john wood always knew how to make adjustments bearing in mind where was - seen him in a few diff places - brilliant dj who knew how to get the locals into it
I seen him in Manchester in 1999...a great night I was only 19....he played the Face Needing You.....his essential mix is fantastic...really creative...no fanning around...@@ToPayIsToFail
Although being a Southerner, I heard it was banging with an atmosphere to match at Quadrant Park back in the day, then I see footage on RUclips recently to back up those claims. Great music, great times!
Luvd the place back int day Had the time of my life there An experience n arf, traveled from Leeds a bunch of us Treasured memories luvd the alnighter more dodgy as fook but lived to tell the tale 👌
Edinburgh lad here. It was the best atmosphere ever in there. In early 91 we attended! Man it blew my mind. Nothing came close to the atmosphere & vibe from Quadrant Park. 🕊️🙌🕊️
For me I think the quad will never be beaten. All the big anthems come from that era and they were perfect for it. The atmosphere was just incredible especially when the likes of n-joi were there. I still show kids that video so they can see what the proper raving days were like.. after 😊finished I went to the state which was good but my personal opinion is that bowlers was the only place that could come close to the quad. But it had to be a big night because it was so big. The BBC quad was about half the capacity bowlers but it was always full and had thousands wanting to get in. If bowlers wasn’t packed then it would be a bit less of an atmosphere… but it was good

went in 1990 a few cars from wolves and by the the march of 91 there was 10 to 15 cars going regular best club of all time the warehouse was a bit moody but had the best club nights of my life
Remember chatting to a lad from Wolverhampton. In the allnighter...must have been one of your mob...we we're laughing at how shady it got sometimes, for us Woolybacks.Toilets were a no-go 😂😂.All worth it tho...great days.
hey up from Yorkshire , was there back in the day banging club quad park and then by the time the allnighter came along fucking scally`s fucked it all up . Shame but good memories
i never noticed that he faced the wall .too busy having the time of my many lives . one night top floor Q metal cube came on straight down stairs . and there we staid . that was the club not the warehouse they knocked down
I wonder how many lives this place messed up? Drugs, violence and anti-social behaviour to name just a few of the many negative and destructive consequences of this den of iniquity. And don’t tell me it was a nice place because it wasn’t. It may have been great to get smashed out your head, but it certainly wasn’t a place that good things came out of. In fact, the whole dance scene has been bad in what it’s done to people and society in general. For self-indulgence, it no doubt was heaven for some. But when one looks at the bigger picture and is honest, it brought nothing but misery for a lot of people. How many lost their jobs, split up, had kids taken into care or even lost their sanity etc, god knows.
What a pile of bollocks. Just prior to the acid house / rave explosion this country was a fucking miserable place to be. Everyone I know from those days have gone on to live normal, happy and successful lives with absolutely zero regrets. The happiness, excitement and togetherness of that era along with the music will never be experienced again.
i bet more people came out with good memerys that will stay with them till they die,i freind of mine whos a binman said if hadnt took to the clubs in the early 90s wonder were he be now i said think of the times you had no amount of money can buy that i would rather be skint and had been a part of it than rich and not, i lived for the weekend back then ive come out the otherside and i dont regret a thing ...rave on!
outy1978 this set the stage for a generation on drugs that hadn’t previously taken drugs or had any intention of doing so until this came along. I worked this scene for years on the doors and saw what it did to people. Yes, I’m sure plenty sailed through it and didn’t totally destroy themselves and their future, but how many poor souls were fucked up due to rave music and drugs?
John Kelly made some great mixes, awesome dj
Thank you for sharing this Lee. John Kelly a legend in the UK scene and a Dj who has skills dedication and natural talent.

Coming from a Manc believe me The Quad was untouchable for Atmosphere…..everyone rattled on about the Hacienda down our end ….it doesn’t come close

@@outy1978 I can bet a lot more relationships were formed in that place than it broke up. I do imagine it being a bit dodgy to be honest.
