Lyrics:
Vs. 1
I know not why God's wondrous grace
To me He hath made known,
Nor why, unworthy, Christ in love
Redeemed me for His own.
Chorus:
But I know whom I have believed,
And am persuaded that He is able
To keep that which I've committed
Unto Him against that day.
Vs. 2
I know not how this saving faith
To me He did impart,
Nor how believing in His Word
Wrought peace within my heart.
Vs. 3
I know not how the Spirit moves,
Convincing us of sin,
Revealing Jesus through the Word,
Creating faith in Him.
Vs. 4
I know not what of good or ill
May be reserved for me,
Of weary ways or golden days,
Before His face I see.
Vs. 5
I know not when my Lord may come,
At night or noonday fair,
Nor if I walk the vale with Him,
Or meet Him in the air.
Lyrics by: Daniel Whittle (1883)
Tune by: James McGranahan (1883)
Arranged and performed by: Apryl Dawn

Thank you Jesus for your love to us 🙏❤
Second Timothy is a powerful book. Love the song. So many wonderful memories.
Thank you for putting this old hymn out. I listen to it almost every day. BELIEVE and love God with all your heart and others this year.
Jesus Christ is lord. Blessed is he who comes on the name of the lord..
This was my highschool favourite hymn❤😢that was the time I felt soo deep in prayer😢Glory to God He answered my prayers
Praise the lord 🙂
I had a dream about my daughter April Dawn who is living many miles from me and I miss her so. She is very busy and doesn't know the Lord and in my dream she disappeared from my sight. So when I awoke I was very sad and asked the Lord what it could mean. And as I asked him, the chorus to this hymn began drifting through my head. I love this old hymn and was excited to look it up on RUclips to add it to my list. Inadvertently I picked yours after listening to a version that didn't fit me. As I heard your beautiful voice so sweetly singing this song I glanced down and saw your name. My eyes filled with tears as I realized He was letting me know that "He is keeping that which I've committed unto Him against that day." Thank you so much. I'll cherish this rendition forever because your voice sounds so fresh and young like my daughter, April Dawn!
God is so kind! Thank you for sharing.
@@AprylDawn Yes He is! Thank you for singing these old hymns so beautifully.
It's my dream to meet those people to sing together with them
I feel your pain dear one. I havent seen my daughter for 8 months. Makes me sad and breaks my heart 😢but the Lord knows my heart and yours. Hopefully before we leave this earth they will return. For one day it will be to late. We can only keep praying for them. Hugs from another mother ❤❤❤❤
I feel your pain and loss regarding your daughter. 😢We are in an extremely difficult situation with our daughter. She has turned away from the Lord and indulges herself into utter and complete opposite of what we taught her. It leaves us feeling utterly helpless.
I was sitting with the Lord this morning and this song popped in my mind, so I decided to Google it.
Your voice and piano was extremely comforting reminding me that I HAVE committed her to His loving care and He WILL go before her and draw her back to Himself.
Thank you again! God bless your ministry. 🥰❤️
Humbly pray 💫🥹🤲🏾HE IS ABLE 😊
When am heartbroken and hear this song my heart always rejoices 🙏🙏
I am a young graduate, freshly out of university, and I’m currently doing my national service; a mandatory one- year free service to my nation. I was broke in spirit, emotionally and financially but I prayed to God as I was in the bus to work and by the time day closed, there was a miracle. I couldn’t think of any other song than this and when I searched on google your version I had. May God bless you, my dear Apryl.
God is always faithful Daniel 🙏
This verse got me through raiding my kids…I remember singing it growing up…thankful for these old hymns, so rich. Beautiful voice, befitting a beautiful song. 🤍
For the first time I heard this hymn today (September 11, 2022) in one of the local church. I am already in love with this beautiful songs. Praise the Lord.
It is a very previous one to me also, and I hadn't heard it in a long time - until this past Sunday when the small community church I started attending this summer played it! I believe it was written in 1883! Like many of the old hymns do, this hymn blesses my heart ❤ every time I hear it. Thank you for your comment and may God bless you and keep you!
One of my favourite hymns thank you
You’re welcome!
Spirits filled hymn. Thank you.
LOVE this great old Hymn.....a tear jerker for sure!
One of my favorites. I was reading in Timothy and came across Paul"s inspirational words. I had to look the hymn up. My son is a prodigal and I saw the post about April Dawn who is also a prodigal. I prayed for her and my son Luke. Hearts united to bring our sons and daughters home.
The day after my commital they must please sing this hymn. 🙏❤️
Constant prayer and worshipping God be encouraged to know that I am praying for your daughters salvation my son and husband also need to be saved please pray for me as well. Love you
An elder from my church went to be with The Lord two weeks ago. This was one of his favorite songs.
I am sorry for your loss. It is encouraging to know that He is with the Lord.
As an elderly Paul sat in a Roman dungeon not knowing when the executioners would show up at his cell door and call his name that it was his time, he confidently uttered the words I know in whom I have believed! For to me to live is Christ and to die is gain!
How wonderful it is for a man to know whom he has believed, and to know that he is beloved no matter what may befall him
“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” - Luke 2:14 ESV

That is why I am suffering as I am. Yet I am not ashamed, because I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day.

Wonderful inspired hymn. I am from Zambia.

Thank you, @hitension7 ! - I didn't realize that this lovely old hymn actually was built upon this very Bible verse.❤
@@jessieescobar2057May God bless you and care for you and your children, for all of your days. And, might he also bring your husband in to understand the truth of your Jesus.❤
Wow, what a testimony of God’s saving grace in your life. I can’t imagine the difficulties you must be facing, but we know that our God is faithful!

Glory! Glory! Glory! Please prayerfully consider a hymn to honor our blessed God declared in Ephesians 1:3-14. Thanks for heralding a biblical truth from the Reformation, "After darkness, Light!"

Thank you!!
FYI, the original 3rd stanza is "I know not how the Spirit moves, Convincing men of ." It says nothing of sin. Sin Consciousness is what keeps you in bondage to Sin. It's a trick of the adversary. Don't buy into it.
Could you link to your source for the original wording? I could not find a version that does not mention sin. I’m not sure I understand what you mean by “sin consciousness”...are you saying the Holy Spirit does not convict people of sin, and call us to repentance? How can we be freed from sin if we are not first aware of its presence and power in our lives?
1 John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. There you have it from the word of God, don't take my word for it, stick with the bible Apryl you're doing great stuff.
@@AprylDawn We sang this hymn yesterday from our hymn book titled Hymns of Truth and Praise which uses the original author, Daniel W. Whittle. The third stanza indeed includes the word 'sin' - I know not how the Spirit moves, Convincing men of sin...' Thank you for your service in Christ.
@@HeRulesAlways All well anwered. The Holy Spirit does convince men of sin who might not believe without that. Conviction of sin is not the same as condemnation which Manuel is probably referring to. One is from god the other from the enemy. We musn't confuse the two.
Tune by James McGranahan
The last verse is not a song of a new creation (believer).

This hymn came to me in my devotions today, as well. I hadn't sung it for years, but it just flowed. The Lord is so good.

Same case, woke up and felt it in my heart I sang more than 20 years ago in high school.. It's a good feeling waking up and holy spirit is ministering to me
