- It's already taken by millions around the world, to treat obesity and diabetes. And now, multiple studies have shown that the weight-loss drug Ozempic also reduces inflammation, and could be used to treat other conditions like cancer, arthritis and Parkinson's.
It costs about £200 a month and doesn't work for everyone, but researchers have suggested it could slow down ageing.

@@lukecaldwell7721 The use of quotation marks implies that. "hailed", as in "find out who is saying this, it is not Channel 4", and it is not alone in possible ways to "prolong life". "Giving up smoking shown to extend life" could be a similar title.

Not true. The title states that it has been "hailed as" 'fountain of youth" which COULD 'slow ageing'. The title is careful not to endorse the opinions of those who see an effect and make bold claims.
The report also questions where it fits in. The lady who has lost 13lb in 3 weeks will quickly regain that when her body is presented with any excess of fuel (be it fats or carbohydrates), but she is sadly typical of those who struggle with balance in the eating department.
But the Professor touches on how it can help some who require medical assistance, while emphasising that people who eat too much and rarely move from a chair or sofa (I could be more harsh...) have also been shown to benefit from this "fountain of youth" aspect of DIET & EXERCISE.
The title is cautious. It might seem like clickbait, and misleading, but properly read, it is neither.

This reporting is so irresponsible. This is primarily a drug for diabetics that is already in short supply.
My dad has been taking this for weight loss, he near killed himself because he stopped eating all together.

In the US there's a shortage of over 200+ medications. I've had to get replacement meds, for a couple meds I was on. Some are even meds for children. Sad 😞
"Slow aging" is misleading. It extends life expectancy for people with chronic diseases.
And only in the way that weighing less obviously increase life span. Workout does the same thing. Nothing special except for people who are already fat.

Huh? He is a Professor, (read the caption properly), and he is from the British Heart Foundation, not "Cancer Research" which is a different Charity, and deals with a different subject. Where did he "revert to sales points"? Listen carefully and he states that diet and exercise are recommended, but for some, medication can be a necessary aid.

With only a slight risk of thyroid cancer….
Most people who are obese become so through bad diet choices and sedentary lifestyles. Offering drugs instead of encouraging lifestyle changes is not a route to longevity, its a route to greater problems like drug dependency.
Not everyone who is overweight eats unhealthy or makes bad choices. If you have a disability and can barely walk in a day it's impossible to walk and excerxise enough, cooking and ahoping can also cause huge problems and ready meal options are never healthy

Diabeties could cause all unwanted things in any body. Prolonging life is in fact hindering diabeties.
Eating less food causes you to age at a slower rate, you're not taxing your body by processing all of those extra calories. Another thing to consider is that you tend to lose muscle mass with Ozempic, which causes your testosterone levels to drop, which is not so great for supporting your skeletal structure at an old age but it does expand your overall life.
You know what else slows aging?...
..having a healthy diet and doing regular exercise. But who needs to do all that, when all you need to do is take a pill/injection!

I’m least likely to use the drug… but I can see the benefit of the drug with a biological and CS background…ultimately the drug improves the lives of many because of its use cases.
