I've watched this all the way through twice and am well and truly obsessed! You're editing is always superb. But, for some reason, it was on a whole new level in this video. I was laughing out loud multiple times throughout. Thank you so much for all the kind words. Making that video took such a long time and so so so much mental effort. So I'm glad it is being enjoyed. Also, I just finished Part of Your World myself and feel the same way. I don't often pick up romance and like it even less. But that book slapped. Also, Notes on an Execution was my best book of last year. So glad you loved it! AlsoAlsoAlso, I'm friending you on instagram immediately. We MUST discuss books and life and everything.
I listened to Babel as an audiobook borrowed from my library. The voice actor for it was so good. It made the story more interesting. Not sure I would I have finished the book just reading it.
my fellow readers on twitter were so shocked I finished Babel as I threatened to dnf it every time I picked it up. that big middle chunk just…. awful. but the end was worth it for me, and I HATE when people say that. I finished it cause I couldn’t justify dnfing a special edition I spent entirely too much money on. also, that collection of Moomin novels?????? so cute! i want it!!!!
Love seeing someone who takes time for themselves when they are suffering but also shares that experience with us and perseveres through goals. You’re amazing
The fits are always immaculate. I was rooting for you so hard when you DNFed Babbel. I can’t imagine what a beast your videos are to edit so much respect for how much art and entertainment you can pack in an hour!!
An hour of Allie? Um, yes, please!! If you’ve never read a Backman book, you may want to check out “My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She’s Sorry”. The main character is a precocious almost 8 year old, and I couldn’t put it down!
Okay, we have very similar tastes in books, and basically feel the same about romances. And I LOVED Part of Your World. I DIED at the photo part of the book. Like tears streaming, couldn't breathe, went back and re read just that part after finishing. What I wanted to also say is that I am divorced from a man very much like the ex bf, and I really appreciated the representation of a strong, intelligent woman ending up in a psychologically abusive relationship, and her struggle with getting mutual friends and family to understand the true nature of him and how that compounds the gaslighting effect. It was well done and so enjoyable!!
I LOVE the romance genre because I LOVE the cozy vibes. The funny thing is I dislike 90% of the romances I read but I still keep reading them because the ones that hit, hit HARD! I didn’t love Part of your world but I do like this author in general and I highly recommend “Life’s too short” by her, it’s amazing. Also “It happened one summer” by Tessa Bailey - it’s the book that got me into romance and it is a DELIGHT from start to end!
Babel was one of my favourite books that I read this year, but I was rooting for you to DNF because you wasn't vibing! I love how authentically you show up in this cosy corner of the internet 🎉
Project Hail Mary is my favorite book I’ve read this year I’m so glad you liked it! The audiobook narrator really made this book even better in my opinion 😊
The sesame oil is such a game changer! Although my Korean friend advised to add it in the end, since heating it up to high temperatures can cause harmful products when the unsaturated fats are broken down :) Love, Em
My mom has hpm 😢 a little thing that gives her some defense is wearing indoor shades for settings w/ florescent lights. She often has a bad day after doctor office visits for that reason. I’m so so sorry that you’re dealing with this chronic health issue, and I wish you all the comfort and cozy copes that you so deserve ❤
my body has been absolutely betraying me today, but this just made it so much better🎉 i love the editing and the cozy vibes and the cats and the way you talk about books🌻 you have inspired me to be kinder to myself and feed myself real food and i am just very grateful to have found your channel this year🦆 sending you (and everyone else reading this) all the good vibes🍄
Hey Ally if you feel like anthologies aren't your genre but there are still some you wanna check out, I wanted to tell you about how I often read anthologies! I like to think of short stories like literary snacks and an anthology like trail mix. They can be nice to have "on the go" rather than reading from back to front, so I like to read a story here or there when I'm between bigger books, or when I want to read but don't have enough time for a longer investment. That way I get one anthology done while reading other books, it can also help with the feeling of being thrown from one world to the other. I also never read the stories in order, I pick stories based off what I'm feeling like (or how long I have to read) and tick them off in the contents page with a pencil.
