I love how the crowd cheers when Momo introduces herself in Babymetal Death. This was the first show with her as official member, though this time the song was played towards the end of the show instead of in it's usual spot at the beginning of the show. The instrument that makes you think of an Indian influence in Metali is the Japanese Shamisen. Metali was the first new song with Momo. Metali is currently the regular song that gets a Kami Band intro live. The song evolved into a never ending source of funny moments when the girls enter the stage after the intro and during the audience interaction part.

Great triple reaction. 'BABYMETAL Death' was the first song on the first album, so yes they were using the play on words with death sounding like desu (or vice versa) and doing no more than introduce themselves by name, spell out BABYMETAL and have everybody chant 'death death death'. They hadn't played it live since the end of 2017 after Yui left - this was April 2023, Momometal's first show as the official third member and they brought it back. Nothing Indian in 'Metali', that one is all Japanese (the instrument you may have mistaken for a sitar was a shamisen). Metali is a made up word fusing metal with matsuri (festival). The chants - lots of 'Wasshoi Wasshoi' and 'Dokkoishu', otherwise lots of jumping round and having fun. Also get low when Su tells you and wait for Momometal to ask "Are you ready?" after her Kabuki section before you jump up. 'Distortion' has Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy as guest vocalist doing the growls. Enjoy the show - don't try to film everything, maybe get a couple of clips for a few seconds or a couple of photos if you feel you must, but it is much more important to actually experience them - especially the first time you see them live. Be in the moment, watch and participate.

I just saw Babymetal November 15th at the Anthem in Washington DC it was a packed sold out show they did Babymetal death which is their intro song Distortion and later in the set they did Metali but they also did BMC Time wave papaya karate and other songs and closed with Headbanger and Road of resistance

Great reactions....and I think you are going to be having a blast at the show! You may have noticed that in the concerts in the videos no one was using their cell phones (not allowed in Japan), but you will see that in the US, the phones are out...I did the same. The does not allow for the full participation experience, but it will be high energy and fun regardless! Have a good show!
Great triple reaction, thanks! The three songs are staples on their current setlist so, you are going to get them for sure. "BABYMETAL DEATH" actually means "We are BABYMETAL", not "we are death", it's not that dark, haha... and that would be redundant (DEATH desu) and not serving the pun. The pun works because they are literally introducing themselves. Which makes it the perfect show opener. "METALI!" is a very Japanese folklore influenced song. It's a "matsuri" (traditional Japanese festival) song. And (as mentioned) that was a shamisen playing frenetically the whole time. I think it's very cool they can do this kind of songs. Musically, it's very groovy and funky. I love Su's clean yet aggressive vocals here. Really cool collaboration with Tom Morello who commented this: "I am a big fan of BABYMETAL, a band that is both power rocking and constantly surprising with dizzying musical twists and turns. I've been trying to work with them for some time and when they sent me the demo of 'Metali!!' I knew I could rock that shit like crazy!". "Distortion" don't go after me... I definitely recommend checking out the earlier live "BABYMETAL DEATH | Legend 1997 (Complete)"...if you think the crosses are surprising in that one. And remember Babymetal is #NOTACULT 😅
Road of Resistance is always a must and almost always their final song. I haven't checked to see if you've reacted to it yet but if you haven't, the " Live in Japan" version....even though it's from 10 years ago, is still the best one. I'm hoping to see one of their "Legend" concerts in Japan but still, I can't say I'm not a little bit jealous. Have fun Jason !!! I'm sure it'll be the best concert you'll attend

Enjoy the show, don't stress too much about knowing all the audience cues, outside of Japan only the hardcore fans up front really do any of that. But I do recommend getting as close to the front if you can and joining in as much as possible

You even say it's in order but it's not. 5 months ago, 4 months ago, back to 5 months ago, another 5 months ago, then back to 4 months ago. How is that in order?
