You can tell the creator understood Vegeta on a deep level. He's always been about the pride of the saiyans, his personality in Z is due to an inferiority complex from Frieza making him a lap dog after blowing up his race. He has no reason to hate Goku or act undignified in this timeline.
His hate for goku is due to his class based pride His dad shows that a low class sayain being stronger than a high class is a big no no for sayians so being weaker than a low class was where his issue came from, nothing to do with freeza

I think they mentioned it took them 4 years to make this!! 😳 Insane accomplishment and effort, Studio Stray Dogs deserves all of the praise possible and then some for making such an excellent video with creativity, originality and love for the source material
They only took for years with few people and working for free and out of pure love for the work, im hoping this gets then a deal or something where they can work full time and create worls of art.
I like the that the animators actually used fight choreography in the animation instead of blurry lines for punches and having them fly around everywhere. Reminds me more of Naruto, Jjk and other animes.
I at first thought of this as What If DBZ stayed with the Journey to West mystical style instead of going heavy Sci-Fi. But you guys are probably right about Frieza being defeated. Could've been when Bardock saw the vision the Saiyans took him seriously.
It seems like its on a completly different universe, Frieza might not even be working with the saiyans to begin with, he's maybe just a galaxy conqueror, and Vegeta knows he will be coming soon, thus preparing for war.

This was just my interpretation and prob a reach, but Vegeta converted his KI in order to create that spirit sword. Christopher Sabat is is well known as the english VA of both Vegeta and Kuwabara from Yuyu Hakusho. With Kuwa’s main steeze being his Spirit Sword, I imagined that as a little homage.

A fighter with enough skill can easily dodge, and get in close for a counter attack, or straight up catch/deflect a bullet/blaster type weapon away. The problem with those types of weapons, is that you have to catch your opponent off guard, and standing still, against strong fighters, you’d have to use them after the hand to hand fight is over. Like when Krillin was gonna stab Vegeta with that sword. And speaking of swords, remember Trunks gave King Cold his sword, and King Cold tried to use it on him. It was a quick fight alright, but not for the person who had the weapon lol. On the reverse side, you have to remember all times Trunk’s sword was caught, and broken, by a strong opponent. Then there are the Ki weapons, which are highly dangerous, but one critical strike, to break the user’s concentration, will dissipate the weapon, costing them a lot of ki and free trip to combo city lol. I think it would be more like Naruto, if they fought more with weapons. The battles wouldn’t be necessarily quick, but there would be more jaw dropping moments in the fights. Even something simple, like Goku covering the power pole with ki, an using it to deflect a blast, or sending it flying into a opponent for a quick strike, as a lead in for a hand to hand attack. I think the battles with frieza force level enemies, would be short, but the main arc enemies would just be more challenging to a hand to hand/weapon fighter like Trunks

Gokus transformation is based off his original story by Akira-San, Sun Wukong Son Goku. The whole DB was inspired by Journey to the west.
Hence why it’s called Savior from Heaven as that’s where Wukong originates from

Even something simple, like Goku covering the power pole with ki, an using it to deflect a blast, or sending it flying into a opponent for a quick strike, as a lead in for a hand to hand attack. I think the battles with frieza force level enemies, would be short, but the main arc enemies would just be more challenging to a hand to hand/weapon fighter like Trunks

As far as I can recall Dragon Ball Was based on the Journy to the west, which is either about or based on the story of Wukong. I myself have only watched the original Naruto anime, but I think the reference to Wukong is more prominent. I wanna see more of THIS particular story, so here's Hoping!

Honestly when I do this comment I’m not doing this for attention honestly when I first watched this I teared up I remember watching Goku train with Master Roshi meeting krillin meeting Yamcha and then going to the tournament I remember the feeling of when you first turn Super Saiyan I remember when rabbits first arrived on the island I remember him transforming into the great ape and his son following suit I remember when trunks was first introduced I remember when Vegeta turned margin so many memories so many memories just balled up inside of me when I watch this broke my heart honestly just love letter to the fans as well as the series as well as his creators did so much for me and I just let loose I just cried because I did wanna training 100 times earths gravity I did want my hair to Spike up and go golden in my eyes transform green I didn’t want to become stronger. My theory is that it's not that frieza doesn't exist but that the saiyan's mastered super saiyan and so he was never able to take over them and that is why Vegeta mentions war at the end because they are going to war with Frieza and his army
