guys, this is it. i think I've found a booktuber that exactly fits my aesthetic. the plants, the snails (not that i like snails but hey, nature!) and the mounting piles of lit fiction... and how do you even have every book for everything?
Oh thank god. I got here a lil too early and while waiting for your upload I got lost in a rabbit hole watching shorts about the royal family… HOW/WHY? You’re here now I am saved 🎉
I’d like to recommend to everyone Pax by Sara Pennypacker, it is about a boy, who has to release his fox to the wild, because his father is going to the army, and the boy’s moving to his grandfather. it is a beautiful story about saying goodbye and getting in peace with the past. there is also second book in this series, pax journey home, it is as good as the first one!!
I loved it so much! We have a tradition that my husband reads me books in the evenings, mostly for children, and this was one of those books. Amazing experience and it helps me sleep. Now we will read the sequel. :-)
Best book gift guide on youtube! You honestly deserve so many more followers because the vibes on this channel are immaculate! Big hugs from Portugal and happy xmas :)
i’m gifting “the long way to a small, angry planet” to my dad because he’s been trying to read more sci fi from authors who aren’t just white men, and i hope he likes it!! he can be a little picky so i’m nervous 😬
I feel like you would really enjoy the Overstory by Richard Powers (it’s about trees and an incredibly odd bunch of people who are trying to save forests)
I love being gifted books but somehow have never really felt confident in my choices enough to gift one to someone else.. maybe this year will be the year 💪🏻 happy sunday!!!!
5:30 is my question/prompt lol hi Edit: that rec sounds very good, thank you! I've actually heard of it already but didn't realize my sister might like it.
I’ve never seen anyone else who has heard of much less read Pendragon that’s so exciting! Also I don’t know how I got unsubscribed from you for so long! I’ve been watching your videos for like ten years (thinking collab channels and videos with Deidre 😅) I’m so glad to find you again!!
Ally, I don't remember if you read it or not but if you want a cozy fantasy with really low stakes you should try to read Under the whispering door! It's also set in a cafe in the middle of the woods (if I'm not mistaken) and while it deals with grief, it's so light hearted and cozy at the same time that it's just perfect for this time of the year ❤️
Recently found a book I thought you'd really like! It's Finding Junie Kim by Ellen Oh, and it's a middle grade that has discussions about korean war from a child trying to learn from their family!
I do often feel like I read everything so when I discovered and binged your channel - you really are right, Pew caught my eye and I read it! Buuut now there's a question of what to read for someone who still feels that way and watched this entire channel haha
So many good recs!! I'm gifting my friend who doesn't like to read but can get into the occasional fantasy Babel, and I am gifting my sibling Miyazaki's Shuna's Journey since I know he doesn't splurge on graphic novels
The only book that i know for sure that i will give is the lost child by Elena Ferrante for my mom, the movie made a mark on her and i think is good for her to get into the Ferrante world.
@@allisonpaiges i rad every single one of her books and is amazing, i’m from Brasil so it was a surprise to se how similar it was Italian culture towards family and motherhood in general to ours. It’s beautifully written and surrounds a lot of important topics about gender roles and the consequences of it.
OMG OMG OMG YAY!!! im a new subscriber and ive been steadily making my way through you're videos and recommending your channel to anyone who'll listen! Thankyou so much for another video Ally
Ohhh! For sister who likes horses, hates people, short stories- Amy Bonnafon's The Wrong Heaven is PERFECT. It has an AMAZING short story about a woman turning into a horse and it's weird and great
If anyone has a rec for my sister I would appreciate it! She loved The Maze Runner when it came out and hasn't read much since. Basically, something YA fantasy/sci-fi/dystopian that has lots of fun action and likable characters (but not a lot of romance), also she's 21.
not sure if ud see this comment, but i have a graphic novel recommendation for You as a holiday gift. it's called "squire" and its about this girl who wants to become a knight and enlists until she realizes that being a knight does not do the "greater good" as she thought they did.
my cool queer science nerd fantasy friend is already tillie walden's biggest fan so congratulations! 10/10 for accurate recommendations. now i'm off to think of a different book to give him (and maybe pick up on a sunbeam for myself - i still haven't read it!)
Thank you for being a ray of sunshine every week, even if you feel like rainclouds inside and out, A. You remind me of the manga Hakumei and Mikochi in that you are connected with nature, sweet as a bug, and recognize fireflies of goodness in an otherwise dark night. Basically-thank you for being you.
Loveee your dungarees! What colour of Yak’s are those? Alsooo, I recently purchased two great graphic novels which I think you might also like! 😊 Thieves - Lucie Bryon Scout Is Not a Band Kid - Jade Armstrong Happy festive season! 🎄🎄
I have yet to find a book that really pulls in my teenage brother, this year I'm trying What If 2 by Randall Munroe to see if light nonfiction works better than the fantasy/sci fi I've been trying.
I’m gifting Taaqtumi to my horror movie buddy, Stolen Tongues peaked his interest when I brought it up to him but I’m gifting him the version of Indigenous folklore that has been written by Indigenous people since he’s also very much a political and social activist :)
gifting my mom Life's Work by Willie Parker bc she's pro-choice and Christian and wants to better articulate to others how that can be true, gifting my dad How Do You Live? by Genzaburo Yoshino bc it's gonna be a Ghibli film and the man loves to cry over those, and gifting Tomorrow x3 to all of us bc we deserve it.
I’m I’m gifting my brother (big brain energy but adhd prevents him from reading anything except graphic novels and dry philosophically non fic? Idk) Bigfoot: Me Not Dead. It’s a little graphic novel about the trials and tribulations of Bigfoot 😂
i bought my best friend ‘healing through words’ by Rubin Kaur because she really connects with her words, and desperately wants to do therapy but it isn’t accessible to her rn. i want her to find some peace and spend some time with herself 🤎
*me screenshotting almost every one to buy for myself later* LOL

i literally said this out loud to my sister when i saw the upload notif we have the same brain you and i
