- In this video I quickly show you how to make a quick and easy DIY piston stop tool for your motorcycle, moped, small engine etc.
DISCLAIMER: In this example I use the tool to remove a flywheel nut. This is not the most correct tool for this job, and has potential to cause damage to the piston, wrist pin/con rod bearings, etc. if used improperly.
This tool can also be used to create/check TDC marks on any engine. Just rotate engine against the stopper from both directions, clockwise and counter-C.W.
TDC is in the middle of these points. In 4-stroke it would be a good idea to do it in compresion/power stroke to avoid valve damage.
Nice handcrafting, I will follow Your guideline to make me a 'timing check' tool. Thank You!
Very good idea.
Well. Made that look easy.
Thanks for the video
Thank you sir.
How much of that bolt should go inside the spark plug hole?
Holding the flywheel to remove by pinning the piston is a risky bet... great tool though!
Agree, thats why I decided to include that disclaimer in the description. Helpful tool if you are in a pinch but also can be useful for setting timing, etc.