oooh the debating on morality sounds so intriguing! and that writing style: wow. definitely adding notes on an execution to my tbr. idk if the dispossessed by ursula k le guin would be your cup of tea, but she's a classic writer and some of the kukafka quotes reminded me of hers, such as “For we each of us deserve everything, every luxury that was ever piled in the tombs of the dead kings, and we each of us deserve nothing, not a mouthful of bread in hunger. Have we not eaten while another starved? Will you punish us for that? Will you reward us for the virtue of starving while others ate? No man earns punishment, no man earns reward. Free your mind of the idea of deserving, the idea of earning, and you will begin to be able to think.” personally a 5 star read (minus the random little assault moment that contributed nothing) and a fave. if anyone's intrigued by the quote i'd tell them to give it a try and worst case scenario you'll have read a famous cali author and can now give ur 2¢.
just stumbled across ur channel and OH MY GOD? cozy afternoon vibes, an hour just talking about books, THE TRAVERSE TOWN THEME IN THE BACKGROUND????? i am obsessed
"Lets recharge our spoons" resonates with me on such a massive level! I was spoon bankrupt yesterday :| I really don't know how you have the energy to make the amazing content that you do
I've been a quiet viewer for at least a year now, but I wanted to thank you for mentioning Riley Sager in past videos! I've been absolutely devouring his books recently. The ride that was reading A House Across the Lake was so wild, but so fun. Just the thing I needed to get out of a reading slump! And I've been loving the hour-long videos. So glad to hear you enjoyed Notes on an Execution, it's one of my favorites. Your videos always brighten my Sundays - their cozy vibes are a perfect way to cap off the week. 💖
Im currently studying graphic storytelling and i have to make a graphic novel for my masters ( in like 2-3 years), i would love to send you the book when i've made it!!
First time viewer, but will definitely be sticking around. Not only did I love the content, but I really dug your video style, editing, and music choices (love all the sims music).
GIRLLLL, when I tell you I have the exact same dilemma with loving romance movies but not liking romance books 😭😭. I felt so seem when you said it. I also feel the exact same way with fantasy and sci-fi
Vibes are immaculate as always! It's been raining where I live and I saw snails and thought of you and yours. Thank you for continuing to create, your uploads always make my day. :)
I have therapy on Sunday mornings so whenever you upload it's like a little post-therapy treat for myself, especially when it's over an hour long like this one!! Love the cozy vibes and excellent editing as always ❤
Was not expecting the little outfit of the day moment since I assumed most of the allisonpaiges wardrobe has been curated via the thrift (which the video is further evidence of) - but I will never be mad about seeing more outfits in videos - I think I need the inspo. Also loving the mustache reveal
These long videos are so good for the soul and for fighting the Sunday Scaries 🤌🏻 the people’s bookish princess strikes again, folks 💛 You’re the best, Ally 🐌 I hope everyone reading this has a great week! xx
My ebook copy of Part of Your World came through right before I started this video- it’s a sign!! You’ve convinced me to read it asap 🥰 I also added Notes on an Execution to my TBR after hearing your thoughts on it! You and your videos always make me so happy💛 I wish I had a friend like you in real life x
honestly i loved babel but it did take me a full 2 month to read hahahahaha idk how anyone sat down and finished it in less than a week cus it was such a dense read. the first chapter hooked me but then it starts dragging along and really only pick up at the last 200 or so pages. it was worth it in the end but it's definitely a book that you need to take your time with? esp cus the long chapters really make the book seem even longer than it already is
How high we go in the dark is sitting at my favorite book right now, and the excitement I felt when you showed it is unmatched! So happy you did this video. 😊

