she could not have a better coach and group of people around her. Its fantastic to see mat in this role aswell! He pretty much walks her through the entire workout and shes and absolute animal by crushing it every single round

As great as Matt is as a Athlete, I think his bigger accomplishment will be as a coach. It’s one thing to do it yourself, coaching someone up to that level is a true talent.
It kind of helps that his student is Mal O'brien.

Mat, I love how you stress to Mal "make the standard. Go fast but not so fast you are getting no reps." So great to hear and obviously she trains to meet standards everyday when many others don't and it shows in competition. There is no better support system for any athlete on earth! You go Mal!!!

Mat talking about numbers and how to approach each workout then talking about the workout in the gym gave me some Moneyball vibes and I love it. This is a DANGEROUS player/coach combo

Mal's got a GREAT group around her. I like how Matt gives her credit for how good she is; and you can tell it's such a healthy & mutual coaching/athlete relationship where Matt takes 0 credit and is just there to bring out Mal's best! WHAT A TEAM!

@keepgoing go Do you stay up late at night theorizing on this stuff or does it just "pop" into your head?. There are some serious hate going on in the darkness of your head. Maybe you should just step away for awhile and try to reboot your mind. Matt and Mal have pushed you too close to the edge. After all, it just the "Games".
The stumble at 11:43 made me nervous as heck. So close to making it and not making it. What a great save. Mal kept her composure in a panicky moment. KEEP IT UP!!
Mal's present and future are so bright. Made her debut at the CrossFit Games last year at the age of 17 and placing 7th overall (AFAIR). Now being coached by the greatest and having the HWPO team around her, I only expect great things from Mal, her competitors must watch out!
I`ve always been a crossfit fan, started mith froning, khalipa, miko salo, then move to the smith, olsen an matt fraser era. But after Matt accomplished his 5th title and quited, and all the constant changes in crossfit, I thought there was no more excitement to watch more competitors build their carreer.. I was wrong, Mal's career is starting in the best way is possible and brings me tears watching her growth. Matts fenomenal as a coach i think he is going to become a legend also as a coach. I wont turn off this tv never again.
