WOW! I recently started watching your video's and now am scratching my head and thinking "Why have I not been watching you until now!" The history and video's are so cool. Wish they would have had this when I was in school, I would have had better grades in History class. Keep up the great video's Jacob!
Glad you visited my hometown. I live not far from the battery. So actually the first shots of the Civil War did not come from Ft. Sumter they came from James Island and were shot at Ft.Sumter. There is a marker on James Island at Ft. Johnson where the shot was fired from. BTW in 1788 Charles Cotesworth Pinckney gave the land to the city for the market. The market was for everyone and slaves may have shopped there but people that did not own slaves shopped there also. It was never called The Charleston Slave Market. There is nothing in the history of The Meeting Street Inn that says anything regarding France or the arch that you referenced. The legend of 2 Meeting Street Inn goes like this: Waring Carrington experienced “love at first sight” when he laid eyes on Martha Williams. Carrington was a late-1800s jeweler, and the two quickly fell in love, eventually getting married in 1890. Here’s where the story turns extraordinary: Martha Williams came from a wealthy family, so her father’s wedding gift to the couple was a $75,000 check to be used in the purchase of a home at Meeting Street and South Battery. The site became what is known today as the Two Meeting Street Inn. This lovely historic Charleston home was eventually purchased by the Minnie Carr family in the 1940s and was subsequently turned into a guest house. That tradition remains alive to this day, with the owners renting out nine guestrooms, each of which is a sure step above the usual bed and breakfast fare.
Well shiver me timbers, they say you learn something everyday, i never realised Black Beard was a real pirate i thought he was just fiction, thankyou Jacob loved the vlog x ☠
I am from spartanburg sc but lived in charleston sc for years . I consider charleston my home because it is peacefull and a great place to live. Thank you jacob for this great video
Charleston is such a beautiful historic place. Cemetery is full of history too. A lot of interesting stories connected to the town. Thank you for showing us and telling us about this wonderful historic place
Me and a friend spent 2 days in Charleston before the pandemic. What a beautiful city. They sell a book in the bookstore called " Come Hell or High water ". It's a great read with tons of pictures. The city has experienced fire, flood, and an earthquake.. Great video as always. Thanks Jacob.
Ghost adventures actually visited that town and did a lock down in that jail if anyone wants to know. go on travel Chanel and they made that episode around 2009 I think. Its actually really cool.
I loved your visits to Charleston and Folly Beach. Reminded me so much of my childhood. I was born in Myrtle Beach and my Mother loved History. She would take us to all the historical places in the Carolinas. Did you ever go to the Charleston Museum before it was in that new building? OMG that old rickety house it was in was the scariest place I've ever been. But I absolutely loved it!!!!
Alot of historic buildings wish I had historic places like this around my town we just live in the desert not much around so thank you for having me along for the journey into history your awsome I look forward to more vlogs like this one take care of yourself thank you
Love the video so far! Born and raised in Charleston worked as a mover so I really got to check out all the nooks and crannies of some of the old house Including the blue house on rainbow row and the original governor's mansion .
Haha dang Jacob! My gf and I can’t seem to run into you up in gatlinburg or down here in our hometown of Charleston. Lol you’re one of the few RUclipsrs we’d love to meet. Stay well my friend and safe travels!
I highly recommend visiting Lake View Cemetery. Rockefeller and James A. Garfield are buried there! They are also famous for The Hazerot Angel! After watching this video made me think of this being a good place for you to visit. Link below to the Cemetery website. g.co/kgs/nZfx3u
This was a great way to see Charleston, S. C. The old Oak trees in the park, were most inviting. A lot of interesting history there. I thought your green shirt looked good on you Jacob. I hope you & Kristy have a nice Memorial weekend!
I saw on RUclips where Jacob and Kristy were getting a divorce last year. Not sure if they are still together or not. Just watched a video of Kristy talking about them getting a divorce last year.
The Story I heard about Robert Smalls daring escape was that he was prompted to take the ship when he overheard his master talking to another officer about selling his wife and child off. When the ship made port, Smalls and a fellow Slave waited until nightfall when they knew the crew would go out to enjoy themselves leaving him and the other man to guard the ship. They stowed thier families below, and quietly slipped the ship from its moorings, successfully bluffed 2 guard's in the Harbors tower, and into History. It's said that the Union Captain that boarded the ship (I guess I should mention that the men ran a white flag up the mast once they cleared into Northern waters), was astonished and impressed that the men were not only able to escape a heavily guarded port, but they did so with an entire battleship in the dead of night with just the two of them to operate it.
This was really interesting and great to see. Charleston as one of my favorite cities ride up there with Orlando. Being a South Carolina native, I guess I’m a little biased oh well
I have heard thru some videos by the Bulldog tours that most of the head stones came from the New England area. and that the recelty passed . The family would have their depiction carved. fun history Love it all man.
The next time you are on I-75 and have time when passing through Jellico (Exit 160) near the KY state line stop by the Jellico Family Museum it’s located inside Bucks Hardware on Main Street. When the unpleasantness is over Buck will give you a tour it contains Appalachian history.

Please tell me you are kidding about not knowing Blackbeard was real.
Yup, the Queen Anne's Revenge was a real ship too. It was discovered off the coast of NC in 1996, near Beaufort and Morehead City.
I would enjoy a tour of Fort Sumter NHS in the future, if on the Carpetbagger itinerary! :)

While a pentagram is a 5 point star that is formed with a single line, a pentacle is essentially a pentagram with a circumscribed circle.
Awesome
During floods, the gravestones and some coffins floated, there were no maps of the graves, and the tombstones were just put upright
Great stories, Jacob!
Best vid I've seen yet...good job!
Jacob! Thank you! So Beautiful! 😄
Have you been to Bonaventure cemetery in Savannah?
Well done, Thank you

Sounds like a cool story of an African American freedom fighter.
I want Robert Smalls the former slave to be my friend, if I were living in that decade.

16:15 The actual building burned down in a fire in December of 1861.
Check out the meaning of various pirate flags….some meant “death to all” etc
The monument was inscribed with "just deserts" instead of just desserts?
makes lunchtime a bit gritty.................
One S is correct:
www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/just-deserts-or-just-desserts
It's referring to something deserved, not a post-meal sweet. :)
No way your in my home town well hi jacob 👍🏻
5:31 stonemason didn't know the difference between deserts and desserts.

Pentacles, not Pentagrams. Pentagrams are inverted.
A lot going on in Charleston.
Go to the Minnesota state farm
Round buildings are said it is done that way so that the devil cant corner you.
One of my favorites. O yeah I was born there lol
Out of curiosity, and if you see this, what kind of camera do you use?
Read about the blue dress women in the circle church graveyard
Can u go to sheperstown West Virginia
This is a great cemetery with lots of history and the Hunley submarine remains are buried there.Magnolia Cemetery