I don't comment much on videos but you don't know how ECSTATIC I was seeing that this video was an hour long! You make waiting for your videos for 2 weeks SO WORTH IT!!! 💕
Yay! This video made my day ☺️ I consequently just finished reading Notes on an Execution a few days ago and it blew me away, definitely a new favourite. And project Hail Mary is a favourite too!! Your videos give me so much joy and I have read some really great books thanks to you!! ❤
Omg I totally get your Babel dnf. I got 3/4 of the way in. but now it's been on my nightstand for months. I just can't find the energy to pick it back up :')

i see what you mean! i took more notes on this book than any other book i think. literally wrote down every character name so i could see how everyone was connected to one another. definitely super impressive ✨
i’m so glad you snuck a Moomin book in there! it’s one of my favourite comfort series and i’m so glad you enjoyed it. what a wonderful video overall, thank you for bringing us along! 💛
watching this as i make dinner after a loooong rosh hashana weekend. nothing quite so exciting as looking at your phone after 2 days and seeing an ally videooo! and an HOUR LONG one at that!! love the video as always :))
Currently down with the old Coronella meself and you're just out there saving my week with all the cuteness but also realness and cats. the cats are important.
Haii Ally!! Hope you are feeling better now! I totally agree with you about reading books from the genres you don't typically read and finding new favorites. I'm not a big fan of romance but rn I'm reading this super cozy, autumnal sapphic romance book called Pumpkin Spice, and I loveee iiit!! I even laughed out loud a couple of times, and that rarely happens to me 😊😊
hour long ally on a beautiful, fall weather day?! i feel blessed☺️ i haven’t read project hail mary BUT i did read “Artemis” also by andy weir earlier this year and enjoyed it! artemis is 300 pages so definitely not as intimidating and involves some space crime and heists if that interests you. my eyes did glaze over a little when science and technical things were being explained but i overall liked artemis and found it to be an easier sci-fi to delve into! also i can’t wait for you to read a man called ove in december. that book WRECKED me and put me into a sobbing ball on the floor for days (and definitely look into the content warnings before hand)
I don't know if someone else has commented about this but The Moomins and The Great Flood isn't available in a matching edition to the others you have. It was out of print and mostly forgotten so wasn't considered as part of the series for a long time. On a brighter note the other editions you have are special editions with vintage covers that also have many more tiny illustrations throughout the books than other sets 😊
I make my own milks and they go bad so fast, like after 3 days, so I bought some silicone ice cube trays and I freeze some every time I make a batch. I highly recommend it especially if you're adding milk to hot beverages.
What a lovely video to fill my Sunday with!!! Immediately went to the bookstore to find Part of Your World. Couldn't find it but I will be snagging her as soon as possible. Rocky is the best character love him so much
Yesssss 100 agree on your thoughts on Babel, I thought it wasn't a good novel. It should have been an academic essay on the aspects explored in colonisation, capitalism and translation, but the plot, pacing, magic and characters were so weak. I wish I would have DNFed, because I didn't get anything from the end either.
girlie be out there filming A MOVIE of people favorite books??? nothing but respect for her, an actual legend
Happy Allisonpaiges Day to all who celebrate!!! 🎉❤📚
The way you can pick up such a big book without FEAR motivates me so much 😭
OPE SHE DNF’D I respect it so much it’s ok
the boobah latte art shook me to my core, such evocative and powerful art 🩷
Also, Im currently making ur tofu recipe but I added some lime juice and sriracha, and brother CHEFS KISS

the GASP that came out of me when i saw this is an HOUR, happy sunday y'all
I listened to Babel as an audiobook borrowed from my library. The voice actor for it was so good. It made the story more interesting. Not sure I would I have finished the book just reading it.
I loved the Babel audiobook! I felt like the different accents really complimented the linguistic themes
the editing made my dopamine overloaded brain even happier. also the ONE HOUR LONG VIDEO?? THANK YOU. absolutely love devouring these longer videos

So happy to see what you been reading . I’m currently going to start reading Smoke gets in your eyes by Caitlin Doughty ,I’m so excited to because my librarian hyped it up for me and told me she was so happy to see someone checking it out because she enjoyed reading it herself. So will see how it goes . it’s about a Morton’s experience working at a crematory. great for spooky season.

My Best Friend's Exorcism is so fun! I am so happy that you picked it up!

The sound editing is 🤌🏻🤌🏻
The fact that your videos pop up on my feed when I’m about to start my treadmill workout ♥️ really make it easy to get my time on fly by!

Omg I totally get your Babel dnf. I got 3/4 of the way in. but now it's been on my nightstand for months. I just can't find the energy to pick it back up :')
I CAN TOTALLY RELATE WITH YOU ABOUT WHY SHORT STORIES AREN'T REALLY FOR ME! i get why people suggest them for when you're in reading slumps because we can finish each story more quickly and feel a sense of achievement, but in my head it's more tiring hopping from one universe to another so fast, so i find myself finishing a long book much more quickly than a short story collection. (i still love short stories tho, don't get me wrong. i'm only talking about why it's tiring for me to finish a collection of ones.)
New video!!!! This made my Sunday lol.❤️
ur channel is like my safe space in love w ur style & ur space & everythaaang 🥲🥲
How High We Go In The Dark is my favorite book of the year so far! It’s crazy on a reread bc you will pick up more and more connections between each story which helps those which weren’t a fav first time around. i see what you mean! i took more notes on this book than any other book i think. literally wrote down every character name so i could see how everyone was connected to one another. definitely super impressive ✨

This was such a treat, thank you!

Adding Part of your world & notes on an execution to the TBR🐌🐌🐌
i think she would love the 'prop and berta' stopmotion movie. Simply because of her choice of music
You are like the Bob Ross of Booktube and it makes me so happy 🤍
Bro every reference had such big part of my childhood!
The pbs, the LBP popit, “too little too late”
and every single one after that lol!
i'm so glad you recognise them!!!
This was so fun to watch 😭😭 thank you ally!!
You sold me, I hate spice in romance books so I will definitely try out Part of Your World 😅
Sunday made!!
Sunday is made! 💕 Your uploads are a part of my Sunday routine☺️
I wish I would have DNFed, because I didn't get anything from the end either.
time to make some snacks and delicious coffee! the excitement of this being a hour long video is real!
'saw a duck on the way and now i feel better' , relatable!!
