the curved part above the hex on the spark-plug, the porcelin almost falls out. I would also suggest to NOT use metal as a piston stop. The genious in this tool is that plastic toilet seat bolt! Metal can damage the piston.
I worried about using metal, too. But on Amazon, sellers are offering both metal and nylon. The one sold by Husqvarna appears to be metal. Wonder if it is a softer metal than a typical bolt? Still, it is a impressive effort by Bruce. as usual, although I'll probably continue to just stuff a rope in the plug hole LOL.
@@jjparody8257 This is for a 100cc saw. Any of the stops i have seen are metal. It did work by the way
I emailed you a tap drill chart buddy!
I saw that, thanks
Manual MityVac…the BruceyVac!
LOL
My piston stops are brass
Good point. LOL
nothing new about that . there's several uses for plugs like that including fixing an airline to one and pumping wheels with engines with more than one cylinder. done all this 60yrs ago.
Thanks. It is so handy an old guy had to come up with it a long time ago
